Platform cancelling is indeed a momentum cancel that doesn't remove all knockback but a significant amount (like, oh snake survives a fresh ZSS' side b at 220% type of thing)

It's generally (i.e. pretty much always) luck based though.

I know it at least exists in one set on youtube of mine (good luck finding it though) of me against Tibs on yoshi's island. Got hit by a fresh fair at around 160% and didn't leave the boundaries of the stage itself.

The people that are good or really care about getting good just don't really post on here that much compared to Pierce/Junk/EL/NEO back in the day.

So quality of discussion has been severely worsened overall, resulting in less incentive for people to post, which means that meaningless and bad posts pile up more and more, causing less incentive to post because it makes me (us) want to smash our heads into walls, and so forth.

What I think Brawl Marth proved beyond a shadow of a doubt is that no amount of effort and dedication can help a character surpass their actual limitations.

Seriously if commitment and dedication were what got you tier positions Marth would have been #1 and never dropped. xD

There's no doubt that that is true. Programming set what the character could and couldn't do long before the game came out.

you did so well in the beggining. you kinda started messing around too much in the air and you went for a grab when you could have gotten an easy DS out of shield KO.

Also saw alot of overextension in your traps, namely your juggle traps.
