It'll take a while before BK news arrive, but don't take it as a time to despair, but a time to train.
Honestly, between the four months before Joker and the three before Hero, two months mean nothing to me.

There will barely be enough footage for one training montage. Thankfully, "I need a Hero" memes are in high demand right now.

The Hero looks kinda busted but really really fun, and Banjo isn't feeling too far off right now.
I'm pretty happy.

Yeah it doesn't look like Banjo & Kazooie's page are going to be up until they've been released if the Fighters pass section in the Hero showcase video means anything.

One month and I'm still watching Vinny's reaction.

The quiet "oh my God" and "this is where they belong" always get me.
The part that gets me is him simply saying "I am so happy." You can just hear the pure jubilation in those words.

Not sure what the Fighters Pass section indicates. My guess is their page isn't up either due to a) waiting until Hero's released b) Banjo & Kazooie's content is still in development. I think it's possible we could get their page either the same time, or within a period of time after Hero's release. I don't expect them to wait until Fall to do it, and I hope not.

But, of course, no matter what happens... Banjo. And. Kazooie. Are. In. Smash. For. Real. Hype.

I'm starting to feel like they won't upload Banjo's page until when he releases :/
It's not really a big deal, they usually aren't very informative, but still...

Well anyways, so it's probably late september/early october, huh?

But that would be lame. The pages have some nice screenshots as well as the alts so I'd like to see those before 20 minutes before they get shadow dropped into the game.

I'm hoping the case is once the next fighter is revealed they'll get the same treatment Banjo & Kazooie are getting right now where their video is available on the main page, but their page will be inaccessible with just 'Coming Winter 2019' on the side, while Banjo & Kazooie's page finally unlocks. It is great they're officially confirmed to be in, but it really sucks we can't view their page when every other newcomer in the past has been accessible from the start. I agree with you Organization XIII Organization XIII , I'd be pretty salty if their page was only accessible once they were released. Also really freaking wish they would've continued making posters for the newcomers like they did in Sm4sh, cuz I would freaking go nuts for a Banjo-Kazooie x Smash Bros. poster to have in my home!

Didn't Cloud's Smash 4 page only go up right before his release? It might be a similar situation.

Banjo&Kazooie seem much likelier to get a press release down the line + actually be featured in a big Direct, be it general or Smash specifically.

We weren't gonna get things this soom regardless of how Hero was handled. I'm starved for info/footage as well, but seeing more now/knowing how far off it still would be makes the wait even more unbearable (guh-uh not intended).

Thing is, I remember Corrin and Bayonetta were the same way in Smash 4; their profiles didn't get updated with pictures, the poster, and trailer until they actually got released. So I imagine the same thing is going on with Banjo & Kazooie.

I just got all of the Jiggies, Honeycombs, and Cheato pages (my hands hurt after Canary Mary, though it wasn't as frustrating as I remember it being - the problem is that you have to be consistently fast, but pausing mid-race helps to give your hand a break), so now I just need to play through Cauldron Keep and I'll have beaten Banjo-Tooie 100%.

It holds up pretty well, though I prefer the simplicity of Banjo-Kazooie's levels. The quiz at the end is more forgiving than Banjo-Kazooie's (where getting some questions wrong resulted in instant death), and the achievements are much easier (you don't have to get every single collectible, or even all of one particular collectible, to get all of the achievements). Still, even though I prefer B-K's smaller levels, Banjo-Tooie feels more like an interconnected world.

EDIT: Just beat the Tower of Tragedy quiz, so now there's just Grunty herself. There are two Stop N Swop 2 bonuses tied to playing the boss rush, but given that the Replay mode doesn't carry over any collectibles from the base game (five hit points, the starting amount of oxygen, no upgrades for the amount of eggs or feathers that you have), it seems like it would be frustrating unless it was changed from the Nintendo 64 version, so I don't think I'll bother with those.

EDIT 2: I beat the game in eighteen hours on the dot. By comparison, Banjo-Kazooie took me nine hours and eighteen minutes to complete. I think I'll try Perfect Dark at some point - I've never played that before.

Erdrick is supposed to be a title, though the main character that's most commonly known by that title is the Dragon Quest 3 protagonist.

Alright, the Hero has officially dropped, and it looks like the update is actually downloading properly this time. I'll be giving my thoughts on him later.

So I’ve been testing out Hero in Training Mode, and here are my observations so far:

* Up Smash is very narrow. It’s like a short-range version of Vampire Killer. Nothing like Marth/Lucina at all.
* I haven’t achieved a critical hit yet outside of just using Hatchet Man.
* The energy in his F-throw is, I feel, pretty funny. He just friggin’ yeets the opponent!
* The spells seems pretty powerful. No wonder they decided to go RNG and tie it to the MP Bar.
* Sizz and Sizzle are not what I thought at all. That’s interesting.
* You actually can OHKO Metal Boxed opponent with Metal Slash. If someone can show me a video of Metal Special Smash with all Heroes, that would be great!
* Magic Burst, as expected, is friggin’ nuts.

Overall, I’m loving Hero in training. Off to fight as him in a Smash battle.

So, uh... guess who got a KO ao 0% in their first use of the Whack spell?

I'll post a more detailed impression of Hero later, but for now, I'll just say that he's really fun... though I can't see many people playing him at an optimal competitive level.

I finished the spirit board, 9.9 Classic, tested the stage with and without hazards, and even went to the sound test to figure out whose voice I like most. Hero is a fun addition. His Down B command window, its kinda hard for me to read it fast in the middle of a fight especially with 4 players because the window is smaller and harder to read, 8 player would be impossible to read XD. But you can turnaround just before casting which is cool. I guess I'll wait to see from pro players if he is actually a high tier, though casually he doesn't seem overwhelming because everything is so slow to charge or select, and his speed isn't much.

Crazy amount of specials, it's certainty fun to go all out with all the crazy effects, but I don't think I could handle the stress of playing him seriously. Banjo and Kazooie won't be nearly as wacky, though once they release I can't wait to play World of Light again with them and the other dlc charcaters

So far, I'm really enjoying Hero; I will say that using the Command Menu effectively is pretty tricky considering you're left prone, and there are some spells like Zoom and Metal Slash that don't seem that useful, but there are quite a few fun ones, and I love managing to kill someone with Thwack or Kamikazee! So, overall, I'd say the Hero's a good addition to the roster!

...Hocus Pocus can go screw itself, though.

Tonight marks my five year anniversary in joining Smashboards. Who would have thought that in five years time that we get Banjo & Kazooie, K. Rool, and Ridley all in the same game! Back then I wasn't as hopeful for the bear and bird but still believed in them that someday we would experience the fruition of victory. And now we got our biggest victory yet. Now Banjo & Kazooie are officially on deck to be released and I can't wait for it! I'm so glad to meet and be with all of you here! Cheers!

Just got the Fighter's Pass. Not for Hero, for Banjo & Kazooie. ;)

Hero is every single character and every single item in one character. Crazy, a little fun, but feels completely unfair and I'd be happy to see him nerfed completely next patch go-around.

Now that I got my fill with that, back to refreshing Banjo & Kazooie's page*.

*I know it won't be out for a while--maybe weeks, or even months--but I gotta.

Hero is completely crazy, ahahah. Lots of fun. I can't imagine myself playing him even vaguely seriously, though. He's basically a whole game in himself, and I feel like his randomness could also hold him back. He's clearly very good, though. The Side B is completely bonkers.

I'm glad Banjo & Kazooie are more traditional Smash characters.

Yeah, this too.
That new up B is what I've been wanting for months, I'm just too happy right now.

No buffs for K. Rool. Very sad day...

As for Hero, he's alright. Wasn't too excited when he was revealed and it doesn't look like my opinion changed at all. His moves have pretty decent range and his neutral and side special are pretty good but Down Special just doesn't seem very practical at all. Not only are you committed, the moves are entirely random. Sure there are some moves that are good like Kaboom and snooze but with the slashing moves like flame sword, you have to hope that your opponent is brain dead to be able to hit with them. It would have been better if the moves were saved for later use, then you'd be able to use them.

Anyway I beat Classic mode, got all of the spirits and now I'm just patiently waiting for Banjo & Kazooie. I'll finally be able to stay on topic!

So I'll be posting my Hero impressions here, since people on the Newcomer Thread seem to be getting defensive over it for no reason.

He's a good character. I think he'll be mid-high or high tier. Sure, he looks busted at first glance, but optimizing command select will probably hold him back the same way it did Shulk.

Interestingly, I actually think the RNG is what prevents him from being broken. Like, for one second, let's imagine he had different command selects for each special, as some people, myself included, imagined it would be.

Having a 10% heal at any time would probably not be the best game design choice. Bounce would shut down nearly every projectile-dependant character and the buffing moves would legitimately break Hero's consistent damage output. Moves like Whack and Twang would probably have to be removed entirely.

The only way to balance that would be nerfing the move or making it cost so much MP that players would have to second-guess using it.

Overall, he's a fun character to play casually... but no way in hell am I attempting to use Hero in tournaments.

On a sidenote: I really liked his Classic Mode. Though I still wish it was RPG game themed so we could have Hero vs Cloud, but... eh.

Another thing regarding 4.0: since we now know for a fact that not all DLC fighters come with new modes, I'm expecting the bare minimum in that front.

Like, Banjo comes with HRC and one of the last two come with a Boss Battle/Rush mode. That's it, no Targets, no Smash Run, nothing.

Call me a pessimist, but I don't know how much more we'll get, so I'm lowering my expectations early.

It did come with a new mode though, Online Tournament (and easy mode for world of light for some reason). Sure its not as big as stage builder or home run contest but the character is also much larger than Joker with 4 different voice actors and models.

Seems to me like it'd give good reason to save those for later if DLC comes after this batch, since big side modes like that can take a lot of work in and of themselves, so I'll just wait and see. I'm not expecting Break the Targets at all though, especially after the way it got treated on all fronts in Smash 4...
