the idea of having not done enough as a charitable event for a passed friendis a bad and honestly, kind of a stupid thought process. thats still 186 dollars and 18 people that wouldnt have helped the cause otherwise.

Jerry, we've already talked about this over AIM, but please don't give up! Don't let me being a bad mentor/sparring partner/person stop you from getting what you want! ;_; Or at least, just stop playing this game when it just isn't enjoyable, not just because you keep losing constantly. That's a bad note to leave on.

Uhm, as for how the tournament went... yeah... I kinda... somehow beyond my own knowledge, just got so deep in the bracket.

I'm not sure if I just got better as a player, or if I finally got an idea of how to properly play the Falco matchup. If you look, you'll see I beat not only Ven who I lost to a previous tournament, but I also beat Hino; who up until now I had a consistent losing streak that was probably pushing double-digits.

I could go on to say what happened throughout the whole tourney, but maybe I can keep this short.

Basically played Z. He'd be beating me with Falco because he knows I have trouble with that MU. Finally managed to beat it and made him go Pikachu. I think I may have lost because it's been so long since I've played a competent Pikachu so I just kinda derped.

... No I really derped, I got eliminated from the bracket because I ended up airdodging after my Spring and I didn't snap to the ledge. From this point I figure, I should make my opponents kill me, not do the work for them.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Playing Hino was nothing short of suspenseful. The first match I lost, but it wasn't sanctified because I called it out how he killed himself before my last stock got taken off... he Star-KO'd me and Phantasm'd off the side as a sort of joke/clowning but did it too soon so the game thought I had won. I made a deal with him saying we can not count it; and because he is a friend and I didn't want to completely **** him out of what was an obvious game lead.

What I can't figure out for the life of me was whether or not that was the deciding factor for me. You would think at first that since he went on to win the "second" game anyway that it was going to be another loss. Perhaps taking it to an extra game might've given me enough time to study his playstyle, or maybe after that I put it into OVERDRIVE! and just played smart. I wish I had the replays, but if I had to give a recap of what happened, I think it was I stopped approaching like a ****** and finally made him guess. I would intentionally stop outside of his attack range to see what he would do and try and punish from there. He and I also both noticed that I shielded everything he did all the way through and the typical "combos" that would normally work on other people or people who let go of their shield too soon didn't work on me and he couldn't get damage on me, let alone kill me.

I also managed to find the perfect timing to Sawnik Pawnch him out of any Phantasms on stage. By the end of the last game, I think I won with my second stock still intact; yes it got to that point that I could finally read him, see his habits, and punish while at the same time making it incredibly difficult for him to get in (No I didn't plank damn you people!). The first games were last hit though, and before it was him that had commanding leads on me, so I guess I did make some improvements to my game.

Guess I apparently had to play Ankoku next round. By this point, I definitely think it was just me being on fire or something, because his Marth was kinda... just not working out for him. Next match he goes Sheik, and... uhm, I would say in the little time he went Zelda, that just killed what hope for winning the match he may have had. I'm sorry but while I may not be the best person to play the Sonic Vs. Zelda MU, anybody who at least knows how Zelda works to some degree will know that when you're at a high percent, one wrong move and you'll get killed.

Though to be fair, talking to him later he admits that his Zelda just isn't that good... Definitely not on Ven's level at least, and he did a misinput which gave me one kill. I would like to see if it'd be any different if he could just be more precise with his inputs, and either got better with Zelda or dropped her all-together. It didn't help him that the poor guy gave me some Marth experience and tips a while back, and I didn't do anything but only give him a slight idea of what it means to play a semi-competent Sonic... Yeah, because that's definitely going to help him in many other places... :X I'm such a b****.

Oh hey speaking of b****es and Zelda's, guess who I got to play next!

Yep yep. The salty runbacks didn't stop there! Tough to be fair, it wasn't salty, Ven is a pretty cool guy, and he's definitely skilled... Just... why he plays Zelda, even he asked me that question when we were playing.

... How do I work around Dat FSmash wall dammit! Everytime he did it, I either had to shield and retreat, or I got hit! If he just did that the entire match I would've lost! ;_; Oh yeah, lolspoilers, I somehow won 2-0.

Tony just brought it up about how the second time around I stopped falling for so many Din's. Took me a match to remember that when Zelda's land with Din's onstage, they usually do it pretty high up... by then, the projectile is so big and powerful that you almost just have no choice but to shield and let her land. I think that's what it is, you just gotta respect these characters and then you can win.

I couldn't tell you how I did it though. After that, I asked Tony how/why I was doing so good despite me being in disbelief (honest!). He said that going OoS gives me a new perspective and allows me to see things I would not under normal circumstances... Ironic that I say I don't see it. I can't believe that learning one simple concept gets me this far, but so it goes. I would be lying if I said that I was a smart player when I'm actually playing the game. I love talking to this guy, everytime I do it's like I learn something that might've taken me so long to find out on my own, if even finding out. Even though I'm said to say I'm still pretty stupid when it comes to being able to apply all this new found knowledge, and in a quick manner.

Anyway I've already said, I lost to Z next match in losers. I think as long as I can stay consistent and keep improving on the Falco matchup, I'll force him to use Pikachu and eventually figure out what I'm suppose to do and how to do it, then from that point it's just up to me to be the better player.

I definitely got this! I'll make everyone proud and become another one of the greats with Sonic. and I'm here to stay for an incredibly long time until I reach that goal, and long after!

Someone get me sexual harassment counseling though. I don't like the fact that I got felt up, and liked that. >_< Even though I know he already has a girlfriend and is kind of just a cool troll, it still doesn't feel right somewhere. Michael~, Uair U @~!? I need halp~!! ;_;

On a lighter note, dubs is dubs. I need to find a way to improve my synergy with my partner, whomever that is at that moment.

Oh, and to finish, I hate *******. I love everyone else though, makes this world interesting and not such a bad place. Thank God for the block feature though.

After talk on aim last night i'm not going to give up and quit. If i did right now it will be on both terms. I lost motivation for this game right now so this game won't be enjoyable. Kinzer, you are not a bad mentor or person. I'm just a bad student who lost motivation. For the past few months i lost motivation in everything...brawl and school. I've been so stressed out on everything as well as depression. I'm hoping during the summer i can regain motivation again and prove to myself i am a good sonic player. I know my visiable problems. I need to work on them then find my problems that i can't see.

Also i know i didn't say this but I'm really proud of you Kinzer. I just hope i can make you proud of me one of these days.

"What little hope I had"? Unless you're two stocks up on me and I'm at 200%, I'm not out of chances to win. As it was, we were both at last stock, and I was at 136%. **** happens, but part of playing involves not just deciding to give up 'cause of some big lead that really isn't that insurmountable. As for my Marth, he was underperforming, and not just against you. I suppose that makes sense, though, given how much I've used Marth as of late.

As to matchups, there aren't any matchups that I play that I go into not knowing. Any practice I get tends to be more working on my overall play rather than closely going over a matchup that, honestly, can probably be played for 10 minutes and figured out to a decent degree from there.

On other stuff, Zelda, misinputs, etc. you're rambling. My own failings are part of me, saying you want to play me without all my mistakes and with a better Zelda might as well be saying you want to play someone else entirely. :V You also might not see my Sheik for a while, since I'm going right back to my original goal of taking a top 8 with solo Peach lol.

Duuuuude~.

You could've had me fooled. I tend to get so discouraged if I see people not dying. I get so impatient, and I just want them to die so I can move on. Sometimes I wonder why I even play this character if I have these particular pet peeves. ;_;

I didn't mean anything I said in an insulting manner, it's just my re-caps. I promise you, I (don't try to be a) buttmunch. I'm sorry I can't properly express myself 'cause I'm an idiot.

Anyone can take forever to kill, really. People tend to play a lot more carefully when they're about to die in a single hit. Patience goes a long way.

Okay~.

That offer is always up though, I can give you all the Kinzer/Sonic experience you want, so if you feel like learning how to beat my *** one day via salty runback(s), either through execution or analysis (I'm not speaking on behalf on anyone like that again anytime soon; and I'll say I'm not sure what it is this could possibly help you with lol; nobody plays Sonic and he's not a good character/I'm a pretty lulzy player. @_ @), I won't hold back.

Just look at the newest results. I'm happy for the most part, but gotta play better. More top 5/8. More Ws in our pockets. No more of these double digits placing. This is the only way we make a splash.

Tesh, I would trade spots with you any day of the week, San Antonio players are all nowhere near as good as Houston except for maybe Espy, Kprime, Megafox, and Nike. I'd rather be in a region where I'm vastly outskilled that way at least I can learn more in a given time. Not to mention San Antonio's been pretty much dead as of lately as far as activity goes.

Zero, San Antonio is pretty good. Your comparing us to Houston, literally a top3 city in the world lol.

You know how many Sonic players would trade places with you for the chance to watch/play with Espy whenever they wanted?

Population of at least somewhat skilled Brawl players:

Norman: 4
Tulsa: 4

Pretty much it.

Tournaments here barely reach over 15 players, lol. It helps that the other 3 players in Norman are rather good, but there come times when I would like to have other skilled blokes here, or I go down to Texas for a few weeks, or whatever.

I've got another OK monthly this weekend. Denti is supposedly going to it. Should be fun.

The only bad thing about Houston is their sports teams sucks:D. If Yao ming doesn't get hurt next year. I predict Houston smash players will dominate.

POSSIBLY NIKE!!!? POSSIBLY!!!?

THIS!! alot of other Sonics probably live in a region as "dead" as yours and their top players aren't pikachu, marth, fox or sonic. Its probably MK or Snake.

But, I guess I am quite lucky to some extent.

really zero? lmao. I'd say you're vastly outskilled, since you get last at every local.

alright that was kind of mean, but you NEED to stop blaming san antonio. Espy Kprime Nike Megafox, they all live in this "garbage" city, and are good. They got good despite not having the best of competition. Before you were even in the scene, San Antonio barely got a tournament every 2-3 months. You think this is dead? really? Figure out a way to improve without having amazing a city full of national level players, because thats basically what you're asking for. Also, don't call San Antonio garbage, i'll kill you.

SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALTYYYYYYYYYYYY

Houston may have players like Gnes, Razer, Trela, Jerm and Illmatic, but I'm sure just being skilled in general at the game would allow you to get alot of experience from San An top players secondaries and whatnot.

Hell there are alot of matchups I have still NEVER played offline.

which is why I said, I'd trade places w/ Tesh and wouldn't be complaining about living in houston. :3 I wasn't really trying to insult SA's level although to be honest looking back on it, it definitely does seem that way :/ but more that there's a big skill difference between Houston and SA, and thus that Tesh should be happy he lives in houston, not complaining that it's rough :)
LOL @ YOU

explain this please in depth so I can prove your logic wrong
Yerr stoopid. :)

really zero? lmao. I'd say you're vastly outskilled, since you get last at every local.

when was the last local I attended again? 2months ago? O.o sure is a long time mr. I lost to Tesh in tourney. XD Actually, no dissin' Tesh is actually pretty decent :)

I wasn't blaminganyone I was saying Tesh is lucky he lives in houston, and instead of complaining that it's a tough region, that he should appreciate it.
i'll kill you.
not quite sure what to say to that one.
oh and @Tesh you're right Nike is definitely better than I was giving him credit for, I mean he did take a match from razer and beat illmatic in MMs, and stuff :3

Except that Paw never called our city garbage while implying that he'd rather be elsewhere because of it, Suspect.

@KID: So does everyone not in S-Tier in Texas, KID.
He'd destroy you no problem, and I have absolutely no doubts about that claim.
