Let me rephrase: are you buying or hacking?

Because some games are decent but not worth paying for imo.

I am willing to get hacked games for my DS, but my wii isn't set up for it. So I'd be buying in all likelihood.

Oh. In that case.... yeaaahhh, besides RFF and Okami (if you haven't played the PS2 version), there aren't really any RPGs for the Wii that I'd actually buy.

Maybe Muramasa. That was pretty good if you can find a cheap copy.

I guess you could consider Okami and RPG. Yeah... I mean it definitely is. And I've played it I own it and it's one of my favourite games of all time.

And Omnigamer was my roommate last year and when I was bored or studying, I'd watch him play Murmasa, so I've already SEEN most of that game even if I haven't played it. :/

Why can't The Last Story come to america? :(

Hmm. It's not an RPG, but I've heard that No More Heroes is really good. Wish I had my nunchuk so I could play it.

Nintendo just announced Pandora's Tower.....which looks like either a JRPG or possibly a Zelda spinoff involving the Sheikah.

Other than that you could pray that Xenoblade, Dragon Quest X, The Last Story and some others get localized soon.

But since you have a DS you already have access to like 45665433 RPGs so get on that.

I am going to have a TONNE of free time next quarter..... are there ANY good RPGs for the wii to soak up my hours of free time?
The original Paper Mario and other classic RPGs from virtual console. Monster Hunter Tri is supposedly great too (haven't played it myself). Otherwise, there are literally zero good RPGs on wii.

The sequel is okay I guess, just don't expect to get much playtime out of it. I cleared the game in just couple of evenings, and I'm the guy who searches every nook and cranny of every game area twice and completes every sideguest before moving on with the main story.

I'm personally glad I didn't pay the full price for the game, but if you liked the first game you'll propably like the sequel too.

Nothing kills me more than the fact that out of all those Dragon Quest X is the only game I'm confident will get released in the west. Seriously, why can't any interesting RPGs on Nintendo's home console come to the west? There's gotta be other people like me who've been waiting for a truly good JRPG to come out for the wii ever since its launch.

Owned and played both paper mario games. (I don't include the wii version . . . I played it to completion and dropped it like a bad habit)
I personally consider Paper Mario one of the triumphs of the N64, and paper mario: TTYD was even better.... somehow (except that I liked how the old paper mario had more classic roots. i.e. no game-specific enemies/allies like ms. flurry (who I hated) or vivian. or X-nauts.) So, anyway, yeah, I've already played that.

That's sad about NMH2, I mean I DO kind of need a time sink, and a short game won't do it for me.

I lament the non-localization of these JRPGS :( they won't get here by march even if they are localized.

As for the DS.... I've already played some of the ones I'm more interested in, and they just don't seem as . . . epic on a DS screen :(

We are supposed to be getting Tales of Graces for the Wii. Which is a surprise. But nothing about it for Europe yet.

If you're truly looking for a time sink, get Disgaea for DS. It has strong focus on humor, so the epicness-reducing factor of DS won't matter as much. It's also a game you can literally play for the rest of your life and still not completely finish.

There's also one more option: go back to PS2. That console still has the best game library when it comes to JRPGs.

I've only heard about the Tales of Graces F (perfected PS3 version of the original game) coming stateside, not the Wii version. Not that it really matters to me either way, if the previous history of the Tales games is anything to go by neither will ever come to Europe.

I found new copies of Muramasa for like, $15. Just gotta look around.

Ghost trick does look really interesting. I've been watching loads of vids. Are there multiple outcomes and twists of fate and stuff?
While the final outcome is the same once you get the puzzles right, doing different things in attempts to save people's lives produces varied results.

It's fun to just mess around.

sadly, I don't have a ps2. one of my friends has a ps3.... but I don't want to have to walk to his apartment everytime I want to play :/

can you bypass the regional restrictions on a hacked wii like you can with DVD downloads? I mean at least that way you could play it :(

Like I said, looked like a super fun game, but I already SAW most of it played. Kinda diminishes my willingness to buy it. But if I can find it super cheap I'll consider

Side Note:

Super Mario RPG is available on the virtual consol now and I never owned a super so I've never played it. Is it a worthy investment? Most non-biased sources I have asked have said that the paper mario franchise is better, but I know SMRPG has a huge following.

I think SMRPG is better. The humor. battle system, and story made the game more fun for me. Not that Paper Mario didn't have these things of course. Paper Mario is still loads of fun.

SMRPG is notoriously easy though, but it's still a great game. Especially for like, $8 on the Virtual Console.

Mario and Lugi: Bowser's Inside Story is also very good. I personally think it's on par with SMRPG.

More humor than PM:TTYD?

I swear the "Of Glitz and Glory" and the "3 Days of Excess" chapters had me chuckling quite a bit.

And, as bad as Super Paper Mario was, it was actually pretty fun in its constant breaking of the fourth wall.

I just wish that a Zelda RPG would come out some day . . . I know some people call Zelda an RPG game anyway because you "level up" with new items and heart peices, but it's not really an RPG , you know, because there's no random element and there is no traditional "leveling up."

Anyway you know what I mean, a traditional, turn based RPG where you might have Zelda in your party as a caster, for example.

I think a Zelda game in which Zelda joins you for more than just the final battle (and as a playable character) in itself would be pretty cool. And I mean play as real Zelda, not that suit of armor crap from Spirit Tracks.

SMRPG is worth every penny. It's great. Definitely way too easy, but it is very funny and charming... and... and just so good!

If it's too easy you can try a no-equipment run or something, I was thinking of trying that next time I played through it. I just did my perfect run a few years ago (Every item, hidden box, max levels etc.)

SMRPG is an excellent game and totally worth getting, although I still personally like Paper Mario 1&2 better.

It's possible but requires modding, which I'm honestly too lazy to do. However, Ive been meaning to get PS3 at some point anyway, which luckily is region-free too. So if/when ToGF gets released in the US but not in EU I'll propably just get a console I've been meaning to get for a long time now and then import.

It'd still be nice to see the game get a true EU release like Tales of Symphonia 1&2 got, though.

I dunno about switching from NTSC > PAL, but pretty much any usb loader can force NTSC settings. I thiiiink GX can do the opposite too, but I'm not 100% sure.

I landed a few lightning kicks and won a few with Zelda! Linkz makes it look easy. I need to punish more.
Do Zelda mains learn Sheik too, or stick with Zelda for the match?

--------------
The LoZelda fighting is a big part of what made the 3D series. Since Ocarina of Time, I loved the relatively realistic block/counter/dodge swordplay. The series could have deeper stories with more choices and endings but I say the game style must stay true, which would be hard in an RPG.

I've tried to learn shiek but any MU I'd go sheik for as Zelda sheik gets ***** just as badly. So I just play all MU's with Big Z.

It'd still be nice to see the game get a true EU release like Tales of Symphonia 1&2 got, though.
Nintendo advertized the hell out of Tales of Symphonia in Nintendo Power. It spanned issues I'm pretty sure. That doesn't explain why it was released in europe on the PS2 as well, unless maybe namco was pushing for all the advertising.

I think Symphonia may have been an attempt to mainstream the game the way Final Fantasy is: so well known. They tried the same thing with Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken, and that seems to have worked a lot better. Then again, it might have worked really well for tales if THEY got a character or two in Super Smash Bros. lol.

Too bad too . . . The DS has enough RPG titles, the Wii is very lacking.

I picked up Sheik because she's attached to Zelda. I'll usually go Zelda but, if I'm fighting space animals, DDD, etc., I'll use Sheik.

Also nice to have when you get CP'd.

Also nice to turn Sheik in the middle of the game against Fox and proceed to ftilt hehe.

first off, I must have your avatar picture because it looks awesome.

Anyway, we took a lot if negative hype going into tier list v4 and took a mega fall. Then dropped another spot in v5. We are terribly underrepresented and we really don't have anything special as far as advanced techniques and such. The biggest minus is how bad Zelda gets camped. We can get camped in almost any MU. It's really a shame honestly.

I will never lose hope though.
My avatar is from a print of zelda (done by some random artist) that I bought at Anime Expo last year haha. I imagine that you probably can't find the image anywhere else

Yeah though, zelda's a pretty bad character and although she isn't good enough to be mid tier I still wouldn't place her as low as she is. Then again, I don't really know what I'm talking about since I haven't been following brawl and i'm kinda biased... ;)

Any zeldas going to genesis 2 though? I wanna see a good brawl zelda in action hehe

Lol, everyone says I make it look easy. XD
Believe it or not, I'm actually going through an anti-lightning kick phase. I'm having a very hard time landing fairs and bairs right now. I used to be able to land them left and right, but now it's much harder. =/

Sheik? That's more so a personal choice I'd say. I can use Sheik, but not nearly as well as Zelda. For anything official, I'd never use Sheik, regardless of the MU. In friendlies though, I switch between the two of them often, as I enjoy being able to switch up characters mid-match. That's just me though.

Are AiB Zeldas on good terms with SWF Zeldas?

TBH, I'm just a Zelda scrub who barely seconds her.

I was sorta wondering where these Zelda's were coming from lol. I thought it was weird that these experienced Zelda's who I didn't recall conversing with here were just showing up!

@Kat: I can't recall what door I chose in the beginning... I am in the middle of the second RED door part though and I chose to go through door 7. What characters do you like so far? I'm digging Lotus for sure, something about her is just very intriguing. Reminds a little bit of how I would act in that situation but I also feel like she is hiding something...
