Upke
Smash Journeyman
Yeah, it's definitely punishable, but some characters might struggle more than others. I know Bowser was able to up-B out of shield no matter how far away I hit him, because the ridiculous amount of lag on her kicks.

You don't even need to main the character you're contributing towards, you get pretty muchOf course it's a popularity contest. But people tend to gravitate to the character they feel will net them the most wins. Zelda is a popular character outside of Smash. She is unpopular in Smash because she has a noted reputation for being bad.
Little Mac is legit great, even if his players tend to be awful.
Brawlers had Falcon and Lucario, two great characters as well. Of course gunners had Zamus so make of that what you will.
Also I have yet to see a single Peach in For Glory. It's super weird.
FSmash has relatively little end lag, though sadly it makes up for that with its slow start-up. My current strategy pretty heavily revolves around fast poke (usually either jab or DTilt) into FSmash or FTilt.Zelda's big issue atm is end lag. It is hard for her to do anything vs fast characters because they can attack all they want and Zelda suffers every time she tries to attack back because we constantly get punished due to end lag. This is the main reason I try to stick to doubles with Zelda because she can get away with a lot more in an environment where she is not the center of attention constantly. She is a great finisher and support character which is usually how I like to play.
Overall she feels like a ranged Ganondorf so far in Smash 4. She has devastating attacks both ranged and up close but they suffer a lot of ending lag as a form of balance. This is a pretty bad formula for singles but it can work rather well in doubles. Sakurai said something about characters being balanced for different game modes and you can clearly see Zelda was not balanced to be a singles fighter lol. Don't get me wrong though, I have played her quite a bit in singles and she feels great but fast characters like Sonic and Greninja are so hard for Zelda to do anything against if the player is good.
- All her aerials have a lot of end lag... even Nair which is pretty stupid.
- Nayru's, Din's, Farore's, and Phantom all have noticeable end lag that makes them easily punishable.
- Dash attack has noticeable end lag that is easily punished.
- Smash attacks all have a pretty large amount of end lag but they are smash attacks so that is expected.
- That gives us jab, down tilt, forward tilt, and up tilt... Not very many options for fast attacks. Forward tilt and up tilt still have a little bit of endlag but nothing compared to her other moves.
The slide only happens if the opponent has held up the shield for a while. Pretty much all Bairs I've tried on human/CPU grounded opponents didn't make them budge, since they were sharp enough to "power-shield" (is that still a thing?) in time.
Notice the first sweetspot kick that hits shield; they slide pretty far! I'd say it'd be pretty hard to punish in that situation. Powershield/spotdodge will definitely f' you over though!
It only took 2 sweetspot kicks + Nayru's to break a shield if you think about it. I was pretty surprised, though Nayru's also seems to eat a ton of shield.
Sweet zombie Jesus, I just bust a gut.I'm fairly certain that Zelda, King Dedede, and Sonic will be within the top 7 when all is said and done.
Well, he might be right about Sonic at the very least.Sooo, this was posted in the "Competitive character impressions" thread:
Sweet zombie Jesus, I just bust a gut.
I was pretty much just laughing at Zelda.Well, he might be right about Sonic at the very least.
I'll eat a shoe if Zelda or Dedede are within the top 20 without a patch.
Not exactly understanding this. It looks like all you're saying is that, to put ourselves in a position where FW won't make us move horizontally, we have to jump near Zelda's fullest possible height (which is precisely the travel distance of FW's wind).Great news sisters!
1. (Some of you might have already known) Zelda's most useless AT from Brawl is back! Everybody do the Nayru Slide! (a.k.a. http://youtu.be/MEj3h-82esk?t=32s minus the nostalgic Evanescence song) :D
2. I found a way to cancel FW off the edges of Battlefield's platforms (quite) easily. Since FW doesn't go directly downwards & instead moves you to the direction that you are facing (-_-), you basically use the horizontal movement to do it. (I can't make gifs because I'm a computer pleb). To do it:
- Go to the centre of any platform
- Do a full jump then double jump towards the top
- Immediately after the DJ, do the Up-B directly downwards
You kinda need play around with the timings & everything. The higher you are, the closer you need to be the edge that you cancelling off from (though the distance you need to move is very slight).
Pls make a glorious gif of #2 pls
EDIT: In hindsight, I really should've posted this in the data thread... Soz
When you reappear with FW at the very edge of a platform it's cancelled (something that was carried over from Brawl), like: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2014/15/1397372655-farore-ssb4.gifNot exactly understanding this. You haven't explained how to "cancel."
I would -KILL- for a slow moving Din's Fire fireball projectile like Rose's Soul Spark to be honest.D3 went from being zangeif to Rufus, and Zelda turned into a full fledged rose
See, I wouldn't mind the lag conspiring against Zelda, if the circle pad didn't do the same thing.
Yup, that too. But less often these days. Even rarer, and more annoying yet, is the accidental Din's Fire off stage somehow when you began with both feet on the ground...See, I wouldn't mind the lag conspiring against Zelda, if the circle pad didn't do the same thing.
Me: *somewhere in the air*
Opponent: *starts charging a smash or a laggy projectile*
Me: Mate, you really don't wanna do that when Zelda can just teleport into you for the kill...
*goes for the up-B punish*
...
*re-appears off stage*
Not bottom tier?
Yes Ikr I honestly thought that mega man would be like 2nd worst and zelda in C tier but yeah out of worst 10That Japanese tier list is pretty interesting....Not in a good way. (but hey, Zelda just escaped bottom 10 there)
This is the one where they solely used tourney results, I assume.
I honestly just can't see zelda as low tier again and I think that lucina zelda and jigglypuff should be higher on then tier list because it's hard for me to believe that bowser is that highAs far as I can tell, based on rough translations:
the list was made by a volunteer group, SHI-G, and the numbers to the right of the character thumbnails
https://game8.jp/matome/14157
relate to the A-E scale and not tourney winnings/performance.
Well....it is if you whiff it a lot. Her grab has decent range (even better with the RC pivot) but it is slow and laggy. Her throws also do a decent bit of damage (except dthrow) and uthrow and dthrow have potential followups and kill setups. Is it wrong that I grab too much with Zelda?
I wonder who that noob is who posted that video. Seems like such a waste of time to post, not only a useless 'AT', but something to try and help the Zelda community. I mean, why bother posting anything tbh? We should automatically know what will work and what won't right away.Great news sisters!

As for FW canceling, I'm probably not going to bother with that too much on the 3DS controls. With the Wii U version however, and the Gamecube controller at my disposal, there will be a lot more room for AT's, especially ones involved with Zelda's recovery.
