I'm veeeery interested in the Inklings. It feels like a lot of the top players who got to play with them at E3 (such as ZeRo and Mang0) are a bit too beholden to conventions to have properly dug into them. There's some pretty good footage of Abadango playing them at Rage 2018 though.



I think Hungrybox brought up that laying down Ink tracks on the stage actually gives Inkling better mobility, and according to him, that gives them dash dance options on Melee levels. We haven't seen much of it but if it's true they seem to be mobility monsters (pretty sure VoiD also pointed out that their mobility is pretty OD) and it kinda sounds like any time not spent pushing advantage should be spent inking the stage to get a neutral advantage, kinda like how Cloud should always be charging limit if he's not doing anything. Splat Bombs also seem like a pretty good edgeguarding option, and Roller can ground people even when you use it midair. I wonder whether it's viable as a cross-up option.

Up Smash and Down Smash seem to be their best kill options. I guess one thing that kinda sucks is if Splattershot doesn't have decent startup/recovery then they're a bit exposed while using it since they can't run around while shooting, and that seems to be the quickest way to cover the opponent in ink.

It's pretty well established at this point that one-month results from Phases (and May is the start of Phase 8) are usually pretty off-kilter and inaccurate due to the lack of adequate data, so as usual, I wouldn't take much of this or the movements that seriously. As established in my State of Smash 4 report, though, Wario is definitely trending upwards while Villager continues to suffer a fairly harsh decline from his former peaks.

Yeah, Espeon is probably a safe #3. After he moved, I lost track of him, but it looks like he is still pretty good.

Side note: I’m not sure if Link will retain some degree of grab combos, but if he does, I’d imagine that T-style Link will end up pretty strong. No tether grab is potentially amazing, but only as good as what he can get off of it.
The main difference that I see between T and the other Links, beside item usage, is that he just takes advantage of fear. T bearing down on you with over 100% worth of rage makes most top players not named Dabuz sweat pretty hard.

I will not call it a huge nerf, but I see your point. Remote Bombs to have a small hitbox when thrown, which I hear can combo into the explosion. However, characters who can easily take it away, like Villager, can prevent Link from taking out another one. However, it is possible Link may have a more reliable bomb recovery by z-dropping a bomb after pulling it out, detonating it, and recovering. Also, the blast radius may be larger than Young and Toon Link's own. I would say the bombs come with pros and cons, and if there was anything that should be buffed about them, it should be detonating bombs held by opponents or making Link pull them out faster (not sure about multiple bombs being out).

Multiple bombs in the field would give Link neutral similar to that of Morrigan of UMvC3: The entire field would belong to him and win almost every chance at neutral so I don't think it would be a good idea to give him 2 bombs.

I do agree that Link having the ability to detonate them while the opponent is holding the bomb would be a good buff for him because currently, it literally takes away his Down B.

On that same note, to the best of my knowledge, projected highest placing of solo mains for each Hyrule character (rip Ganon):

Not a single Ganondorf main is projected to make it out of pools. Additionally, the most likely character I expect could get a boost via secondary use is Zelda, with either Rizeasu (projected 33rd) or, less likely, Nairo (projected 2nd). Sheik may also see some secondary use, but will likely not make much impact on the highest placing.

Here is the seeding for 2GG: Hyrule Saga. If you think some seedings are off, you are not alone. With some seedings, we may get interesting matches. Sigma :4tlink:, for example, is projected to beat Darkshad :4ryu: to make top 32 losers. The brackets relating to this may change, and when it does, I will check it. Also, as I said earlier, Rizeasu seemed to say that he will not be going, so do not pay too much attention to him here.

Not a single Ganondorf main is projected to make it out of pools. Wow. The tournament seedings are not optimistic on Ganondorf at all. In comparison, zaki is shown to have 64 seeding in this tournament.

Needless to say, this tournament may either surprise a lot of people, or just fall into their hands as expected.

The second and last A+ tier tourney of the PGR v5 season will be CEO 2018! EVO 2018 will now mean nothing, which hurts for what will be Choco's second appearance and shky's first appearance in the US.

Not sure about that. Yes, PGRv5 ends immediately after CEO, but it's entirely possible (especially since Ultimate doesn't come until December) that there will be a PGRv6, which would include EVO.

That is possible. The PG Stats team noted that they would have a special announcement after the end of the PGR v5 season, and I wonder what it is.

Looking at Hyrule Saga, I wonder what upsets will happen. We could get Lima :4bayonetta2: vs. Sinnyboo242 :4sheik:. Zaki :4dedede: is projected to face MkLeo :4marth::4cloud2::4bayonetta2: in winners finals of his bracket.

Watching Raito win Triforce Friday without dropping a single set was a work of art to watch. He pushed Duck hunt to his limits. Really made Duck Hunt look amazing. At the end of the day, Duck Hunt looked like he had, well, virtually everything. Combos, combo breaker, can protecting him during recovery...what didn't he have? Raw kill power. Mewtwo was living till like, 160 on some stocks. Duck Hunt's kill power almost cost him some crucial games.

But yeah. Raito's performance really solidified Duck hunt as a top of the middle tier character, at worst.

Best GFS in a while.

It is worth talking about Cloud's... lack of presence at the last two (Cloud-legal) large doubles events. As someone who was on-board the doubles Cloud ban, this is somewhere between surprising and embarrassing.

This is statistically similar to having back-to-back Brawl events with no MKs in top 8. Does anyone have any insights into this?
