Alright guys. Hi. I'm Dewey. And I need your help. I knew exactly where to turn, the craziest thread on smash boards... Zelda social.

My smashfest is running a mini for fun bracket right now. Double elimination. I'm gonna give you the tags, and the seedings. You fill in the characters the tags have to use for the entire tournament. 2 characters per tag. I can give you hypeness updates, and challonge links, if you're interested. With your help, you can help make "Dewey's Playhouse III" the best "Dewey's Playhouse" to date.

Thank you so much. God bless. Pika pi.

1. X-Factor
2. NoTag
3. Nick
4. Celestial
5. Hikaru
6. Dewey
7. Pferschaw

And Locke, no input from you, you'll rig it! And we're sad you couldn't be a top seed with us tonight.

WEIRDO.

I played Luigi and Jigglypuff in the first three games because I like Luigi and I like Jigglypuff, and sweetspot SJP/Rest were hilarious moves.

I play Rosalina for the combined reasons that she is a puppet character, has the same floaty feel that Luigi/Jiggs have, is defensively oriented, can edgeguard/perform offstage well, and ain't half bad on the eyes either :200:
Wavedash>SJP is my signature Melee move. I'm trying to make Fox's running pivot JC Usmash my signature move with that character, but the situations to land it aren't exactly frequent. When I do though, it's like sky rockets in flight. (Afternoon delight)

I do have a connection to all the characters I play (Link because LoZ is life, Luigi because Super Mario All Stars/SMB3, Snake because MGS). I wanted to play Rosa because I thought her trailer was awesome with the rosa-luma wombo combos. But luma management was harder than Nana management to me, and the situations where wombo combos would happen were few and far between. Also, Mario Galaxy was an amazing game. But it wasn't meant to be.

Yeah, I'm really confused by this as well.
Yeah, I should have labeled it before I made the post. For Falco's end lag, probably placebos and very poor first impressions which I've ranted and continue to rant about.

Granted, no online test is going to be as effective as the ones administered in person but it's what we got and this is the Zelda social on smashboards so who really cares about true accuracy. Knock yourself out, kiddies.
I'm so late ;_;
Anywho, ENFP.

Oh, okay. My weirdo accusations were premature, my apologies. :196:

Incidentally I didn't actually like Galaxy, and it was more or less the last Mario game I touched (I gave some DS Mario a chance too but found it underwhelming). I think it's because I went in expecting Galaxy to be like 64/Sunshine rather than being so...linear. From what I've seen of Galaxy 2 it looked good to me, so I'm thinking maybe I'd like 1 if I gave it a second chance, now that I know what to expect from it.

Ffam, literally nobody cares about Falco. You've spent over half of your time here complaining about his nerfs.

Just face it.

Falco sucks Diddy's monkey cheeks.

I enjoyed the gravity stuff, but I know what you mean by how linear it was. If they made another 64-like Mario, I'd go crazy. I haven't played Galaxy 2 outside of a few levels that included Yoshi, but the level design is great. Really, the level design for both Galaxy games, I think, is what makes it stand out as a one of the best Mario games.

Also, Rosalinda space goddess. 100:0 MU's duh.

Also, PM.

How can I do to pay with my Paypal? Can you gift subscriptions to someone else? @ Berserker. Berserker. @BJN39 do you guys know?
Nope. Sorry :(
Locke has a PM with Lavani...?

I wonder what they do in there...
I have a PM with both of them but it's for important/actually-not-useless purposes. I guess.

7 straight hours of Smash with Shulk only. I learned that buster art is still underrated, unfortunately (it's amazing). So basically, I got nothing new. Other than maybe n-air > u-tilt > u-air in jump art. Maybe I could have added one more u-air but whatever

Survival guide tips by Berserker.

1) Do not care about the final ratio of the Roosterluma boards
2) Make your post as detailed and long and wall-of-posty as possible
3) Pour your heart into it
4) Emphasize that discussion >>>>> score
5) Make one then ignore the thread for life
6) If wild almostlogandary comes, the ignore option is your best friend
7) Same applies for shadowbowler128

The tags changed a little bit but the seedings are the same.... I will update upon completion, for those who care. Which, probably consists of Locke, and even that's a stretch.

And Lavani, everyone hated their characters, and I laughed. You hit the mark I was looking for!

I'm putting up a sonic Amiibo for the victor. Upon announcement, the participants were at first excited, but when "Sonic Speed!" was announced as the specific amiibo, there were more than a few groans.

Oh there was a topic on picking characters and stuff?

Well for Smash 64... :kirby64: because he's rly good in the game but... :link64: is my actual main because he has a sword and his projectile game is interesting and amazing. Keeping away and using Link's range to help with that very objective was actually fit for my tastes. I personally didn't think he deserved to be bottom tier. He's better than :ness64: and :luigi64:. Maybe :dk64:? Dunno.

For Melee, I use :marthmelee: because I loved watching Ken, PPMD, and M2K's Marths. Their Marths are a thing of beauty. I just like spacing characters or characters that require you to keep away or maximize your range. I also use :sheikmelee: against Marth because Marth dittos can die in a fire. Oh, if I had a TRUE second main. It'd be :linkmelee:. I love how he also feels in Melee. Spin attack was stupidly powerful and his projectiles were still amazing even in a game like Melee, but he has some critical flaws which is why I'd usually stick to :marthmelee: and :sheikmelee:

For Brawl, I used :link2: at first but his recovery was so bad, I got legit pissed. I went for :snake: then found him really fun because I liked his disjointed tilts (lol) and I liked making everything blow up but my interest in Brawl died out. After like 99 years or somthing, I tried Brawl again and found :marth: fun because spacing is fun

Smash 4, right now. Well, that's an obvious story :4shulk::4shulk::4shulk::4shulk:

I was gonna rant about how I broke 1mil score in Gunvolt secret mission 5 and still didn't get an S+ rank, but apparently I did it with the next run. Crazy upper threshold considering S rank started somewhere around 400-600k.

7 straight hours of Smash with Shulk only. I learned that buster art is still underrated, unfortunately (it's amazing). So basically, I got nothing new. Other than maybe n-air > u-tilt > u-air in jump art. Maybe I could have added one more u-air but whatever
Meanwhile in the world of Rosalina, I still haven't had anyone escape grab release>usmash but I am, like, positive the frame data doesn't allow for it to be real (+10 frame advantage, Luma usmash is f10, but it doesn't hit at max height on that frame and I'm pretty sure an airdodge or double jump will get out). I wish I had a Wii U so I could control both characters in training. :(

And Lavani, everyone hated their characters, and I laughed. You hit the mark I was looking for!
Perfect.

Unfortunately I realized a bit too late that I didn't give anyone Meta Knight or Dedede, whoops. Oh well. I don't usually pass on opportunities to try to convert people to the bat. :4metaknight:

Honestly might be even worse than the characters I picked, I'm surprised people are even participating. :198:

Oh, I was actually out for 7 hours. I told this to Locke already but while playing Smash, I was walking around the mall buying stuff. Clothes and food. Some people wondered how the hell I can play a game while not bumping into anyone

I also unconsciously MALLC'd and MADC'd while doing that.

I can only do this with Shulk. I going to get rekt if I do that again with any other character '._.

Monado Art Disconnection?
Monado art dash cancel

Cancelling your dash animation using the activation animation. You can do a sliding f-smash or d-smash with this. Or a reverse sliding f-smash or d-smash. Basically, you can replace dash attack with f-tilt/d-tilt/f-smash/d-smash. Very useful for Shulk especially since his dash attack is garbage. The sliding part also helps in extending the range (although I don't think f-tilt slides)

Guess I have to tell my Smash character selection story...

I used :link64: in 64 since well... I'm a Zelda fan and Link is mah boi yo

For Melee, I started out with :linkmelee: and :younglinkmelee: but after seeing Ken's Marth and the likes of M2K and PPMD's too, I mained :marthmelee: with :linkmelee: as my second. @ Berserker. Berserker. is just salty with :marthmelee: dittos because it always had to be against me :secretkpop:

For PM, I second mained Marth since I loved Melee Marth and imitating M2K's amazing combos and Snake since he was so fun in PM. I had Link as my first main in PM since everything I did with him felt so natural. Especially since I only got PM some time after getting Sm4sh, it was as if everything I tried in Sm4sh worked as a combo in PM.

For Brawl, I wanted to try out :ike: since he looked pretty badass but I eventually went back to :link2: as my first main along with :falco: as my second and viable main HAHA

For Sm4sh, Link is pretty average in comparison to the entire game's selection of characters and not to mention SO MUCH better than Brawl Link. I did better than translate everything I had with :link2: to :4link:. Seeing that Link wasn't held down by the negative imbalances of his character, the overwhelming disparity between him and the more fortunate characters and the engine, I finally felt like....

Oh, we going in-depth with character stories now?

64
I was just a young kid at this point so there wasn't a whole lot of thought put into this. :luigi64: was my favorite video game character at the time and SJP was hilarious. I liked :yoshi64: too but not as much. :jigglypuff64: was instantly hilarious when I found out what Rest did, and she actually introduced me to Pokemon. :ness64: was similarly amusing when I discovered the hilarity of PKT2, but I didn't like him as much due to no attachment to the character. :jigglypuff64::luigi64: would be my technical mains.

Melee
Stuck with :luigimelee::jigglypuffmelee:, particularly enjoying the former having an amazing wavedash. Also messed with :icsmelee: because they were cute, used ice, and let you control two characters at once (and I liked that certain palettes let you play as Nana and made Popo the CPU-controlled character; it irks me to no end when commentators call the player character Popo when the player is using a Nana palette); :mewtwomelee: because IT'S ****ING MEWTWO; :zeldamelee: because Zelda + first actual magic character; :ganondorfmelee: because of how hard he hit. Messed with :marthmelee: off and on and actually got into FE because of him, but having to aim for tippers all the time took too much focus and made him unfun for me.

Brawl
I barely played this game, so I don't remember much of it and didn't get too serious with any characters. :luigi2:felt less fun compared to Melee with his silly wavedash gone, :jigglypuffmelee: unfortunately became :jigglypuff:and I noticed myself doing significantly worse with her, but still played both characters. Picked up :dedede: instantly because he's my favorite Kirby character and was also up there with Luigi on my list of favorite video game characters at the time, but I don't remember how I felt about him. Fiddled around with :zelda::ness2: again since my old mains felt less interesting, and I know I was only playing those two characters for a month or two - found both fun, but eventually dropped both. Tried :lucario: to fill the void Mewtwo leaving left in my heart, actually enjoyed him quite a bit despite having no attachment to the character. :popo: were still fun/dumb. Wanted to like :metaknight:but his attacks didn't feel meaty enough for me to enjoy playing him (kinda the same gripe I have with Sm4sh Sheik). :pit: was there but didn't really click, but he got me to play the original Kid Icarus and I developed some attachment to the character. And I REALLY wanted to main :ivysaur: but not in a character style like Pokemon Trainer, that was the biggest letdown of Brawl for me (aside from random tripping).

I guess the tl;dr here is that I probably favored :dedede::lucario: with a side of :popo:, took :zelda::ness2: seriously for awhile, and still had :luigi2::jigglypuff: in my back pocket.

Sm4sh
Lord I've typed this story here enough times already. :rosalina: is the character I like most and the one I'm not hopeless with, :4greninja::4metaknight::4luigi: are also cool, :4lucario::4megaman::4pacman::4yoshi::4mewtwo: are "cool in theory but I can't play this character" tier, :4dedede::4jigglypuff: are "it's time to let go" tier.

@ Lavani Lavani do my mains make me a weirdo? Pretty sure they do.

I'm not really sure what draws me to characters. It's probably a combination of range/disjoints and a read-based playstyle. Power and recovery are a plus but not necessarily needed. I'm also not a huge fan of characters with fast ground speed because I always muck up spacing. It can also just be a fascination with the character (that's what brought me to Game & Watch and why I want to stick with Villager).

As and example, :ganondorf: eventually became myain in Brawl even though I just started using him to abuse his DAir, haha. I probably find :4dedede: fun because he can make hard reads and he has some great disjonts.

I probably won't test out Splatoon for time reasons, even though I'm excited for the game.

Holy crap I just got bodied by a Japanese Luigi

I find some bad characters fun. :mario2: was fun. :ganondorf: was the worst in Brawl but he was still one of the funnest characters imo. I don't think :link64: is a bad character so I'm not considering him. :4miisword: or BKF is fun because his atrociousness is actually charming

Oh and I missed out on the whole relationship and sexuality thing (sort of). I already had my take on it (by that I meant, I didn't feel like sharing anything). I'm straight, I guess that's the only thing I can add but yeah. A lot of surprising stuff today. I can respect the preferences and all that.

Fun fact: Even if I explicitly enjoy saving/sharing pictures hot/kawaii waifus, @ McKnightlíght McKnightlíght thought I was a female. Lol. I remember calling SuSa (someone here remember him?) a female because of his name and avatar. LOL
