I don't remember where, but I remember reading that cancelled moves get the same lag as landing lag, 4 frames, (which is essentially no lag).

Because then it would make more sense ALWAYS to use cancelled aerials whenever jumping and landing because it would make moving quicker. Or something.

EDIT: Or maybe I'm thinking of Melee.

Can somebody confirm this?
No, cancelled moves give you the lag you get as if you never did the move. In other words, if you were fastfalling before you did the move, you get 8 frames. If you weren't, you get 4. Landing lag is not 4 frames, landing lag is [4 frames if normal, 8 frames if fast fallen].

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. ;)

I've been having this issue since I moved and switched my ISP (last May). I'm tired of trying to figure it out myself so I've come here for some help. I try to connect to servers and none of them allow me to fully connect. I always get this:

Code:
(08:35:30PM) Connecting to 69.172.242.50:27888
(08:35:30PM) server replied
(08:35:30PM) logging in
I have no firewalls running or anything so that can't be the problem. I'm running Windows 7: 64 bit. If you need any more information, I'll gladly supply it. I just want this issue fixed :\

Thanks ahead of time though :)

i had the same problem, and after testing for a long period of time, i figured out it was the router,
so i purchased a new one, a systran wrt54gl (kinda pricy, though it is one of the best home routers, especially if you install the custom firmware that makes it into a router that is worth a lot more)
and everything was solved.

i guess that's a no! and the community has a pretty clear consensus that using the plugin for tilts is cheating?

yes. pretty much the whole community discourages it.

Unfortunately, no one is going to be able catch you...unless they disable nrage.

as crazy as it sounds, Im a bawrl player that got interested in melee, and now im interested in Smash64 since im having trouble learning how to play melee :)

Anyways, quick question on tourneys - Do they run the games off of Nintendo64's? Or do they use VC Smash 64? ive been playing VC Smash 64, and compared to the original, i play so much better and fluently with a Gamecube Controller than i do a Nintendo 64 controller lol

64 consoles, also to be fair if you had trouble keeping up with melee, 64 will frustrate you equally.

well, there also aren't as many tounaments as there are for melee and brawl,
but the vc port as frame skips so you cannot really use it for tournaments.
i would suggest giving online a try, as you can find a lot of players to train and play with, and moreover, you can buy a GC to usb adapter for like 10$ and play with the GC pad.

He's not kidding, if you think melee is hard wait until you're getting wall chained with tilts and grabs in the rapetent, getting shine canceled and shine gaurded, getting ***** by utilting kirbys, getting stuck in infinite congo holds, etc.

If i were you, i would first start off and use fox, he has a simple learning curve.

So I heard about replacing n64 joysticks, anyone tell me where to find them and just HOW its done? Was thinking about going back to 64 controller, but I really loath and detest having to replace controllers all the time cuz the joystick blows nuts harder than MATTS!.

melee, IMO, is by far simplier then learning smash. all you have to do is learn wavedashing/l-canceling.

I'm not going to respond to someone who obviously never played Melee and just trolls, but really, Fox, easy to start with ? Isn't Falcon or Kirby a much better choice to start ?

Well..you can replace it with many joysticks, which one are you excactly looking for..or do you just want a n64 joystick replacement?

either way, see this handy dandy thread: http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=1767

i just googled "how to replace an n64 joystick." I SURE AM SMART

I was gonna say kirby, mahie, but i don't want another utilter. :(

(in b4 someone says double post but mahie just posted and the thread just refreshed on my browser.)

Melee is definitely not "simpler" then smash64.

I would pick up Falcon or Kirby for an "easy" start.

You can NEVER go wrong with Pikachu though..you'll always win smash64 if you play pikachu.

@Surri:
If you want to beat a jiggy, don't let them get above you. You want to maintain the high ground, and force conflict to happen when they try to get around you. I personally use jiggly puff to maintain a sense of vertical domination with the ability to float and choose my angle when someone gets close....... but when you cut that off, you take away the ability of future moments/set-ups for attacks. Stress a jiggy player to use 3-4 jumps before they even have the chance to strike you causes them to be much less effective. I suggest B-air the most because its good at knocking away people forcing jiggy to set up her own pings on you.

Welcome to the community =3

I recommend learning how to play with both. Mostly N64 since its the default and will be used mostly at all 64 tourneys. If you need any help or have a question on anything you can PM me. Good Luck and Happy Smashing. :]

This is why I think fox vs jiggs is hard. Fox is a very horizontal character because his lasers are so good at controlling that horizontal space. Other characters have to enter the horizontal plane with fox, but jiggs can just float up there forever.
