A character that holds importance both storywise and gameplaywise for a large portion of the game. Normally the main characters are Lords, but characters like Mist or Titania who have large amounts of dialogue during the story are also considered main characters.

Sothe, unfortunately, doesn't fit this catagory because he loses significance for a large portion of the game both storywise and gameplaywise.

Part 2,3, and 4 he dies and it's no big deal. I do agree he's an important character, just not really a central part of the story or gameplay. I guess you can consider him a "main character" by my definition, but I think that a game can only have so many "main" characters. For GoD my main characters are Ike, Elincia, and Micaiah. Sothe is close afterward, but I've got that trilogy mindset. For PoR I had Ike, Elincia (even though you only got her for a few chapters she was extremely important storywise), and Titania.

At that point in time Sothe could be considered one of the most important characters in the game however, as time goes on and the story unfolds Sothe loses the importance he first had during the beginning.

A main character can have several supporting characters that vary in importance. Sothe is one of those supporting types.

I don't know about Yamcha and Tien. They kinda lost importance the further the show got.

Sothe has to make it out of the first part, but after that he can go away for a very long time since the focus shifts when you get to play as Ike and it doesn't really shift back. Sure you get Micaiah again, but Ike remains in the spotlight with Micaiah playing second seat and no room for Sothe.

I'm sorry but he's not essential to all the parts of the game barring part 1. I mean sorry to say this but you are either a extreme Sothe fan or something else entirely, I mean several posts in this thread regarding the Sothe issue have been very clear. At least from my perception.

Just please except that he's not important to the entire story. He's important in part one thats all. Sure you could make up a million what if senerios but that's not what happens in the Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

Im not an extreme Sothe Fan Im an extreme Gaara fan but Im putting it in the perspective that things would Change Majorly w/o him so much that the game developers/storywriters made it game over w/o him How about this when we get the game we can continue this Because this is going nowhere Im seeing Legit points on both sides. Actually. If you go back in time and kill my parents then I'll never be born. That means that you'll never go back in time to kill my parents because I never existed to begin with. So that means my parents never got killed so I was able to be born. The lives of everyone involved with me or anyone related to me in some way in the future would be stuck in a paradox making ME the most important character, not my parents.

I suppose it does. Since we're limited to the GBA Fire Emblems and Tellius, we don't have that many Lords to choose from. Every Lord that's deconfirmed raises the chances for another.

I would be disgusted if Ephy made it in as a playable character while Lyn rots away as an AT. He has almost no fanbase to to the fact that FE8 was one of the worse FE's (gameplay wise). I can see him as an AT only pretty much.

Mikaya deserves to be in Brawl before he ever gets considered as a playable character.

Keep in mind, Takamaru got three responses. If Sakurai responded to it more than once, that means he has considered the idea beyond a single glance. If he responded to Takamaru once, and felt he doesn't deserve a spot in Brawl for being Japan-exclusive, he wouldn't respond again. That and Nintendo can translate and code Mystery of Murasame Castle in a day. No joke. The game is all action and very little dialogue.

Takamaru's chances are higher than any Fire Emblem character on the poll, though if memory serves me correct there are more Fire Emblem characters on the poll than any other franchise so it kind of balances things out.

Edit - OTHER than Ike, who is already confirmed. Should have said "in terms of characters who haven't appeared on the DOJO!! yet".

He can, but Ephraim is a spear-based Lord. Black Knight's primary weapon is the Alondite.
If Black Knight used a spear primarily in Brawl, I think you and me both would be disappointed.

I agree with xianfeng though. No one should get in before Macaiah except maybe Marth. Though personally even then I rather have Macaiah.

Switching between Alondite and Wishblade would be pretty awesome. (Wishblade is an SS ranked lance.)
