XD Cool, more smash. :p
Yep!
Sorry that I haven't updated my post with things yet. If anything the first thing I'll post is returning stages, potential new stages, and a list of series that it'll feature in characters rather than the characters themselves. Revealling all of the characters now A) May disappoint those if some characters are cut later and B) Ruins the fun of revealing as it's being made.

Kay, still sounds very cool to have another community member that codes a smash game. :3

My game is called Super Smash Bros. Mash.

Well, to start off, each character would gain three new special moves: a diagonal special, an attack special, and an Ultimate Attack.
  • Diagonal specials are performed by pressing any diagonal direction and B. They can either be projectiles or recovery moves.
  • Attack specials are performed by pressing A or B simultaneously.
  • Ultimate Attacks are like Final Smashes, but performed by breaking an Ultimate Card, which is much harder to catch than a Smash Ball. Ultimate Attacks are always better than Final Smashes.

I would oversee the modeling and moveset-making of Ganondorf, and give specific instructions to make his normal moveset involve either his trident, dual swords, or a single sword, and to make his neutral special a proper Dead Man's Volley projectile.

...then I would resign and hand the director position to someone else knowing that my purpose in Smash has been fulfilled.

Is it odd that I think about this from time to time? Not that I expect to actually be put in the position one day, obviously. But still, after Smash 4, I just can't seem to stop thinking about what my 'Ideal Smash' would consist of... And oh boy, do I have a LOT to get off my chest...
Anyways, here it is all the same:

First off, I kinda feel like Smash has "Lost it's way" when it comes to character additions. I feel that this is mainly due to the fact that Sakurai most likely chose characters on the basis on how much potential they would have for a moveset, opposed to how much the Smash community actually wanted them in... Sure, some choices such as Mega Man and Snake were put in Smash for the benefit of the fans, but then you see characters like Greninja who was chosen to be put into Smash before he was even revealed to the public.
Now, I don't have any issues with this. Hell, I aint one to stand toe-to-toe with Sakurai and talk s**t on his decisions. But either way, I'd do a sort of "Reboot" to Smash as a whole, having it go back to it's roots as the "Ultimate Nintendo Get-Together". There are some aspects of the game i'd remove, and some i'd add in. Some would like those changes, others wouldn't. But to those of why who are mad enough to read through the entirety of my insane fantasy-rambling, just keep in mind... I do everything for a reason.

So without further ado, here's the roster I'd slap together:

CHARACTERS: (By Franchise)
Mario Bros: Mario, Luigi, Captain Toad*, Peach, Daisy*, Rosalina, Yoshi, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Wario, and Waluigi.
DK: Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and King K. Rool.
Legend of Zelda: Link, Midna*, Zelda, Impa*, Ganondorf*, and Ghirahim*.
Metroid: Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Ridley*, and Sylux*.
Kid Icarus: Pit, Palutena, and Hades.
Fire Emblem: Marth, Lyn*, Ike, and Robin.
Kirby: Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight*, Bandana Dee.
Star Fox: Fox, Krystal, and Wolf.
Pokemon: Pikachu, Jigglypuff*, Charizard, Greninja, Sceptile*, Lucario, Mewtwo*, and [Insert New/7th Generation Pokemon here]*.
Mother/Earthbound: Ness, and Lucas*.
F-Zero: Captain Falcon, and Black Shadow*.
Single-Franchise Reps: Villager, Olimar, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Inkling (Splatoon)*, Isaac (Golden Sun), and Sami (Advanced Wars).
Retro: Game & Watch, R.O.B, Duck Hunt, and Mach Rider.
Third Party: Sonic, Tails*, Snake*, Mega Man, Ryu* Amaterasu*, Rayman, Pac-Man, Simon Belmont*, and Bayonetta*.
Other: Mii Fighters*, and Captain N*.

(Red = Mostly Unchanged/Returning. Green = Newcomer. Yellow = Moveset Overhaul. Purple = Clone.)
Characters choices/changes explanations:
Mario Bros:
Captain Toad: Has the weakest jump in the game, but a damn good recovery in the form of his trusty grapple hook, which can travel a surprising distance in whichever direction it is pointed.Daisy: Isn't a Peach clone, as I'd be using her as a character to represent the Mario sports games. Her character model is a HD re-model of her Mario Strikers football armor, and her final smash would be the special charged striker attack, in which she kicks/punches a number of different flaming footballs at her opponents. (Think something along the lines of Mario's final smash, but the fireballs are much smaller, but also much faster too.)

Legend of Zelda:
I would want to give the franchise a huge overhaul, as I feel it's just gotten a little bit random with it's choices. So, obviously I would need to have Link, Zelda, and Ganon/Ganondorf there to represent the Triforce. But at the same time, Zelda is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises... So, I took out Sheik (As I didn't feel she actually did all that much in Ocarina of Time anyway) and Toon Link, and decided to replace them with Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf's respectable side-kicks.
For Link, I choose Midna, because she is arguably Link's most popular companion out of all the LoZ games besides Navi and Epona (And how the holy hell could I make a convincing moveset out of a gaddamn pixie and a horse.)
For Zelda, I chose Impa, as she has been Zelda's 'Guardian' of sorts in every Zelda game she has appeared in, and could be used as a sort of 'spiritual successor' to Sheik, as she is a legitimately trained Sheikah.
And for Ganondorf, I chose Ghirahim. Why? 1) Because he was the most recent LoZ Side-Villain and played a rather large role in Skyward Sword, even without Demise telling him what to do.

2) He has a fair amount of moveset potential (same goes for Midna and Impa).
And 3) He's fabulous.Oh, and I'd give Ganondorf his own unique moveset too, because I'm pretty sure that's what everyone wants out of him at this point. (And for those who don't I'll get into what I did with his old moveset later...)

Metroid:
Ridley: His moveset would be almost the exact opposite of Little Mac's, as he would have great air mobility and flying attacks, but be very slow and encumbered while on the ground, making up for his sheer size (Don't worry too much, he'd still be sized down, but only to a size that's roughly a little bit taller than Bowser). He would be able to perform attacks in mid-air that other fighters wouldn't be able to, such as grabbing his opponents mid-jump. He would also have a completely original design which takes inspiration from Ridleys of times gone by... Such as Other M Ridley's muscular physique, his usual down-hooked beak, and his deadly tail spike.
However... To stop people from just staying in the air for extended periods of time and spamming projectiles just out of reach from those on the ground, I would alter his model slightly to make it so his wings would be smaller than previous incarnations of Ridley (About 2/3 the size of Other M Ridley's wings). For the sake of balance, this would restrict his air mobility to an extent, as I would add a meter above his character icon (similar to Little Mac's) that would decrease the longer he stays in the air, meaning after he stays up for roughly 10-20 seconds, he would need to stay on the ground for a while to recover the energy in the meter. The longer he stays in the air, he would have to spend even longer on the ground to build back up his wing's strength.
His Final Smash would transform him into Ridley X, where he becomes slightly mutated and vicious-looking (similar to Bowser and Giga Bowser), grow in size ever-so-slightly, have increased attack power, and have unlimited air mobility.
So yeah, that about sums him up...Oh, and for the sake of bestowing another rep to the Metroid franchise, I'd throw in Sylux as a slightly altered Samus clone. He'd be like what Ganondorf was to Captain Falcon. He'd be bulkier than Samus, and move slightly slower, while most of his attacks would hit a little harder. I would have put Dark Samus in this position instead, but the thought of 3/4 Metroid reps having "Samus" in their name didn't seem all that diverse...
Fire Emblem:
Lyn: I choose her because she was the main protag of the first Fire Emblem to be released in the West. She would be a much quicker fighter compared to Ike, Marth or Robin, and would have a rather different moveset compared to them.

Kirby:
Simple. We all know Meta Knight was OP as f**k in Brawl, so he obviously had to be nerfed in Smash 4. Thing is, Sakurai didn't just nerf him, he NEUTERED him! I'd really just want to change up his specials a bit, and buff him up eeeeeever so slightly, just to make him a little bit easier to use.

Star Fox:

I'd remove Falco for a start (soz Falco fans ;_ ;), mainly because between himself and Wolf (You know, the OTHER Fox clone), I just personally think Wolf would make a better addition to the roster. I would alter Wolfs moveset drastically to remove most traces of him ever being a Fox clone, and slap an all new final smash on him as well. Hell, it would even be all that hard, as all of his regular moves are pretty much completely original on their own. The only things that would need changing would be his Specials and Final Smash. And even THEN, his regular special and side+special are so different from Fox's as is, they could probably stay the same.
Anyway, as for a final smash, he could either call in Star Wolf to shoot up the stage, or have him jump into the Wolfen to shoot it up himself. Simple as that.
Also, I'd add in Krystal as a third rep, simply because she is the only major Star Fox character I could think of that wouldn't have a moveset that would just be yet ANOTHER Fox clone. So everyone wins!

Pokemon:
Jigglypuff: She's stayed the exact same for 4/5 games now, and I'm kinda tired of it. If she wasn't one of the original 12, I really wouldn't add her in whatsoever. But then I remembered that she's since had a type change thanks to Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, and would be able to have a revamped moveset with a bunch of original Fairy moves. So... Hooray! Jiggs would make the cut! HOORAH!
Sceptile: It'd add in mainly to complete a trio of starters. One fire type, one water, and now one grass. Also, while Charizard is a very heavy/slow fighter, and Greninja is a rather fast/light fighter, I'd imagine Sceptile would be a nice little "Middle Man",and could be a good all-round fighter. Plus, he received a Mega Evolution in ORAS, making much more eligible for a slot than before.
Mewtwo: Assuming his moveset isn't changed from Melee when he returns to Smash (since we haven't seen any gameplay footage of him yet), I'd just give him a completely new moveset that would be more interesting to use, opposed to his otherwise mediocre Melee moveset. Simple as.
Gen 7 Pokemon: Because Odds are there would be something new and interesting in there, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if the only Pokemon newcomer I added was Sceptile. Whoever the Flagship Mon is for Gen 7, just assume I'd put him in as playable.

Earthbound & F-Zero:
First off, we've had 5 different Smash games now, and how come Ness and Falcon have been there since day-one, and are STILL the only reps for their individual franchises? I mean, I can get why there hasn't been an F-Zero rep, as it's somewhat difficult to make a good moveset out of someone who only ever drives around in space races. Not to mention Cap himself was given a completely original moveset when he was first introduced... But Earthboud? No excuses.
So, I'd bring back Lucas to change his special moves and final smash so he'd have his own completely original moveset of PK moves. So that would hopefully have the Earthbound representation be air and balanced...
But what about F-Zero I hear you ask? Well, remember earlier when I said I gave Ganondorf a 100% original moveset, but would still keep his old moveset around in some shape or form? Yeah, I'd bring in Captain Falcon's nemesis, Black Shadow, and give him Ganondorf's old moveset to keep everyone happy. After all, it makes more sense to have the Captain Falcon clone character be an F-Zero character now doesn't it?

Other:
Inkling: Would be unique, as her attacks would be to use the paintbrush to fit her opponents, while her specials would be various types of ink-shooting attacks. The more ink attacks she uses, the more she spreads her ink around the floor of the stage... And when she's covered in enough, she uses her down+special to turn into squid form and move through the ink at a much faster speed than in human form. The only way to hit her while in the ink would be to use either your down+special, down+tilt, or down+smash. Because of this, she is mostly invulnerable while submerged in the ink, but is unable to use her shield or dodges. If Inkling positions herself right beneath a stationary opponent, she would be able use her up special to jump out at them in a devastating KO move (similar to Jigglypuff's down+special).
Her specials that would cover the stage in ink would be her regular special, the ink blaster, which is just a standard inkling gun that would shoot globs of ink at opponents and also cover the stage (can only shoot 5 shots at any given time for the sake of balance), her side+special which would be the paint roller, which (as the name implies) would roll a continuous strand of ink across a flat surface (eventually drying up and running out of ink if it is used too much, again, for the sake of balance), and her Final Smash, the Orbital Ink Strike. This is where a continuous beam of ink is called down for the sky, and covers random parts of the stage all over in ink, as well as KOing fighters that get caught up in the beam itself.

Third Party:
Originally, I would have gone by the rules of "only one third party character per-company". For example, SEGA would only have Sonic as a rep, and Capcom with Mega Man. But where's the fun in that? Sure, I haven't gone OVERBOARD with the third party choices, as the roster clearly still consists of Nintendo characters, but it's just nice to add in a few surprise entrants as well, you know?
So anyways...

Tails: Because he's the 2nd biggest Sonic character there is. And excluding the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game, Tails has pretty much always been there. Since he's an 'inventor' of sorts, his moveset would consist of using various sorts of gadgets to help him fight, as well as obviously using his twin-tails as a fairly mobile recover move (kind of like Villager's up+special)
Snake: Don't really need to explain much. I like Snake, lots of other people like Snake too. Bring him back with a slightly altered moveset that would be more focused on his MGS abilities opposed to just giving him a lot of military equipment. Simple as that, I guess.
Ryu: Because he's one of gaming's most iconic characters, and has appeared on both NES and 3DS, making him an eligable for Smash. Plus, his movset wouldn't be all that difficult.
Standard+Special = Hadoken
Side+Special = Tatsumaki Senpukyaku
Up+Special = Shoryuken
Down + Special = Hyper Combo Charge

His down Special would charge up over a continuous period of time. When fully charged, Ryu would glow with a red aura, and be put into "Hyper Combo" mode. Since pulling off combos is a big part of the core Street Fighter gameplay, when in Hyper Combo mode, Ryu's speed would slightly increase, and the more consecutive combos he manages to pull off, the damage he will increasingly do. If he is interrupted while chaining combos, then the damage ratio dealt to opponents would reset back to normal, and he would need to charge up Hyper Mode using the down+special again (Which I would make deliberately difficult)
Amaterasu: I would love to have in as yet another unique fighter. After playing Marvel vs Capcom 3, I realised just how awesome she could work in Smash. In a similar way that Shulk uses his standard+special to switch into different Monado powers, Amaterasu would switch between 3 different weapons. Her regular back-plate wouldn't have that much reach, but would deal average damage and Smashing/KO power. Her Beads would deal more damage, but have less Smashing/KO power. And the Sword wouldn't deal too much damage, but would have much more Smashing/KO power behind it.
Simon Belmont: I would add in for the sake of having a good retro rep that would be able to fit into Smash almost perfectly with his array of different weapons and equipment.
Bayonetta: I would add in because Platinum Games have been buddying up to Nintendo real nice as of late, and I'd love to give them that big pay-off in the form of a Smash roster spot. I personally loved Bayo 2, and while I'm not exactly sure how she would be made to be SFW to fit in Smash... I'm sure it could be done... Somehow...

Single-Franchise Reps:
Mii Fighter: I'd make it so that as well as being able to customize Headgear and outfits, you could also customise what weapon it is the fighter uses. (Gloves/Fists for brawler, Sword for Sword Fighter, and Blaster for Mii Gunner). I'd also introduce a 4th type of Mii Fighter in the form of the Mii Magician, who would be able to use magical-based attacks, such as moves that are reminiscent of Ness' moveset, or even someone such as Lucario's moveset.
Captain N: Because out of all the characters I considered to be the "Wild Card", Captain N fit perfectly. Seriously, he's the only 4th party character that would legitimately WORK, as he was a Nintendo creation and was heavily Video-Game themed. He would be able to use classic Nintendo items such as the Zapper and Power glove as special moves. And if he actually ogt revealed as a playable character in the next Smash, everyone around would collectively lose their s**t, and it would be glorious.

As for stages... I dunno, we can do what we want, right? After all, this is all just fantasy-booking, so why not. I'd give every character at LEAST 1 stage, in some random cases, two stages. I'd also do what everyone has been wanting to be included in Smash 4, and throw a Hazard switch on the stage select, disabling/enabling stage hazards.

Stages: [Stage Name] ([Character it's for]/[Game it's from])
Smash Stages: Battlefield, BIG Battlefield, and Final Destination.
Mario Bros: World 1-1 (Mario/Super Mario Bros.), Luigi's Mansion (Luigi/Luigi's Mansion), Mushroom Gorge (Toad/Mario Kart Wii), Peach's Castle (Peach/Super Mario 64), Crystal Canyon (Daisy/Mario Strikers Charged Football), Comet Observatory (Rosalina/Super Mario Galaxy), Yoshi's Island (Yoshi/Yoshi's Island), Bowser's Castle (Bowser/Super Mario Bros.), Bowser's Airship (Bowser Jr. Super Mario Bros. 3), Wario Land (Wario/Wario Land), and Waluigi's Pinball (Wario/Mario Kart).
Donkey Kong: 75m (Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong), Fun FUn Land (Diddy Kong/Diddy Kong Racing), Kong House (Dixie Kong/Donkey Kong Country), Jungle Japes (Cranky Kong/Donkey Kong Country), and Gangplank Galleon (K. Rool/Donkey Kong Country).

Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Field (Link/Ocarina of Time), Twilight Realm (Midna/Twilight Princess), Hyrule Castle (Zelda/Ocarina of Time), Shadow Temple (Impa/Ocarina of TIme), Ganon's Tower (Ganondorf/Ocarina of Time), and Sealed Grounds (Ghirahim/Skyward Sword).
Metroid: Gunship Landing-Zone (Samus/Metroid Prime), Space Pirate Mothership (Zero Suit Samus/Zero Mission), Artifact Temple (Ridley/Metroid Prime), and Infinity Void (Sylux/Metroid Prime Hunters).
Kid Icarus: Angel Land (Pit/Kid Icarus), Skyworld (Palutena/Kid Icarus), and Underworld (Hades/Kid Icarus: Uprising).
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (Marth/Fire Emblem), Caelin (Lyn/Fire Emblem: The Sword of Flame), Castle Siege (Ike/Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn), and Colosseum (Robin/Fire Emblem Awakening).

Kirby: Wispy Woods (Kirby/Kirby's Dream Land), Mt. Dedede (King Dedede/Kirby's Dream Land), Halberd (Meta Knight/Kirby Superstar), and Ninja Dojo (Bandana Dee/Return to Dream Land).
Star Fox: Corneria (Fox/Star Fox 64), ThornTail Hollow (Krystal/Star Fox Adventures), and Sargasso Space Zone (Wolf/Star Fox Assault).
Pokemon: Pokemon Stadium 3 (Pikachu/Original Stage), Poke Floats (Jigglypuff/Melee), Mt Silver (Charizard/Pokemon Crystal), Lumious Tower (Greninja/Pokemon X & Y), Sky Pillar (Sceptile/Pokemon Emerald), Spear Pillar (Lucario/Pokemon Platinum), and Cerulean Cave (Mewtwo/Pokemon Red & Blue).

Earthbound: Onett (Ness/Earthbound), Magicant (Ness/Earthbound), and Tazmily Town (Lucas/Mother 3).
F-Zero: Mute City (Captain Falcon/F-Zero), and Big Hand (Black Shadow/F-Zero X).
Single-Franchise Reps: Town & City (Villager/Animal Crossing City Folk), Garden of Hope (Olimar/Pikmin 3), Wii Fit U Studio (Wii Fit Trainer/Wii Fit U), Boxing Ring (Little Mac/Punch-Out!!), Training Room (Little Mac/Punch-Out!! Wii), Inkling City (Inkling/Splatoon), Venus Lighthouse (Isaac/Golden Sun), and Enigma! (Sami/Advance Wars).
Retro: Flat-Zone X (Game & Watch), Gyromite (R.O.B/Gyromite), Duck Hunt (Duck Hunt), and 2112 (Mach Rider).
Third Party: Green Hill Zone (Sonic/Sonic the Hedgehog), Casino Night Zone (Tails/Sonic the Hedgehog 2), Dr. Wily Fortress (Mega Man), Shadow Moses (Snake/Metal Gear Solid), Medieval Madness (Rayman/Rayman Legends), Ryu's Stage (Ryu/Street Fighter II), Shinshu Field (Amaterasu/Okami), Pac-Man Arcade (Pac-Man), Dracula's Throne-Room (Simon Belmont/Castlevania II), and Fimbulventr (Bayonetta/Bayonetta 2).
Other: Nintendo Land, Mii Plaza (Mii Fighters), and Television (Captain N).

For music and trophies, I wouldn't be able to fit in all that I'd want, so let's just say for now that I'd put in "a lot".
As for other general stuff:
- Boss Rush mode. Similar to Brawls' but with less OC bosses, and more bosses from other games, such as Mother Brain, Giratina, Eggman, etc...
- Costumes for everyone! Literally, every character gets at LEAST 2 costumes. Hell, they don't even have to be related to the character at hand. For example, remember Wart from Mario Bros. 2? Give him a hammer, and BAM, you've got yourself a Dedede alt costume. He could jump sky-high, because of his frogs legs. He could throw out shy-guys opposed to gordoes (still has the same effect). Stuff like that could work. Another example could be a Zoroark costume for greninja. Change the watch attack textures to darkness ones, and he'd fit right in.
- A new story mode to one-up Subspace Emissary. It would be twice the length, have alternate routes and endings to choose from through the players choice, and you could throw together your own band of Nintendo characters opposed to having certain ones put together for you.
- Adventure mode would be back, and would be AWESOME.
- Would also bring back target blast too, for the sake of more fun minigames.

WHOOOOOOO. FInally done... Sorry for the insane wall of text, but I've just been thinking over that stuff in my head for a while now, and it was nice to see a thread where I could pretty much just 'vent' it out.
Also, to anyone who actually WAS crazy enough to read the whole thing, congrats to you. Here's a congratulatory gif:

Melee/PM gameplay.
Take Ike, Sonic, Mega Man, and Lucina/Dark Pit out of the roster
Put Sheik/Zelda together again.
Boss Rush mode instead of Story Mode. This is better for Super Smash Bros.
Give heavies attribute to offer a Smash Game where the fastest/fast ones aren't the greatest/great ones.
Return of Yoshi's Story and Fountain of Dreams.
Event mode with 100 events, allowing to unlock 2 charas.
More characters are turned unlockable, and the condition to unlock them are harder to accomplish than ever.

That's about it.

Game Title: Super Smash Bros. All-Stars

My idea for this game is basically taking all of the best things from the past smash games and putting them into one.

ROSTER
  • Smash 4 Roster minus Dark Pit*, Lucina*, and all third party characters.
  • Ice Climbers make a comeback. Mostly unchanged from Brawl. "Wobbling" removed, as are chain grabs for all characters a la smash 4
  • Melee Roy makes a comeback. He keeps his original animation for Flare Blade (Marth continues to use the stabbing Shield Breaker) Other tweaks to his moveset make him more of a "Semi-Clone" similar to Falco, Lucas, Luigi, Ganonodorf, ect. And further tweaks are made to balance him to the current state of Smash Bros game play.
  • Lucas makes a comeback. Mostly unchanged from Brawl.
  • Wolf makes a comeback. Mostly unchanged from Brawl.
  • Ivysaur makes a comeback. Mostly unchanged from Brawl. His neutral B is now Solar Beam Charge, works similarly to PM Ivysaur's Solar Beam only no healing, can be rolled out of, charges faster, and is slightly less powerful. Similar to DK's Giant Punch or Samus's Charge Shot. Down B is now "Bullet Seed" from brawl, good for combos and anti-air.
  • Squirtle makes a comeback. Mostly unchanged from Brawl. (He'll need a new down B)
  • Dixie Kong added, "Semi-Clone" of Diddy Kong. Strong emphasis on ponytail attacks, has +1 midair jump.
  • Chorus Kids added. (Smash 4 game code imply that they were originally intended to be in the game)
  • More alt. costumes added for characters.
  • Mewtwo, of course.
  • Plusle & Minun added (Pokemon). This character is based on Pichu and Ice Climbers. They're a tag team like Ice Climbers, but have all the weaknesses of Pichu. Tweaks are made to the Pichu/Pikachu move set to incorporate more of their Ice Climber like features. (Its not guaranteed this character would make the cut, seeing as Pokemon already has 8 representatives. But i think its an interesting idea nonetheless)
  • Other possible newcomers (Ridley, Waluigi, K. Rool, ect. I'm not opposed to have these characters in the game, but first things first)
*These characters are now alt. costumes as originally intended.

STAGES

Keeping with the theme, all of the stages would be returning from past games. Mostly "competitively viable" stages would be the focus. But also large/fun FFA stages like Corneria would be added. All stages have an "Omega" version, there is also an option to turn off stage hazards.

GAMEPLAY

Alright, here's the big one. I want to keep this semi-realistic. The game play would be based around Smash 4, taking elements from other games to help balance things.

  • Slightly increased hit stun
  • Slightly increased fall speed on almost all characters
  • Most characters now have more options out of a grab. Every character will have at least ONE of the following: A true combo and/or followup out of a throw (think Diddy, C. Falcon, Mario, ZSS, Luigi, ect.) OR characters deemed worthy will be given a kill throw or a buff to their kill throw (Think Ness back throw power on Kirby up throw, ect.)
  • More Shield push back on powerful moves.
  • Perfect Shield is slightly more difficult to time and can now reflect most weak projectiles.
  • Slightly slower shield regeneration time.
  • Slight speed buffs on slower characters and power buffs on weaker characters.
  • Overall competitively focused balancing of the roster
  • Decreased landing lag on many (if not most) aerial attacks. Most characters now have multiple aerials that auto cancel on short hop.
  • Rolls are more easily punished
  • Spot dodges and air dodges have less time to dodge (a la Dodgy Dodger equipment)

Super Smash Bros. 5 (Working Title)

Engine Type:
Same as Smash 4, but Smooth Lander/Heavy Gravity is the default. Recovery moves are not affected by the heavy gravity. Oh, and rolls are nerfed.
Roster: Surprisingly, someone doesn't get dropped. A few characters from previous games that were dropped finally make their return as well as some new ones. Certain characters have also been reworked.
  • Ice Climbers - Probably overdone to hell, but yeah, the Ice Climbers are back. However, wobbling has been nerfed to a small degree.
  • Mewtwo - Now returning to the game as an initial character rather than DLC. Is a slightly toned-down version of PM!Mewtwo.
  • Lucina - Now reworked to be a semi-clone of Marth instead of a full clone, much like how Luigi is now less of a Mario clone. Changes include: Longer range on the Parallel Falchion to make up for the lack of a tipper, slight increase in damage on existing tilts, aerials and smash attacks, new B attacks, new Final Smash.
  • Teddie - New third-party character representing the Persona series. Moveset is mostly inspired by Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Shadow Teddie is one of his alternate costumes, giving him a much more sinister VO.
  • Dark Pit - Has been given most of Pit's Brawl moveset. Still retains the Guardian Orbitars, however. Tilts, aerials and smash attacks have been changed, however.
  • Wolf - Returns from Brawl and remains mostly unchanged from there.
  • Squirtle and Ivysaur - Returns from Brawl. Both are similar to their Project M counterparts.
Stages: All tournament-legal stages make a return, as well as popular stages within the non-competitive community (ie. Spear Pillar, Temple, Magicant, Hyrule Temple 64, Saffron City 64) However, considering Teddie is a newcomer, a new stage has been added to represent the Persona series:
  • Midnight Channel - A transforming stage with minimal stage hazards. Switches between the hub of the Midnight Channel, Yukiko's Castle, Secret Laboratory, Void Quest and Heaven in a random order, much like all Pokémon Stadiums. Multiple Shadows as well as Shadow Yukiko, Shadow Chie, Shadow Naoto and Shadow Yosuke make appearances in the background. Shadow Kanji and Shadow Rise don't appear because that'll give the game an M rating.
Other unspecified stages make an appearance too (currently unnamed, I can't think of any other ideas right now)

Well, since this hypothetical game would come out less than a year from now, I'd think it would just be SSB4 plus a handful of new characters and stages--an eye-roller "Ultimate Edition" to make buyers of the original SSB4 feel like chumps.

This topic is a really cool idea. :)
This is what I would change in the next smash:

Characters

- Make the characters use more "indirect" moves, like Snake used to have. This means attacks to place traps or obstacles or ways to force your opponent into something without directly dealing damage.
- Allow some form of custom character creation, where you create the entire moveset.
- Add more attacks with special features, like Greninja's water push, monado arts, villager's pocket, villager riding the loyd, villager's tree sequence (I like villager), diddy's banana, pacman's trampoline, luigi's taunt, etc.
- Change the movesets more drastically for (semi-)clones like ganon.

Game mechanics
- Give characters more movement options like wavedashes and melee airdodges, but probably implemented in a different way (like a dash button for both maybe).
- Make combo's possible, but make it easier on each consecutive hit to escape from the combo. For example: You start with hit 1, hit 2 has 90% chance of connecting, hit 3 has 75%, hit 4 has 50%, etc. So if you read the opponent perfectly, you get a true combo, but the longer the combo goes on, the easier it is for your opponent to escape.
- Make bluffing and reads a bigger part of the game to increase the psychological warfare.
- Add more options to jab combo's, similar to Marth's side-B, so you can go from jabs to down or up tilts easier.
- Make shields regenerate more slowly.
- Make shields more powerful, but also make them moveable to some degree (much more than melee), leaving some spots extra protected, while others are more vulnerable.

Game modes
- Have a mode similar to the Brawl SSE or any type of single player adventure mode, as long as it gives a different experience every time you play it
- Implement a mode where items are involved, but not in a random way. Maybe you could select some items pre-battle and have a button combination set up to use the item.
- Add a mode where you choose a number of characters in advance, and then play short battles against your opponent in that pre-set order of characters
- Create custom event matches
- Create mini-games

Extra Game features
- Allow sharing replays and saving them in video format in some way.
- Make it possible to change the CPU level and character on the fly in training mode
- Have a way to unlock custom moves seperately from trophies and coins, and have them additionally unlockable through versus mode and online play.

Stages
- Add a hazard ON/OFF switch
- Make a stage builder with a HUGE number of parts and cosmetic options
- Add more funny gimmicks to stages, like the fruit trees on the 3ds island stage.

Online
- Allow easier and more direct messaging to friends you've added in the online mode. Maybe even some way to communicate during fights.
- Add a seperate mode for custom moves

I freak out because I have less than a year to develop a game in a series where the prior games have taken much longer than that. I port Sm4sh over with lazy tweaks but promote it as a whole new installment. Thankfully because it's on a new Nintendo system that isn't the Wii U it manages to sell well and I get to keep my job.

Smash Bros. on Motorcycles
Everyone rides a motorcycle all the time and can never turn, so they always ride off the stage and die uncontrollably
Take out all characters and add Shrek, Bigley, Goku, and Magikarp (with robotic arms and legs)
Tell no one anything until the release date.
Release it.
Bask in the money.

Everyone from previous Smash games would return, but with some considerations:

*Some returning veterans would be only available as DLC
*One such veteran, Ice Climbers, would be one of five exclusive characters on the Wii U version. The other Wii U-exclusive characters would also be characters from home console games, whereas the five exclusive characters on the 3DS version would come from handheld games (in all cases, lesser-known franchises to minimize controversy).

I'd try to get back the Hal Lab team that worked on 64 and Melee, in order to create a new fighting system that offered a lot of speed and combo capability. If I can't get the original Hal team to assist me, I'll just have the new team rely on using 64 and Melee as a basis for when we are working on the game's mechanics. I'd also bring in high ranking competitive players from those two games to test out the game and offer insight on what could be improved or changed. That would be my main objective but there'd also be some other changes and improvements:

- Classic mode will return to it's more arcade like form with new and unique "break the target" stages, along with the return of "race to the finish" and "board the platforms". The CPU opponents will also be randomized every time you play, similar to how it was in Melee.
- A Melee-style adventure mode would return, with more stages which emulated the games that they came from.
- All Star will also have randomized opponent placement, rather than a set order in which you fight them.
- The entire roster wouldn't be revealed before the game is released...at least not purposely. Some reveal trailers are fine but I'd like to keep some characters secret (as possible, given the internet and all) so players can discover them as they're unlocked. Deciding on who will be in the game will come down to public votes but the results will only be revealed after the game is released.
- New stages galore but this time more geared towards solid combat rather than just craziness. We'll still have the wacky, party stages of course but they're also be some stages specifically geared towards competitive play, including some returning stages from previous games. The omega option will also return.
- Online mode will be similar to how it is in Smash 4 but with a few changes. For Glory mode will now feature both final destination and battlefield type stages. There will also be 3 stock matches instead of 2 (there may be more in tournament play, but 3 stocks will make online matches go faster without feeling too short). There will also be a middle mode that takes the "no items" and stocks aspect from For Glory but also has no limits on the stage choices (though some may be blocked if they promote camping).

I'd call it: Super Smash Bros. Turbo....or something that actually sounded cool.

No, a true sequel to Melee. New mechanics that take what worked in 64 and Melee and expand upon them. Tighter controls, lengthier combos, a more balanced roster, etc. Basically it would be the game, Brawl should have been. An upgrade over the previous instalment that takes what worked and improves upon it, rather than a huge downgrade which reduces everything to please the casual audience.

So I'm going to add on to the ideas that I posted earlier in this thread. I would have updated my old post, but it gets so laggy editing it that it's just not worth it. I've also decided to make some changes to the original idea as well.

Gameplay Mechanics:
- The speed for SSB5 would be the same as its predecessor. SSB4 already has a nice pacing between Melee and Brawl IMO, so changing the speed wouldn't be necessary.

- The Rage Effect is still present, but it's not as effective as it was in SSB4, and it now caps at 100% instead at 150%.

- Shields can now reflect weak projectiles if powershielded.

- Bowsercide is now possible, in that it actually KOs the opponent first.

- As an aesthetic, a "combo counter" appears when the player makes a successful string of moves, much like in a traditional fighting game. There's even a counter aesthetic that appears if the opponent counters their string. This does not appear in any match that has over four characters though.

- Customs this time around now focus on more unique moves for the most part instead of variations of the same move. Like for example, players can replace Mario's Up B with FLUUD, which behaves similar to a jetpack.

Characters:
- Ridley and K. Rool would be considered the largest characters on the roster to date, just being slightly larger than Bowser himself. However K. Rool would be the heaviest character overall and Ridley would be lighter due to his flight capabilities.

- Ridley would be considered the "Anti-Mac". He has an excellent air game and recovery but his land game leaves much to be desired. Ridley players would have to rely on juggling opponents and taking advantage of Ridley's aerial game. Like with any large character though, they must be mindful about his size, as he has a large hitbox.

- K. Rool's moveset would focus on most of the abilities and tricks that he used in the final battles from the DKC games he appeared in. His customs would also focus on these as well. His weight is both his biggest strength and weakness; He's hard to launch but he falls ridiculously fast, and he has a harder time recovering because of it.

I feel like more could be done for Lucina in the next game. So I'm going to go into detail about her moveset:

- Lucina would have similar physics to Marth, but would be considered lighter and faster than him overall. Her sword would still do equal damage but would have the same range as Marth's. I've stated in my last post that I would base her moveset off of the PSA mod created by masterhandcrazyhand, but make tweaks to it to make it more balanced. Here's what I would change:

First of all, here's a couple videos for reference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Gx6s3lZ4I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52DyJJgIh0I

- Her Side B would be split into three separate moves, two of which would be customs. Because of this, the startup animation would be removed. The changes I would make to each of them would be:
- Aether's length would be halved
- Astra remains the same
- Aegis cannot be cancelled into any other move

- Ignis now becomes her Neutral B instead of being her aerial Side B. It also goes half the distance as the move from the mod. Her old Neutral B, Helm Breaker, is now a custom.
- Galeforce is still her Up B, but she can't act out of it.
- Pass is still her Down B, but she loses her invincibility frames at the end.

- Overall, her specials would be balanced out more, but the rest of her moves would remain the same, but with minor tweaks. She would be a character that thrives on making fast combos that rack up damage very quickly. Her recovery would also be better than both Marth's and Ike's, but not to the extent as shown in the mod. A good majority of her moves would be based off of FE:A, but a few of her customs would be similar to Marth's in a way.

I will add more to this post later.

I'm too tired to write a bunch, but I'll just say I'll cut down on the new characters, probably cut a few characters to help with development and polishing, and of course add in the Jellyfish Sisters as either some kinda Ice Climber-esque character or transforming character, or hybrid.

Also I'd get rid of the air dodge and bring back the air thingy from Melee since I feel too much air dodging hurts aerial combat for me in terms of fun.

Also I'm getting rid of the Star Fox Command designs and bringing back the Melee designs for the Star Fox characters.

Every single character would be closest to their original games as possible, donkey kong would throw barrels, most of wario's animations and Attacks would be from Wario land, ganondorfs would be ganondorf. Some newcomers would be King hippo, Dixie Kong, Toad, King K Rool, Mona, Isaac, chibi robo, the newest pokemon and fire emblem characters that interest me, medusa, captain syrup, Krystal, Tetris and ridley. There would be absolutely no clones in the game at all. Characters like dark pit, dr Mario and lucina will be alternate costumes while characters like ganondorf, toon link, Falco and Lucas would be completely fleshed out as original characters. Moves like dark pit side b and docs neutral b will be custom moves and there are special stat badges for each alternate costume character. Eg. A stat badge for pikachu that gives him pichus stats. Every single character that has been in a smash game will be in the game but maybe not at launch. There would be no handheld version so I could focus on making an amazing console version. the game will be completely different and look different to brawl and smash 4 so it can have an identity which I felt smash 4 was lacking. The final fight in smahs tour will be a seperate mode. Every character will have a death animation in stamina mode and if you die in a stock match then you will be put in the background to spectate like pokemon trainer. Every pokemon except for mewtwo will have a trainer and every charcter has custom moves like palutena and mii fighters

One thing that I've been thinking of recently (it's really small) and I can't remember if I posted it in my original post is that I want stages to have world location prefixes like they did in Melee. So like "Mushroom Kingdom: Mario Circuit" or "Kalos: Kalos Pokemon League". It's way more interesting than just giving the game each stage is based on.

Alright.

New DLC :
Toad (Captain) - basically a pick up and play mix up character with backpack stuff covering midrange.

Lucas - Lucas would be more of a close range charscter, attributes somewhat like project m(hand charge).

Professor Layton - rapier sweeps, gadgets etc. Being creative like DHD.
Raichu - unlike pika, would be a rush down character. Would be a semi-clone.
Wonder Red - super powers. Wonder specials.
Vet DLC:
Ice Climber (Nana and Pop are separated in char slots)

Net code changed to GGPO,
a slight speed increase (like maybe 1.5 speed)
Custom mode on for glory,
Shorter dcon punishment

>Mode where Final Smashes become more OP based on how behind you are.

>Mode where Final Smashes can be charged by fighting instead of waiting for balls.

>Mode where transformation Final Smashes fight each other.

>Use one or all of these ideas to give Sonic his Hyper Sonic form and make it more OP than the Hyper Sonic mods for Brawl. (Could slow time, insta-kill, blow up everything, etc)

>Top kek as the internet burns fast.

I'll brake it down by categories:

General:
-Attempt to open negotiations with Rare and Square Enix to get Characters not owned by Nintendo, but important to Nintendo's history, into smash (Banjo-Kazooie, Other Kongs outside of DK and Diddy, Geno, Etc.). You could potentially explore 3rd party appearances by their characters too (I.E. A Kingdom hearts rep since they have had a long line of games on the handhelds), but getting the previously listed characters is the priority.

Singleplayer:
-Make a new version of Melee adventure mode. I felt that was the best balance of single player elements without going overboard in a fighting game. Basically, update it to include all the new franchises, and new levels. Get the devs from the other game series involved to make those levels as true to their source games as possible.

Casual Multiplayer:
-Add what I call "Troll God" mode. The person with the Wii U tablet doesn't actually play, but can control hazard activations on stages and item drops(when and where they drop). Hilarity and likely a lot of rage ensues.

-Look into what new items can be added

-Add onto existing single player modes (Challenges, arena, allstar, etc.)

Multiplayer:

-Balance the game around 1v1, stock, no items, on stages without hazards. Casual play with items will naturally fall into place after this core is established. Get a balance team in to work on it. (To be honest I don't think Bandai Namco did an awful job; possibly bring them in again but with an even more focused scope).

Online play:

- Make the latency issues as minimal as possible
- If technology allows it, enable 8 player smash online (I think it was tech issues that stopped this in smash 4 iirc)
- Have a "For Fun" and "For Glory" division like you have now, but develop them more. For Fun is basically perfect right now; just add 8 player ffa, 4v4, and 2v2v2v2 modes.
-As for for Glory, have 3 modes: 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4. Remove 4 player free for all. Each of these modes will have a ladder system attached to them. The best Ladder system I've seen from Nintendo so far is in Mario Kart, so make it a derivative of that ranking system. 1v1 will feature FD/Omegas, and neutrals as we have come to know them in the smash community. So Battlefield, Smashvilles, Town and Cities, Dreamland 64s, those stages. Doubles will follow the same format, except for two changes: 1. Team attack is ON and 2. Separate ladder rankings for a same wii u team mate, and random team mates. Like smash 4 does already, only match same wii u team mate with same wii u team mate opponents. 4vs4s would allow any stages that don't have hazards, and there would be no separate ladder points for same wiiu team mates except for 4 people on the same wii u. Team attack on.
-Users can select which stages they want to play on, but the game randomly chooses which one is played in the first match. If the 2 matched players or teams decide to keep playing, the stage will be whichever one the loser of the previous match picks.

There should be a setting where you can set the pace of the game. Want the fast-pacedness of Melee? Fine. Want the slow-pacedness of Brawl? Okay. Want to be in the middle like Sm4sh? That is okay too.

Rainbow Cruise
Tripping is back and increased to 35% trip rate, you can also trip in the air so it's balanced among air and ground characters
Only moving stages are in the game since it tests a player's adaptability. Rainbow Cruise, Pokefloats, Big Blue, Rumble Falls, Icicle mountain, etc. There's a "Zeta" mode for each stage to make them all Rainbow Cruise too.
Mario is cut- He's way too mainstream. Harry Potter, Michael Jordan, Tony the Toucan, Paul Bunyan, and Josh Nickles are now in the game. Ridley is still too big.
Since people like old stuff and smash celebrates Nintendo's History only NES controllers and the Power Glove are available for for controllers.
Wavecheating, L-hacking, and Fox Dancing are fixed and no longer in the game
Released on Virtual Boy for best experience of 3D
Vs mode is removed in offline play so you must play wifi to play against other people. This is because offline Vs mode is a waste of time since everything is done on the internet now, it will give us more time to work on other things such as increasing the timer on Masterpieces so by 10 seconds on every masterpiece.
Also, the only wifi mode playable is the equivalent to basic brawl- this is to ensure only the mode that takes the most skill is played. To account for latency, there's a minimum of a 50 frame delay so it's balanced among most users
Music is cut from the game so people can focus on playing the game instead of being distracted
There is a "melee" mode where the only difference is you can only play as Fox
Subspace Emissary is back, but cutscenes have been removed since you can look them up on youtube.

This is an idea that i'm legitimately surprised no one has thought of:
---Toggle Air Dodge option
Directional air dodging or Spot dodging in air. Having this option might satisfy everyone
---Toggle Lag Cancel
On/Off/Auto Lag Cancel

It's so simple, and it will could destroy the feud forever.

why not both aziz m2k.jpg

A decent chunk of the game's budget would go into getting his license.
For his Final Smash, he'd fire LeFou out of his gun Hawkeye style.
