You also have to take into acount that there's a frame delay of one, that might not be accounted for. Either way, dsmash is prob. the fastest smash in the game startup-wise.

yeah so... grab = 2 frame difference so if they could shield dsmash some how a grab would still work against ALL options.

well not against invul frame 1-3 options put yeah... I just dislike the dsmash option so much...

I would love a 2 frame grab, but the reason it works is because you can't shield a grab, not because it's somehow the fastest grab in existence (beating out even Street Fighter 4's frame 4 grab).

Grabs also had a higher significance in Melee imo, since for the most part not only were they a combo starter or CG, but they were also the common answer to someone who crouch canceled most of your other options. The main drawback to grab is the lag afterward, as it almost always leaves you open.

In melee I played a crazy old school samus. There was no such thing as grab for me, lol.

IMO grabs are just as important here. since most characters don't really have combos or CGs its a way to get past that shield option which is so much more powerful in brawl.

That is true, and there are more potent CGs in Brawl overall, so I suppose there's good argument for both.

You also get the grab armor in brawl and grabs seem less laggy and the fact that punishes are as brutal. they make the grab option that much more powerful even on whiff.

Keep in mind that the grab armor in Brawl is equivalent to grab simply outright winning in Melee.

From what I remember, while ROB's is technically 4, the sideward hitbox doesn't come out until a frame later.

doesn't work for smashes. the smash subactions start after the charge frame for whatever reason.
specials would be iffy, too.

Yeah, frame advance is the best for that sort of stuff. PSA is okay for jab/grab/tilt stuff though.

Except stuff like smashes/specials are not fully implimented (like charge/article data) because this is pretty much a straight rip of PSA/OSA
