Sounds perfect to me, I'll just have to talk to them about it. They'll know the person who's hosting the tournament and then I'm getting a ride without them needing to take me. Love it, just need to talk to them about it some time soon. I'll get back to you about it.

kel is coming, and overswarm is likely with respect to his trip to Ireland, they are both Gunpunch right?

And falco when I come to get you I would probably introduce myself to your parents so they'd feel better about the whole thing in general, it would probably do wonders to knows its not some old dudes house and whatnot.

Any one else need info on housing, specifics, or need help coordinating transportation? IM me at WGWOLVERINE and I'd be glad to be as accompdating as possible.

And as this is looking bigger, are there any attendees capable of bringing additional setups? I'll come up with some kind of incentive.

The chances of me coming now have slimmed down ALOT from my recent loss of $320 at the Casino last Friday. If I don't make it, I'm using Casino Johns on this one. However, If I can make it, I can bring a set-up.

Good luck on recovering from your casino losses, hope you can make it.

I'm in the works of a scheme that could potentially open up free housing here for anyone interested the day before as well, for like a smashfest type deal so people coming from out of town don't have to feel like they've wasted a trip for a few tournament matches.

I'll repost with specifics if this plan comes to fruition.

Any reason this is starting so late? If it can start earlier, it'd be easier for traveling smashers to attend. Most Circuit events started at 11am for reference.

Also, any logic behind banning Yoshi Story Melee? :(

I think an 11 o'clock start time is legit, and it's not supposed to be banned, more typo than anything.

And as far as housing goes for now, I'm going to be doing this at my house since the church won't have us over night, and with people traveling, I'll open up my house the night prior to the tournament for a general smashfest.

I have room for like 4 or 5 people to crash on couches, blow up mattresses, and such, but what I'm going to put out there is that anyone that wants to, can camp out back. We'll have tents and such so that anyone looking to avoid the cost of a hotel room as well as the traffic congestion in Mayfield can have a place to spend the night. And of course if that is a little to downhome for you guys, I'm still here to help find hotels and other accommodations.

And like I said earlier, since its at my house, its going to be more chill than if at the church, so there will still be access to free BBQ, pool, end of tourney bonfire, but there will be strict rules for disrupting the progression of the tournament.

Feel free to PM/IM me with any concerns.

Oooo.... tents! Sounds like a little camp-out! Will we be singing songs around the campfire, ghost stories, and whatnot?

Oh, awesome! I feel like people ban that stage just because it was banned in Melee, so I assumed that was the case here. Glad to hear it isn't :)

As for time, I think it's reasonable to allow people to show up at 10am and have signups start at 10:30, and then get the tourney started by 11:15 or so. Starting at 12:30 means that people will start arriving at 12:30-1, and the tourney won't even start until 2 at the earlier. Just my experience, haha.

Just out of curiosity, where is all this free food coming from?

It's not even about you though, I'm sure if it was just you they'd be okay with it. But, it's the fact that I'm going to be with other people besides you that they don't know. I just talked my mom about it and just as I had thought, she's too stubborn about it because 1) it's Chesterland (she says it's an hour away... is it really, Wolfy? =\) and 2) the people I'm going to be with she doesn't know and thinks that "something" will happen to me definitely. When I've told her a thousand times over that "no nothing will not!"

If I tried explaining the very bit of what Smashboards is she'd be lost at the word "forum" and lo and behold when I did try to explain it I mentioned the word forum as I asked her if she knew what that was and she said "A house?"...

I've honestly got no idea how the heck I'm ever going to go to a Smash tournament. It's racking my brains, and I'd hate to be defiant and just tell you to pick me up anyway and then call them to let them know I'm fine and where I am... (because they'd be gone in the morning, my whole family would be actually on that day except myself though, that could change if I do go to the tournament because one of them would obviously have to meet you). The consequences would be quite... large I'd imagine.

I cook in a restaurant and where people typically pay full price at the deli or grocery store, I can just order meat and such at phenomenally low prices through the restaurant. Also since I opted to actually hold this at my house as opposed to paying for using the church, I'm avoiding the issue of them wanting a flat security deposit, as well as a fee, and an increased rate if people spend the night. While I was willing to spend the money, I think everyone is best served, and the overall experience would be much better if I turned that money into BBQ.

Jesus should have hit that miracle. Money into BBQ. Wow. Genius.

Falco400: The solution is to get a car.

I know I wouldn't allow my child to go to stay the night at the house of a stranger he met on the internet so he could play a video game if I didn't know what it was all about.

The other solution is to get friends that play, and go as a group. Saftey in numbers.

My doubles partner and I live in Ohio and are interested in attending. We'll be able to bring at least one Wii w/ brawl.

Overswarm is right, on all accounts.

Don't sneak out either. That's what I did for like my first 4 or 5 tournaments that were not like right near me. Crossing parents isn't worth it. I hope you'll come to a smashfest sometime though, I'm gonig to have them pretty frequently over the summer ^_^

Well, getting a car is out (don't have the money much less a license) and my one friend who would be interested has SATs that morning.

Yeah, I wasn't going to. As for a smashfest, it depends, I'm sure my friend will be able to go and then I'd be able to go, but, that's thinking about it if he didn't have to work or something. And if I can't go, why not just ... add me on Wi-Fi? I know it's not going to be as accurate as an offline match but, hey, we live pretty close so the connection can't be all too bad for some friendlies, amirite? :p

I'll just say I am attending ATM, and I will be bringing a full setup, but it may change if I can't get anyone else to come from around here.

I may come to this, I won't be able to stay all day. Perhaps I can stay for doubles. So quivo, if you do decide to come up to this, let me know.

This might be a bit too far for me to attend. We'll see if things change, but I'm not sure I want to leave my baby for an overnight trip just yet :)

I'm so excited for this!

The only reasons I can think AGAINST having this be the circuit is:
1) It may be too soon of notice
2) It may be too far for an opening event
3) you can't house all of the East-Midwest. So some people would need outside housing
4) I really like dastdrnn's venue and his second tourney is, sadly, the same day. If Dastdarn (I spell it differently every time) is willing to hold a tourney again, at a later date, that would be awesome.

I would like for this to be the opener. So, if you're up for it then let's do it! PM me or IM me on AIM to discuss the circuit!

If anyone lives nearby and would be willing to house people coming out of state, please post in this thread. It would be useful if this became a circuit event and a lot of people started coming, and would probably help all involved.

I can't move my date. I've got folks driving 12 hours to come out for this, and they already asked off work, so this is the only day that works for us.

I was shocked to find that this tournament was only 3 hours from my place in NY.

I'll hopefully be there.

I talked to my supervisor at work, they don't foresee us being busy that day so I won't be needed. If I don't make it now its probably because I was hospitalized <.<

Dang I have no sense of where things are in Ohio. I thought Cleveland was a lot farther West. If I can get a car full, there's a possibility. It would help if a Melee side tourney was guaranteed. If I end up going, Big C....melee$moneymatch. Overall this is going to be a tough one for me to make, but we'll see.

Fear, don't you still have my sensor bar from Big C's tournament since SDM was a **** and stole mine?
