I have been basically completely priced out of all of my hobbies, and the ones that don't involve spending money, I have no drive to do them due to school + ADHD.
Gotta say, not feeling great.

Like, your point on the vinyl boom is totally valid, but something that people don't seem to realise is that basically anyone can sell a record player, whereas in the videogame space, you're bound in perpetuity to a particular publisher's architecture; so in theory, something like Limited Run couldn't exist 10 years from now simply on the basis that consoles don't have disc slots anymore. (There'd totally be a space for this kind of thing - maybe USB-based "cartridges" could be a possibility for PC, but that runs into technical issues and would never become mainstream.)
Coupled with the fact that video games just can't monetize themselves in similar ways to movies or music, and it's kind of telling that physical game stores are exclusively selling used phones, Minecraft socks and Bill Cosby funkos.
Idk, it's interesting to see how companies like Limited Run (even as badly as they do it) have tried to capture the same "art" vibe you see in other media forms. I guess the closest thing that comes to my mind of actually being like that is something like the Evercade, and again, it's a smallish company producing the thing with a limited lineup.
Idk where I'm going with this, just some interesting points. I think I'm onto something with that USB cartridge idea though
