If pretty much everyone uses R, then why is it called L-canceling?

I was just curious as to how many people actually press the L button when L-canceling. Almost everybody I know uses the R button, including me. Just post whichever button you use, so we can see what most people use. thx.

crule waveshining is where you shine, wavedash behind of your opponent, shine, wavedash infront of your opponent, shine, wavedash behind your opponent and so on. It is an infinant if done properly. I just cant seem to get behind the opponent to shine because he gets knocked back too far.
