I wish I could say I was with you on this, but I can't say it with certainty anymore....
Ever since I became a brony, well, let's just say that I've been second guessing almost everything about me.
How can I know if I'm not a furry? What exactly are the requirements for it? I'm pretty sure I've asked this question before in the past, but hey, what if the qualifications changed?

The saying "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" fits Lucario like a glove.
Anyways, there is a fear of being misjudged based on the label, and that consequently people will assume you're going to break into a tournament venue the night prior and plaster all the walls with furry porn. Or the misconception that that's what defines one.
There would probably be less closeted furries if people realized simply having an affinity (ha) for them counts too.
My reasoning is all fandoms suck because anyone can be considered a part of one. And most people just haaaappen to associate people with in a fandom with the worst of it's kind. The saying "A group is as strong as its weakest link" comes to mind here.
This is why I shall never consider myself a part of a fandom.
