Hey Mr smash researcher. No no don't go away just yet, I'm just kidding around man. Jeez.
Anyway, could I ask a favour? Do I even need to ask?
I need your help figuring something 'meta-game-changing' out. In other words I need your frame hacks and possibly your researching contacts cause they can't see that I should be running that joint and I'm therefore not in there.
I was going through a thread on AiB and someone had posted a Japanese vid of some crazy shiz and no one knew how they were doing it or what the hell was going on. Some people had made pretty unintelligent guesses, but that's about all. I couldn't resist.
I'll copy paste my reply with the quoted vid, and you'll soon get the picture. It could be big.

Feel free to figure this out anyone.

Ok, I know exactly how it works, I just don't know how they do it so consistently. There must be some buffering trick to it.
Anyway, first you need to be on a platform in order for it to work, what's happening is they are dashing, shielding (you can shield out of a dash much faster than you can use options like tilting out of a Dash), then dropping through the platform OoS (it's pretty hard, you need to sort of hold shield and tilt down at a medium pace to avoid a spot dodge or just moving the shield down), then they are instantly canceling going through the platform with any action (also very possible, you just need to be very fast). It's quite ingenius really. I've tested everything in that sequence and it all works. The hard part is getting that instant OoS platform drop through. I honestly have no idea how they do it so fast. So technically, I've found the way that it's done, I just can't repeat it nearly as quickly. This is why I think there must be a buffering trick to it. I can look at the video now and explain everything that happens by using this theory.
If you don't believe me or you still think it's done some other way, just look at what they are doing in the video. If you look at Sonic, Mario and Samus, they all do things from a shield cancel (Samus' charging shield canceled, Mario's charging shield canceled, Sonic's Spin dash thingy shield canceled) Take for example the Sonic, in a few examples he spin dashes into the ground and then instantly falls through the platform. This is undeniable proof that the tech behind all this is somehow buffering an instant OoS platform drop through.
I'd go further to discover how they are doing it so consistently and so fast, but I need to study. If you guys haven't figure out that last part by the time I'm finished with exams, I'll do it at some point.
Just thought I'd let you guys know is all.

And that's the end of the quote.
So what do you think? Can you help me figure out how they do it so quickly? The real problem I'm finding is trying to think of how to instantly drop through OoS (so fast that you can't even see the shield), cause when you think about it, any attempt to do it faster just results in a spotdodge. That's why I'm convinced there's some kind of buffering going on and I figured you'd find it easier if you could look at things frame by frame. Also, I should be studying...
Let me know what your thinking.
