I play several characters and have no qualms with switching to Yoshi, G&W or even MH but I am a dedicated Kirby. Playing as him just feels right.
With any other character, I have to think about my moves. With Kirby, they just happen. It's as if he and me are one.

This probably seems completely laughable to anyone who hasn't played Melee to my extent but that's just how it is.

I play a very long list of fighters, especially melee. For every fighter, I always stay with one characters and rarely, at times, I have a secondary or two. I just can't play with character I do not like. Take SF for example, I play Vega only because the rest of the cast in every game he is in do not interest me and playing the game with these character will just bore me. Same applies to melee.

My main has been Samus since N64, and continues being my main in Melee because she seemed like such a cool character when I first picked her up. Blast, missles, robotic armor, etc. (thought it was a guy at first. Sorry, I rarely play nintendo games). Will be using her again in Project M. Same applies to my secondary Game and Watch (I like weird characters) and to my melee third Mewtwo (So bad ***, yet such a weak character in several match ups), who I just picked up recently. :)

In every fighting game I play, I learn the cast but I always get attached to one chracter more than the others. 2 in the case of Soul Calibur 2 where Lizardman is 2player only and in Bloody Roar where Uranus is simply unfair.

What's with how people are stereotyping Peach mains? Humble? Cocky? Insecure?

It's obviously effeminate.

Ironically enough, the move of hers that gets me is dash attack. You think I'd know how long it is. :urg:

peach is a really annoying opponent. I have no idea whether or not that reflects in the players but seriously. That up b hitbox basically says "attack me from above and infront any you die".
ok, sure, being forced to grab turnips when you mean to attack is pretty annoying too but that's more of an issue with the mechanics of item use that an issue with peach. Other than that, airborne "hammer time" is my biggest issue with the matchup.
Downsmash, bro. That is the move you should be complaining about.

I definitely love Ganondorf and Donkey Kong more than any fictional characters, so naturally, when they're in a fighting game, it's going to make me super happy to use them.

I'm pretty much obsessed with Ganondorf, though.

But I do play like 8 characters next to Ganondorf in friendlies/teams, so I don't limit myself as much as I may think.

It's not as much of an emotional attachment as it is a pride thing. Come to think of it, I dont use Ganon in friendlies nearly as much as I should, simply because when Ganon comes out it becomes a seriously instead. I have a lot of pride in my Ganon, to the point of not even joking around with him (too much).
this. we ganondorf players think alike. :)

My friend is a Ganon main and he's crazy obsessed with Ganon, like probably chooses Ganon 90-95% of the time in friendlies even.
I feel like when players first start getting into the game, they stick primarily to their main, even in friendlies. But the longer one plays, the more they'll begin to experiment with more characters.

lol.

I've been playing for ten years.

I discovered peach in '06.

Never played another character in a tournament after that.

Last time i played another character in a friendly was 9 months ago.

after playing peach for that long i just can't use anything else......sort of like racism!

Old people get set in their ways.

That's you. Doesn't mean most people are like that. And frankly I think people who play one character over 99% of the time are weird.

I used to have an emotional attatchment to link cause zelda: oot was the first deep video game experience I ever completed. But after a while I started liking the characters for their mechanics in melee
rather than "oooooo, my favorite"

Give it time.

You'll start hating black people eventually too.

When I was your age we had to walk 15 miles in the snow to hate black people.

Then 15 miles back.

In Toronto Im known as that guy who switches characters every to every other game. I generally use about 20 characters during friendlies. Then about an hour to half an hour before pools I go Fox. Its just for some reason when I use Fox when warming up at tournaments I play like *** and lose confidence. But as I get better Im becoming more confident and now I can pick my controller right up and go Fox and play fine. Its lovely..

Still use too many characters in friendlies though...
