Our last tournament had over 8 games, more than 70 players across five different states, and a total pot of over $1000! This is an Arkansas tournament too! However, we're not satisfied. We want to make ARK II much bigger and better than last time. You guys can help! Please let me know if you're coming whether on here or the official thread. Our Smash turnout last time wasn't great (12 for Melee and 13 for Brawl) and I know we can do much better than that!

but working out the details with phil later like $5 door free then $10 singles (or $5) and teams of course but would put Ace, Anden, Chamberlin, and G.Vice on power rankings if all goes well.

But, if people are serious bout getting the PR system back up, they should have Jack or someone high in smash rep re-open the official midsouth thread. Ya know, do it all official and stuff.

That sounds amazing! Fridays or Saturdays? I vote Saturday nights, or even better, Saturday afternoons at like 1:00 like the Memphis triweeklies used to be.

As far as Memphis is concerned, I'm cool with that. Wednesday night powerplays are pretty much out of the question, but something on Saturdays and to a lesser extent Friday nights is ok as long as I can leave at a decent hour to get back Sunday church (I sing/play guitar now at church, so I can't be exhausted for that...) I have a good car now, and I can drive myself and anyone else who would want to go back that night.

I can't speak for Ace, Anden, and Vice though... But, I think it sounds pretty cool

Well I'm thinking of going to this thang for the AR gaming rep (maybe we can actually get a decent gamer turnout in this state). My main focus will be SCIV but I'll go for Melee since I doubt many show up for SCIV. I'm still rusty and haven't been able to put the time into the game like I wanted to (due to summer school/work/p90x) so you'll prolly see my semi samus at this thing only.

Edit: Wait, scratch that, I might do T6 instead of melee and just come for melee friendlies. I've been curious to see how my julia would do at a tourney. And seeing as I could practice T6 more than melee since I have it, I'll have a better prep.

We had 70 gamers last tournament but sadly about 30-40 of them were there from Arkansas SRK and about 10-20 of them were from OOS. Only like 10-20 Arkansas Smashers showed up last time unfortunately. I seriously hope we get a better turnout from AR smashers this time. It was pretty depressing only having a few Smashers come to our tournament when the Arkansas Smash community is probably far bigger than any other fighting game community in the state. They did have WHOBO last time though, so I'll give them that.

We thank you greatly for your contributions. One of the best things about running this tournament is seeing what the Arkansas gaming community can do. Some would say that Mike and I run this tournament. I'd argue that the Arkansas gaming community as a whole play a much larger part than they're given credit for- with organizing and helping with ARK I and II. Members of the SRK community have known about ARK I and II before the other communities and they have provided input on the name of the tournament, flier design, outreach, and much more.

However, even with our low turnout for Smash last time, the Smash community still did a lot that us ARK organizers really appreciate. Whether it be Yoshimanssbm offering to put up fliers (like you're doing for ARK II), VTS bringing setups even though he couldn't make the entire tournament, or even just random Smash players coming up to me after ARK I and thanking us for running an event dedicated to Arkansas gamers (while encouraging us to run more tournies in the future), the Smash community here is really dedicated and definitely some of the friendliest gamers I've seen. Without the Arkansas fighting game community as a whole, we wouldn't be able to run these tournaments and make them as successful as they are. Everytime anyone thanks us, I tell them to thank themselves and their fellow gamers as ARK is a collective effort. It's kinda cliche'd but our tourney is designed to be "By Gamers, For Gamers."

Haha, anyway I'm just rambling but what I'm trying to say is thanks everyone for helping us be successful and thanks especially to you SeiferSythe for going out of your way to put up fliers. We're trying a new venue with Conway Gaming Center and I hope we exceed expectations. If there is anything we can do at any point, whether it be now or at the day of the tournament, please let me know someway, somehow. Well the thing that gets me about this is that someone is trying to bring Arkansas tournies to the state and for that I'm all for it. I've been waiting for something like this for years, and now it's here, I support it 100%. The other thing that gets me is that I'm fairly broke now and can only help minimal lol (ironic I know). I would enter all the tournies but I don't think I have the money for it. I also have a tourney coming up on the 14th of August in Texas (Mashfest) and the National Iron man tourney FSAK (Mass) on like the 12th-14th of sept. So I'll see how it goes. If I can get some Melee practice in between now and the tourney I might enter that too, but no promises.

Hey guys, final call for our ARK II on July 31st. We have a ton of players already coming in for multiple games and we'd love to have a crapload of smash representatives also. Haha yeah. I feel that. I'm sure there are some great TOs within the Smash community also. I haven't been around here long enough to know either way though. As far as being broke, I definitely understand that. I think all of us are broke haha. To be honest, for ARK I I wanted all tournies to be $5 but most of the hardcore players were just like "if you want people to come, you have to make it $10." Same with venue fee, it was gonna be $7.50 for ARK I, but we ended up moving to a more expensive venue and had to up the costs. Anyway, I hope things work out for you and if nothing else, I hope you have a lot of fun. Thanks for coming last time
