Ah yes we've all been there.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind uploading them. I've synched everything up and all but my upload speed here is real slow and the files are kinda big and cbf making them any smaller. Just going to take a while is all.

Actually I might donate the capture card thing I won to the community to save me doing this in future XD

Worrying about messing up is a huge inhibitor in melee. Stick to your guns and go for it, go down swinging rather than wonder what might have been. On a side note, I can respect the decision to forfeit if you're really not feeling it on the day or whatever, but if you want to quit out I was recommend doing it BEFORE playing any bracket matches. Would have been skeezy to knock Tom into losers then forfeit out lol.
I felt kinda bad about forfeiting after my first set haha

I was like "I'll see how I go"
Game 1 my ICs get destroyed, I figure "might as well try and put up a fight"
Barely win games 2 and 3 with Peach and I thought "Yeah, nah, not feeling this at all". I didn't even realize who I was playing until someone said afterwards lol, compleeeetely out of it

But yeah, it wasn't like I was frustrated or rage quitting or anything, I just wasn't having fun (I think I said that to you after some friendlies, which is another thing I felt bad about in retrospect XD).

SD let me know when you upload my winners bracket sets against Ledge and Tibs. Not so much fussed about the losers bracket sets vs. each of them but naturally that will probably be uploaded first.
Feel free to take your time and upload the most popular and prestigious matches first (Attila vs Tibs), I merely ask for a heads up when my time comes.

Also to clarify, D34N's replays were saved using infinite replay hax on the wii. Not as sufficient as your set up.

Personally I can't wait for this new-fangled 'fibre wire' to get us the internet speed of pros!

Although I hear you have to pay money for it to be connected to your house which kinda sucks... I heard that in South Korea, they did a similar thing, only they said that residents who built a trench of a certain depth/breadth from the road to their house by a certain date would have the fibre wire connected to their house for free. :o

Wish Aus. did that. :p

? you don't have to pay money to get the NBN installed
except taxes i guess
but it may take years to get to your area
and ofc you still have to pay ISPs

Hey guys! I decided to randomly check in and it appears things went great! I'm back in Australia in about 6 or 7 weeks (in time for managing PAX crowds actually), so I'll get the ball rolling for SS with Attila around that time. I've been out of the loop for a while, but I'm sure you guys are hyping SS up already.

If anyone's got ideas on improving the tournament forumla or stacking on random events that are fun (and totally unrelated to Smash), I'm all ears. Woxy ears.

Turtle will be making an appearance this October too.

Ruff.

Need to talk about general TOing stuff with you Cao and gettin things a bit more cohesive. We need our own PA to make announcements and get people together for breifings, pool allocations and watching finals. I think maybe we should allocate a finals time where no friendlies will be played to get maximum crowd hype too, but if we get sponsored players over that shouldn't be a problem. Talk soon.

Also there is big issues with getting NBN rollout where I am Luco. It's something my newspaper has been covering extensively XD

yep yep.

cao should be around in about 7 weeks, so i wouldnt expect any major tourney discussions to be occuring anytime soon. i'll be discussing a few minor things with the shadowloo guys in the meantime though.

tvs off during finals was something that I tried to introduce a couple of years ago (after i got back from japan) and it wasn't very popular. in fact, it wasn't at all popular. suppose it might be different if the internationals are entertaining everyone, though.

or maybe the scene has matured since then...

Turning off TVs is a staple feature of 'Cao' tourneys, but hopefully, finals will be diverse enough to feature some interesting matchups deemed worthy of attention.

Internationals: Are we aiming to attract them for this tournament? If so, do we have any funding sources from the Shadlowloo/CW guys? Attila, if you could do me a favour, ask if they're willing to sponsor a Smash pro or two and see how we can recover the costs from entry fees, or Smash banks through local tournaments, etc.

SD: Yeah, we need to work on that cohesiveness. On top of your suggestions, I just randomly thought of something:
- Include every participant's mobile phone number as a requirement of registration. It'll make things easier for TOs to chase people who wonder off and DQ people if they don't respond to texts or calls. Also would be good for coordinating the masses on top of the usual equipment like a PA, which tends to get drowned out by all the noise.

Good idea on the mobiles - they do that in poker rooms to let you know when your table is ready too.

From my discussions with Attila, while not in depth, I understand that Shadowloo will be sponsoring two internationals per game somehow. Where that money is coming from is anyone's guess, but from what I can gather it would be 2x melee AND Brawl, but I could be off the mark.

In any event, imagine Dr Peepee vs out of retirement Armada grand finals... With a stream, which we should have, THAT would attract an international audience.

When was the last time Australia had big international names like Peepee to come to SS or something?

We had M2K at BAM in 2010 and Mango in 2011. Before that Ken and Captain Jack had also come to Australia.

Luco - while top internationals may push down locals' placings, if approached correctly, will improve your game substantially and contribute to better placings long term.

Yea, I know... i'm just going crazy because the prospect of meeting international top players in RL does my head in a bit. :D

It gives me a gigantic incentive to try to work so i can go. :D

So, is SS smash-exclusive or something a lot like BAM?

SS will be similar to BAM and includes many games.

My pool of players I want to meet/play irl:
Otori, Mikeneko, Masha, Ally, ESAM, Trela, Salem, Zero, Mr.R

If I had to choose 2 from Japan: Otori, Masha
If I had to choose 2 from other places: Ally, ESAM

If I had to choose 2 from the whole list: Masha and Ally

I like Izaw's sheik. Also, my friend SHuVL loves his Wolf.

Also, I'm not that big of a fan of Otori. Should I be?

Well done SD I'm truly surprised, thankyou very much for the speed, quality, and the gift of any form of recording from the event whatsoever (apart from a couple of games from D34N, good work to you champ ^.^)

That's an amazing return time on those uploads, relatively quite early after a tournament.
You have my gratitude

Now, to the Olimar boards...

I'm not super happy with the quality of my preset for smash but what can you do, I really need to get something that incorporates the audio as well... Either way glad I could be of service, it would have come sooner except that Telstra took 3 weeks to connect my net at my new house.

ANYWAY for those who are interested

Man Luco I saw your set vs Ledge. Ouch is all I can say! Plus you had to fight against a MetaLame, so winning was just nigh on impossible!

Oh and I'm calling the actual character lame, not the player BTW. MetaKnight is just a total party pooper!

Actually Lucas is the party pooper

Poopin' on your own party
Haha Eww!

Anyhoo, I think if Luco had more experience with the match-up he wouldn't have done so horribly, but it takes a lot to beat a good MetaKnight.
