It also becomes weaker as you use it so it's kind of a one time thing. I think it refreshes per each stock tho but I'm not positive on that.
It doesn't get "weaker." By "weaker", it probably meant that the active frames are shortened drastically after one use. It doesn't refresh per stock. Not sure how long it takes to fully refresh but it doesn't take long at all

The problem with Header and its customs is that they can be turned against WFT like Gordos. Not sure what the threshold is though and two of them move pretty quickly.

@ Berserker. Berserker. experimenting with avoiding Power Vision's hits playing as Greninja and I can roll out of the hit if I activate the counter with any of Greninja's aerials (18f landing lag for fair as the slowest, 4f before roll invuln, + a few more frames to land), but not dtilt (22f end lag) so I'm guessing opponents have something like 25f to avoid the hit

just throwing that out there

it's a lot faster than I was expecting it to be tbh (it's faster than Substitute ;_;) but it's still a lot slower than most counters

Thanks for the info. I'll take note of this even if customs aren't legal yet in my region.

I think you can avoid power vision with aerials because the landing lag can interrupt the animation. You can roll away or behind power vision once the landing lag finishes.

Have you tried avoiding aerial power vision?

No, because Greninja commits absurdly hard to his aerials and the AI seems intent on only using it grounded anyway

I thought I found a cool new Falco trick with Fast Fire Bird

then I found out @ Ffamran Ffamran already found it awhile ago (Fire Slide)

It's ridiculously hard to get the angle for it but it seems really cool, even if pretty gimmicky. Dtilt and dsmash (among other moves I'm sure) preserve the slide momentum which seems quite useful.

Also Fire Roll feels like the same total duration as a normal sideways FFB to me, but I haven't formally timed.
Well, we're using 3DSes, right? Yeah... With the Gamecube controller having 8 gates and that Fire Slide might use a "half gate", it might be easier to do on with the GCN controller. Here's the thing, we have all sorts of people and who knows? Maybe someone out there can consistently pull of Fire Slides. I mean, people pulled off wavedashing, perfect pivoting, chain grabbing, wobbling, and this which I've linked before like a million times.

Fire Rolling might not be that fast, but think about the mind games Falco can pull. Shaya mentioned that Falco has good (perfect) pivots and his fast fall short hops. Add in his ability to jump high and make it difficult for most people to catch him vertically and by default and with Falco Phase, Falco has a burst movement. Now, let's add in Fast Fire Bird which give him another burst movement which is probably safer than Falco Phantasm and Phase, the ability to shorten his burst movement like that by Fire Rolling, and then the ability to perfectly land out of it by Fire Sliding. It's not as insane as Quick Attack and Heavy Skull Bash, Sheik's Bouncing Fish and Vanish, and Diddy's... Diddy.

Anyway, I don't know if I z-axis dodged Pac-Man's Hydrant with Fair or that it clanked and continued. Yeah... I can't tell what's happening. You wanna look at it? I'll upload the replay after this gets posted. And speaking of momentum, I think Up Smash is affected by it; if I dash into someone and Up Smash at later percents, the first hit can knock them out of the entire move, but if I stop or catch them from the top, it's fine. I'm considering reverse Up Smash for dashes now because of this.

Edit: Falco's recovery isn't that bad since wall jump and Fast Fire Bird is pretty close to Fire Bird and I think his "somersault" does add some distance.

Edit 2: Edit Harder: I didn't find out about perfectly landing Fire Bird, I think @Plain Yogurt did, but I don't know if he tried it with Fast Fire Bird.

I can kinda understand why Substitute is slow to attack, since the game needs to give you enough time to choose a direction to attack from.

It feels like it, I was meaning to check that today

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about them yet, I like that they linger and I'm sure there's some form of followup possible with the freeze; if not, at least it pops the opponent in the air and gives positional advantage that the default doesn't.

ok then my data is right, happy day. Also I know for a fact the reason they pop people into the air is because both of them are sakurai angle, ice balls just have crazy KB scaling for a projectile that does like 4%

I was hyping Phantom3 before for Zelda, but lately I would indeed correctly read the air dodge after a Dthorw, but either I'm facing the wrong direction with Phantom, or it was too slow and they shielded it before they land. I miss how Phantom1 can pressure linear recoveries to air dodge to a bad position for a Dair, and I usually go for pretty much any other aerial and not Phantom3 after an air dodge read from a Dthrow now, seeing that they seem to work better. Might experiment more with Phantom3, but I feel like I'll drop it for default, even though that isn't much better. :///

Allow me to be the first.

tbh I don't think I'd ever use the default phantom over strike with how quickly the latter charges, how much damage it does, and its hitboxes fixing the blind spot issue, but I guess none of the phantoms are really amazing so it isn't a big deal

but realtalk super speed is so much better than reflect even in MUs with projectiles, don't bother reflecting stuff when you can just ZOOM into their face, Pally loves having her approach

The other day when I was playing with @ FullMoon FullMoon I think he activated Substitute easily like 5 times and I only got hit by it once :'D It's a really sad counter.

Dat Falco tech mmmmm. Will implement that in my game. :^)

And I just like Reflect because of that windbox thingy. I mean, why else would I use Paletuna other than trolling with 30% kills with Lightweight, KOs with high doses of mercury, and using a RED BLOB OF TUNA MEAT to halt a recovery?

All I know of ROB's customs are that the upBs and downBs are upgrades

The other day when I was playing with @ FullMoon FullMoon I think he activated Substitute easily like 5 times and I only got hit by it once :'D It's a really sad counter.
yeah even when it activates I almost never hit with it ;_;

or I even get hit instead because it's one of the few counterattacks with no invincibility frames on the attack because reasons

kills off the top with it are one of the greatest pleasures this game has to offer though :substitute:

I have to say, despite me not liking Greninja at all as a character, Substitute looks pretty cool when it hits.

I don't like Greninja because of how broken he was day 1.
I don't like him because he's a horrendous frog with his tongue for a scarf. I honestly think we didn't need more Pokemon in the roster :'D, but it's also because I don't give two ****s about the newer generations.
