ness utilt, and many more if timed right, pika utilt also works.
This. Kirby's dair iirc, Samus' screw attack & Doug's usmash ,to name a few, beats his uair .Everytihng depends on the angle of attack i guess.

when I'm teachin' some nubs how to dougie, and they're linkin' it up, what really annoys me is good bomb use. If a link only uses boomerang, he's easy to get inside of. Gotta use dat Down-B to break through Doug's cracked-up wall.
I don't actually play link, this is just my experience from the other side of the matchup.
camp falcon like youve never camped anyone before.
never try to go near him coz he'll just dash grab or some SHlT.
but when you do get caught in an usmash chain, DI as hard has you can.
for uairs, i guess you're pretty much screwed.
never go in the tent.
stay in the middle of the stage. for most times.
edge guard him as hardcorely as possible.(hes easy to edgeguard)
Link combos well on CF so try and get those usmash/utilts workin.

SPAM PROJECTILES

Edit: i see you said "not a spammy one"
But theres just no other way.

Lol, all very valid points n effective nonetheless, both of you; I'm looking for an alternative to the traditional anti- **** measures though. One that'll promote an aggressive Link.Campy, spammy Links are annoying imo.
Although I'm starting to believe there's not much options in those situations, 'specially against those grab-happy Falcons :c

Been trying to utilize Link's disjointedness and range of his melee attacks compared to Doug's as a substitute to the distance n projectile barrage, but frame-for-frame Doug clearly has the advantage, so :/

1. Learn to Combo falcon with link..like Falcon combos link! It's possible (this means dont be afraid to Usmash and then connect like 3-4 Utilts...you may need to walk)

2. Apply pressure from the middle of the stage (this will prevent easy gimps and wont revolve around you camping in some stupid area)

3. Use your projectiles (why do you think you've got them)

4. Gimp falcon (link can gimp too ...falcons recovery also sucks)

This needs to happen more. You dont always have to be flashy and backwards utilt them from their recovery and combo that. A simple fsmash usually does the trick (hits very low). If you want to beat falcon and NOT camp, you NEED to abuse falcon's terrible recovery. Another interesting technique that I learned from Sophious is the use of his grounded UPB to edge guard ledgehopped falcons. Once falcon is on the ledge, move away a slight distance and try to intercept him with upb while he does his ledgehop.

Of course dont spam this, but its a good move to mix in with your other techs.

worst case scenario, they shield before your upb hits them which most likely will push them off the edge anyway, giving you time to escape.

This upb tech is much faster than fsmash so instead of dash pivot fsmash, a dash grounded upb could be used.

We've got 3 mods so I don't think we're exactly looking for open spots lol. I remember Blue Yoshi got his position because we didn't have a mod at the time and were annoyed because it was the same old story of the higher-ups not treating Smash 64 with the respect we deserve.

Moogle got his because the Admins decided we needed another one and Moogle looked to be the best candidate to them.

I think Surri posted how he got his modship but I forget.

Basically the rule for almost every forum I know is that the more you ask to be one the less chance you have getting it. If you're right for the job and we actually do need another mod they'll choose you.
Thank u Ciaza :chuckle:

you don't play link because he's an awesome character you play him because he's fun

therefore edgeguards like 'run off double jump f-air' are like two hundred times superior to boring f-smash

in seriousness, smashes will work, but never ever forget a simple edgehog.

Use fox tail at lower %. down tilt. it will not kill samus usually but it beats samus up+b. If samus is above 60-70% this will make her survive the edgeguard though (probably) by sending her too far up.
A good samus will be always hard to edgeguard though, unless you knock her so far away.

I <3 you cheeseball.

Kuz has a point, albeit a highly emphasized one, but it's there. It's actually kind of sad to gimp Doug sometimes; like when you see the 0- death stuff he's capable off, only to be felled by a dsmash (or bomb, lol).Makes you pity the poor guy who's playing him..but then they start all over with the juggle madness, the nice feeling's gone n all you wanna do is see him plummet helplessly after flailing in the air with a Doughug.

Anyway, for the samus dillemma, try making her use her jump early by shooting a couple
dozen
of lazers.Spacing well with a bair works well as a followup, or if you're worried about the screw attack but feeling bold, try a reverse shine off the ledge if you think she's gonna sweetspot.Watch out for the invincibility frames though.

The best thing to do to samus is try to "poke" her away from the edge by using aerials to edgegaurd (forcing her out of an easy recovery) ...then simply grab the edge when she tries to sweet spot ...owned!

I've been wondering for a while...

Is it possible to create a kaillera client with a built in friends list (avatar compatibility), highly secure built in leaderboards for popular games played on kaillera, mic compatibility, and Account Names to prevent posing and fronters ?

If only we can get some programmers from project Melee and Project M to help us out, then we can just hand them the source code and throw them the ideas. It would be better if some of the programmers were 64 fans, then they'll feel like that they've got something out of it than a person who doesn't like 64 as much and gets nothing out of it but the admiration of the community and felt like they just did because someone told him too. We're basically looking for a person who's willing to do it, which is not as easy as it seems. If I'm not mistaken Firo said he was taking programming, and he has some experience with it. I'm also planning on becoming a programmer in the future.

Besides all that I'm pretty sure its possible to program some of these things into client.

yes. i've been working on something similar
EDIT: Ok now we know its possible we just need programmers to make it happen. Thank u Glow :)

you have the kaillera source code, there is not question about the ability to do it, but i doubt it will be done, could be a lot of work.

Me, James and a few others pioneered it ages ago. I might dig up a mic soon but I'd only be able to use it when my family is out.

Why to why I pioneered it, why to why I might dig up my mic, or why to why am I only able to use it when my parents go out? Hell I'll answer all 3 since I'm just cool like that.

1. Because I'm awesome
2. Because I'm awesome and like digging.
3. Because I'd look like a loser playing Nintendo and yelling at Dsc for being a homo camper in front of my family seeing as my computer is located in a living room.

The hitbox on Kirby's bair is very large and arguably the best way to approach at low percents since it goes straight to utilt.

Look up Fireblaster's handy dandy hitbox picture thread it might be in there.

EDIT: Reading back my answer to question 3 can be interpreted in a few ways but basically it's the one that insults Dsc the most.

Question about p2p:

I'm at college now, and therefore can't access routers to forward ports, and all that jazz. UConn likes to be a ***** and close lots of ports except for a select few (I can only torrent using a proxy), however if I'm not using a proxy, once in a blue moon, I'll find somebody on an open port who I can download from. But that's beside the point.

Can I host? Answer is probably no. So can I join?

And how many of you are on a college setting and what are your experiences with it? Somebody want to test it with me?

you can use hamachi or tunngle to set up a virtual lan with another and host that way.

Ive got a question about hamachi, its basically for people who cant port forward right? So is hamachi basically the exact same as hosting p2p through port forwarding etc? Coz hell, id be using hamachi all day instead of server if thats the case.

This Hamachi business sounds rather fascinating. Is there a guide on here on how to set it up, or is it self-explanatory?

And do I want the Unmanaged or Managed version?

You need unmanaged...all you have to do once it's installed is join an existing network...then you use the IP next to the persons name as the IP to connect to for P2P

hamachi works nothing like forwarding ports.
forwarding ports allows users to interact with your network on said port.
in hamachi, you connect to an hamachi server and establish a virtual private network, like you two sit on the same local area network though you are not really connected, then your pcs can work without having to forward ports.
however still means using a server instead of connecting directly and hamachi's protocol itself is not that good, i would recommend tunngle for that.

If you can find an open port to host on then it would work. I'm in a college dorm and currently host on port 6112 since it is unblocked by request for some other online games. I would try emailing your technology help department to see if they can open a couple ports for you. If not, finding an already open port or using hamachi is your best option.
