Quite frankly, I'm forcing it. The Olimar boards are keeping to a STRICT schedule; two discussions per week, new discussions added every Monday night/Tuesday morning.
(I chose that time because I have class on Tuesday and I can never sleep the night before)
- Harder match-ups are paired with easier match-ups to prevent overloading.
For example, Week one was Falco (generally thought of as one of our hardest) and Pikachu (One of our easiest, but still a character you might expect to see in-tournament)
- If nobody wants to contribute, I search for information myself and post it to try to inspire discussion.
I search the opposing character's board, posts from Olimars that play the match-up (like RichBrown's posts on Falco), etc.
- If no/little discussion is created, that match-up is marked as "unfinished" at the end of the week.
A rediscussion will be made later OR the match-up will be discussed in a Skype chat session at some point.
The threads will be left open in case someone comes in late and wants to contribute or something.
- Invite other boards.
Our Mario discussion wouldn't have gone ANYWHERE, but the Mario players came in droves to talk about it. :D
- Don't care, don't care. Just keep firing away!
You're just trying to get as much information as you can. If someone has a lot of experience with a match-up, they're usually eager to discuss it. That's why you need to keep cycling through characters EVERY WEEK to get around to the ones certain people will want to REALLY talk about.
And don't worry about people whining about your style. You aren't going to please everyone, so you should at LEAST try to get as much out of it as you can.
The Olimar boards aren't active at all and I'm already learning new things. ^_^
I'm a bit confused about what they mean when they say that you're "justifying the unjustifiable". Does that mean like... the way you're leading discussion?
It doesn't really look like you're doing anything wrong in that area.
EDIT: And sorry for the rant. I have a habit of posting walls of text when trying to help people. ^^;
