NoReimu (Touhou) and Kyo (King of Fighters) (We need an SNK rep), would all make better additions than Banjo and Hero,
Getting to see Banjo on a Nintendo console again was far more necessary. And this is coming from someone who wants an SNK fighter himself.(We need an SNK rep)
Ignore him; he complains about howone character should be another one
"Need" wouldn't be the word I would use, but I would love to see an SNK character in Smash as long as it's Marco from Metal Slug (with Tarma, Eri, and Fio as alts).Kyo (King of Fighters) (We need an SNK rep)
This, seriously. Even if missing spirits don't factor into anything, he's not anything special in that regard. Also, I think Porky's chances are being highly overrated. Just because he's a series' main villain doesn't mean he's the only noticeable spirit omission.
You are officially a bro, I couldn't agree more."Need" wouldn't be the word I would use, but I would love to see an SNK character in Smash as long as it's Marco from Metal Slug (with Tarma, Eri, and Fio as alts).

Luckily Metal Slug has a fairly decent pedigree; some portable entries, the Anthology on Wii, and the Ikari Warriors were on NES.Metal Slug in Smash is something I've been wanting for a long time.
Banjo & Kazooie were far more of a necessity, though. They are among the very few characters who could have been in ever since Melee, if not even since Smash 64. And Dragon Quest was higher on the priority pole, too.
I think it's cool that Smash is becoming "videogames: the videogame", but in my opinion it's a lot better if the 3rd party additions have strong ties with Nintendo.
While I would really like a character from SNK, I don't think anything would make me as happy as Banjo.Poor Bomberman. He really needs to be promoted to playable in Smash 6.
Although, I think Bomberman, along with Reimu (Touhou) and Kyo (King of Fighters) (We need an SNK rep), would all make better additions than Banjo and Hero, I'm glad to see Banjo and Hero as playable characters. However, so far Joker, who was a heartbreaker for me, is the only character in the fighter's pass that I want as an assist trophy instead of a playable character, due to lack of support and iconicness, despite being iconic and popular. All the other DLC fighters are perfect.
I mean, I don't think having a costume and being playable is an issue in itself - it's just the way they presented the costume to us. Like "this is the closest thing you'll have for Ultimate, at least".To be fair, they have sold Mii costumes of Falcon/Fox/Link/Samus despite being Smash mainstays. Maybe they wouldn't think it'd be redundant to have the Rex costume and a playable Rex, although I still believe his fans gotta wait a while.
Also, I think Porky's chances are being highly overrated. Just because he's a series' main villain doesn't mean he's the only noticeable spirit omission.
I don't know about the fifth character, but I can't help but feel sure that the fourth is Doomguy. It just makes too much sense.I'm conflicted on the last characters--I think the possibilities are Capcom (Dante, Phoenix Wright) and another new company, my hope being Activision (Crash).
Yeah, it's got enough. It's also been a more arcade-based series, at least in my country, so yeah, it surely qualifies.Luckily Metal Slug has a fairly decent pedigree; some portable entries, the Anthology on Wii, and the Ikari Warriors were on NES.
That's the one that makes me doubtful Doom is in this Pass--I can understand Grant lying under NDA that he knew nothing about Smash, but I can't understand letting it slip that they've talked about Smash, if they actually were in Smash. I feel like that would be something you stay quiet about or, in Grant's case, lie about. Not saying it's not possible, and there have been examples of VO artists non-subtly hinting of their inclusion, but it's not something I would put in my predictions. Dante came close to that, but the way it's worded, the intended impression was Dante wasn't in Smash (and is a clever lie, if a lie).I don't know about the fifth character, but I can't help but feel sure that the fourth is Doomguy. -Eternal is launching soon,
-Apparently, the recent classic Doom ports have been released in Japan only on Switch and not on PS4?,
-That whole interview with Bethesda where they said they have talked about Smash with Nintendo,
-The guy from Bethesda saying there would be surprises for Nintendo fans (maybe he was just referring to the ports, but still),
-Sakurai acknowledging Carmack as the father of FPS,
-The great relationship between Nintendo and Bethesda,
-Doom just being one of those gaming household series, like Final Fantasy, Castlevania or Banjo-Kazooie,
-The Nintendo connection that has been there for quite a while (just think of Doom 64),
-This is just a hunch, but the 3 series we got in the DLC so far have been very disparate in feeling (both in aestethic and in music), and Doom's imagery and death metal just fit as a follow-up to those, in my mind.
I really have no idea about who the fifth could be, though. Hopefully they're promoting Bomberman.

Same as you my friendI'm conflicted on the last characters--I think the possibilities are Capcom (Dante, Phoenix Wright) and another new company, my hope being Activision (Crash). The characters I hope for would be Agumon and Crash, though I have a feeling Bandai Namco won't get another rep, and Lloyd is a possibility too. A likely possibility is the next two characters are ones I don't know about/haven't thought about. What I'm not conflicted on is I do not believe we'll get a second pass, echoes or bonus characters--my hope would be Ultimate is the last Smash game and goes on with annual updates of as many DLC characters they can have.
Also, Grant retweeted this, and I love it. Sums up my feelings on Ultimate:

The Grinch banner was a false alarm, but Banjo & Kazooie eventually made it in! Impossible? I think not! Definitely means any character is possible, and while it's important to tune our expectations accordingly, we should never give up, never stop dreaming.Same as you my friend
It doesn't reveal that they got a character in though and it's left pretty vague about what happened so that shouldn't break the NDA.I can't understand letting it slip that they've talked about Smash, if they actually were in Smash. I feel like that would be something you stay quiet about or, in Grant's case, lie about.
This is a good point, but I don't know... It's not like they've said anything significant. Just a "yep". And I'd say we're only taking it seriously because of the direction the DLCs have taken as of now. That's the one that makes me doubtful Doom is in this Pass--I can understand Grant lying under NDA that he knew nothing about Smash, but I can't understand letting it slip that they've talked about Smash, if they actually were in Smash. I like the art and premise. Also, Grant retweeted this, and I love it. Sums up my feelings on Ultimate:
I didn't know they turned Banjo into a vampire slayer--we already have Simon!Anyway, I love how here, he's kinda buffy ??
Now, I know people will make battle arenas for fun... but remember, Banjo-Kazooie fans, our job is not yet over.I have a Battle Arena planned for Banjo & Kazooie's return! It will be a Spirits arena, Team Battle, items off, FS meters on! 3 Stock, 10:00 matches, on, well, Spiral Mountain of course! Hope to see many of you there!
They even added a bottom flap that Rare alumni wanted to use since the first BK game. It's definitely thorough.I didn't know they turned Banjo into a vampire slayer--we already have Simon!
But yeah, and Steve Mayles mentioned in an interview how it actually reminded him of the original concept art when Banjo was in Project Dream. Perhaps it was coincidental, or maybe Sakurai has that much attention to detail that he used it as a subtle homage.
Ha! Good one! Now, I know people will make battle arenas for fun... but remember, Banjo-Kazooie fans, our job is not yet over.
Next is making "Banjo vs Banjo, Final Destination, no items" a real meme.
No (I'm not, at least). Also, this has nothing to do with Banjo; it's better suited for a general social thread, like the Smash Ultimate social thread or the Nintenzone social thread.I want to ask: Anyone else worried Nintendo will give into the lootboxes craze in their console games?
Sorry. Was worried. No (I'm not, at least). Also, this has nothing to do with Banjo; it's better suited for a general social thread, like the Smash Ultimate social thread or the Nintenzone social thread.
While off topic, I want to correct something--Reggie has defended lootboxes in an interview. Essentially saying that if the gameplay called for it, it could be fun, using baseball cards (and I would say Pokemon cards) as an example. He said it gets a bad wrap because of how poorly it has been implemented, but so long as it's not the only means of accessing content, it can provide a good, engaging experience.I want to ask: Anyone else worried Nintendo will give into the lootboxes craze in their console games?
Oh really? He defended them? And I've been thinking, while I would prefer Sakurai to present Banjo & Kazooie's gameplay, if I can't get that, could I, at the very least, get Jon Lovitz to be the narrator? The look on people's faces who don't know about that BK promotional video when they hear Lovitz' voice would be priceless--I love itz.

I actually think the Fall Direct won't happen before BK. Amiibo theory has been correct so far. If we take that into account, the bear and bird will release within 2 weeks of the late September amiibo. And since the amiibo themselves still release in the last few days of summer, I'd wager Banjo is early October.I'm starting to think we won't get Banjo & Kazooie's page until next month. It's starting to make sense now.
September: Reveal character #4 in Fall Direct, afterwards Banjo & Kazooie's page unlocks and #4 will be inaccessible, like last time.
October: Banjo & Kazooie's gameplay showcase followed by their release.
December: #4's gameplay showcase followed by their release, #5 revealed at the Game Awards.
February: #5's gameplay showcase followed by their release.
I originally thought it didn't make sense to announced #4 before Banjo & Kazooie, but given the timing, I feel like #4 would be in the Fall Direct, and they're typically in September. Doesn't necessarily have to be, and in the Wii U days there was at least a November Fall Direct.I actually think the Fall Direct won't happen before BK. Amiibo theory has been correct so far. With all of that in mind, I see no reason for them to do a Direct so close to Banjo and not put anything relating to the duo in it.
I think they will either be unveiled at the Fall Direct or slightly before it (in that case, the Direct would be in late October.).
It's a cool idea and I like the idea of fans making the Banjo-Threeie Rare won't. I've tried some fan games, but they didn't give me that feel that I wanted--using the same assets and re-learning moves already learned in Banjo-Kazooie was a chore. So I like the idea of fans making a game from scratch--it's a huge undertaking, and from what I saw, it was scrapped, but I could be wrong. I had my ideas for a Banjo-Threeie earlier in this thread, I could expand upon that more. Some similar ideas.Hey! No one is talking about the fan game project I found?
Oh. Well I plan to go to collage someday to learn game designing. Once I graduate, I shall take over the designing of the Crystal Jiggy!I originally thought it didn't make sense to announced #4 before Banjo & Kazooie, but given the timing, I feel like #4 would be in the Fall Direct, and they're typically in September. I'm certain Banjo & Kazooie's gameplay showcase won't be in the Fall Direct, as they're lengthy and don't fit in a Fall Direct. Doesn't mean Banjo & Kazooie won't show up in some form, as they could mention, like Joker, "Details coming soon", or my hope is for Kazooie and Tooie to be released on Switch in some form.
And October is within 2 weeks of the amiibo's release, something like October 3rd makes sense for the Fall Direct (on a Thursday, no less), so it would still be consistent with that. I think this schedule makes sense so long as you allow the weirdness of revealed #4 before Banjo & Kazooie, but I didn't expect 2 characters at E3, and it would be the same situation as it was then.

That sounds great! Though, you could also independently or collaboratively work on your own version as well. I would, if I knew anything about game design.Oh. Well I plan to go to collage someday to learn game designing. Once I graduate, I shall take over the designing of the Crystal Jiggy!
That's what I thought previously, though thinking about it recently, that's essentially what happened with Banjo & Kazooie. They were announced before Hero's details, something I didn't think would happen, so there is precedence for that. They'll probably randomly drop a video explaining Banjo's details the day before his release, around early/mid october. Of this I'm pretty sure.
The weird thing, though, is that if there's going to be a september Direct, character 4 should be already announced by then... and I can't really see it happening before we get details on Banjo.
Maybe the general Direct will be in october, after bear & bird's release? It could make sense, since the january Direct has been pushed to february for the past two years. Or maybe Banjo actually releases in late september, just before the Direct? Dunno.
I just hope it's soon.
If we do, I’m hoping it’s Fulgore. Killer Instinct for a time was Rare’s, and by extension Nintendo’s, resident fighting game before Smash Bros, and I feel like Fulgore, despite being a fighting game character, can play differently from the SF boys. Now that Banjo is playable, do you think we will have more Rare reps?
If she counts, the next in line is Dixie. After her, I don't know. Now that Banjo is playable, do you think we will have more Rare reps?
