I know lots of people are preparing for Apex so first off, good luck to everyone. Secondly, what better time to go back to the basics?

I need a fox combo. Doesn't have to be 02D but that would be cool. It's me so please nothing too complicated or flashy, just something to get me going with the character. A staple if you will.

I am assuming it will start with SH dair but whatever you have in mind works too. Also, please be specific as to which characters (ish) it will work on. If you really are a champ, a 02D on mario would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance

Anyone know the best site for brand new n64 controllers or replacement joysticks? I'm looking around but most I see are suspicious or are those gamecube styled replacement sticks that I hear suck.
I bought a replacement stick at lukie games.

The springs are kinda shoddy but if you replace the spring with one from a stock controller it seems to be an acceptable replacement thus far. The one they sent to was even already greased (if your's isnt definitely grease it). Cost like $10.

Don't buy the gamecube style ones. They skip and have delay issues.

I'm having a hard time understanding which character that would do enough damage to for the usmash to kill. Very likely I'm doing it incorrectly though. Is this from 0%? Also, is uair a realistic/safe approach on fox?

Once you play long enough you can tell who is good or not by name.
i dunno xXEpona420MLGQucikspopz69SWAGXx, ¨°PP-§°¨ »ªVª« [N-T]ep1c4dawin[P-G] iXi, and YoQueiroTacoBell seem like good players to me

would definitely play TEAMS with them

On mario the only easy thing i can think of is like aerial -> dtilt -> dair -> utilt -> dair -> jab jab usmash or aerial -> utilt x 4 -> fair -> fair -> usmash

These are sweet thanks man. This will be a great start.

But I still wonder if uair is a reliable approach option as fox. I feel that I only see it like once a match in games that I watch, if that. As always, could be wrong here though.

Short hop uair most underrated Fox approach. Also don't listen to anybody saying utilt/dtilt -> dair, uair is better after dtilt/utilt 9 times out of 10.

When you SHDL as fox (obviously), do people slide the buttons or just have quick thumbs? I see people like Sensei do like 500 in a row and wonder if it's a matter of practice or if I should change my technique. I'm lucky to get it more than 2 or 3 times consecutively. I currently tap the buttons individually with my thumb.

I realize this was recently addressed to a degree in the fox discussion but I was wondering if I could get everyone's take on it.

Nobody's fingers are too slow for that. Just practice (and even if you can't SHDL you should be doing SHL instead of going laserless lol)

Honestly I have more trouble making sure the first laser comes out fast enough for a second laser to be possible, rather than having trouble timing the second laser. It just seems like a lot of work to tap that fast over and over. I'm going to give sliding a try. Thanks for all the replies

Smartphone fast swipe motion + timing

Taught my 6y/o cousin LOL

If each pew and pause were a 1/4 note, would be like pew, pew, pause, pew(pew, pause...repeat) at like 185bpm I wana say

This has been probably asked a million times but i going through 200 pages to find the answer is a bit too much.

But can anyone link a guide to how to play ssb64 online. i know you need project 64, but what else.

Thank you

@Vkrm Winner order of same frame deaths is reversed (4>3>2>1)

The number of possible DI input depends on the hitlag of a move. Check the data thread, I've written the hitlag frame number for each move.
So hitlag of attacker = DI window of opponent?

Does port priority function any differently in 64?

:phone:
Same frame grabs is given to lowest port. But this rarely ever happens because the whole grabbing thing is really complicated as I understand it. But, in the wild case that hitboxes and timing is the exact same, p1>p2>p3>p4.

Correct me if I'm wrong

SK: roughly, yes. In fact there are two kind of frozen frames: the attacker's (we call it hitlag) and the attacked (DI window). Both are of equal number of frames, except for projectiles (0 for attacker and x for attacked). Since they're equal, we can make that shortcut (DI=hitlag).

It's all written in the other thread.
