WoW can be played successfully in moderation. The game changed a lot over the course of it's 5 year lifespan. But being a top player in any game requires significant investment of time.

its true ether its just that being the top player now isn't the same feeling as it used to be

i mean jeez i spent my whole early teenage years on WoW but i'm glad i did

i learned the spirit of competition in gaming
my typing skill has rose to close to 70 wpm (now 90 with computer classes)
my computer lingo has improved (LFM HVH need tank + dps then g2g)
and i've had many accomplishments within the pvp system

WoW was the best game i've ever played i dont think i'll ever experience a game quite like it

now its just watered down and repetitive (for me at leastXD)

the way they made WoW now you can play with little time invested and get what you pay a month's worth out of it

back in the day

you needed to play all hours of the day just to get maybe a piece of gear at the end of the day.

it is a very time investing game but not so much anymore the raiding is a joke imo i'm already fully geared first couple of weeks of WoTLK =/
