I think it'll go as someone said before. (I'd give cred, but I don't feel like digging it up) Project M is likely to become a side-event at tournies, much as Brawl+ and SSB64 are now. It's unlikely to truly replace Melee on the whole, but might in some local circles.

No ones gonna make a decision to drop melee before its out
I'm pumped for it and hope its good, but even still...
I won't be dropping melee, and hardly anyone will

It won't be replacing anything simply because of technical reasons, it's next to impossible to make an unofficial hack community standard, let alone tournament standard. If it's good, people will play it, but that won't make it exclusive.

If it's as successful as it's attempting to be, I can definitely see it becoming popular side tournament, and I can imagine some P:M exclusive tourneys (inevitably with less tunout).

On the pessimistic side, people still favor Brawl to melee... somehow, and it's not like Brawl+ made a huge impact.

Counterstrike 1.6...?

But at any rate, there's no reason the two games can't co-exist. I can play both Melee and Project M with like no adjustment needed when switching. We'll see what happens when the game's out.

Counterstrike had online though, I imagine it helped when people weren't required to gather at a specific location to play.

Don't get me wrong though, I completely agree that both games can co-exist.

i still wont care lol

sorry but lag sucks and you cant play melee with lag

well you can

but then it just gets annoying

and then your only gonna play chars that are lag friendly

in other words

no

maybe i would play it a little bit

but it could never replace melee

if there is legitimately zero difference (aside from maybe stages) from 1 game to the other, like, frame to frame everything is the same, then sure why not. i'll wrekc some sonic or mk's

Project M has online, too...
Oh cool. More people are going to become anti-social and won't be able to live to potential through the lag of which maybe to come.

No mess with near perfection. You're only bound to screw something up.

I'm gonna say this again because apparently some of you guys still think the topic title says "will project M replace melee?"

It's not trying to do that.

If you seriously think that Melee is perfect and there's nothing wrong with it, you're lying to yourself. The gameplay is perfect. Not everything.
@OP: Since PJ:M is a HACK it will NEVER be tournament standard.

'Nuff said.
Counterstrike 1.6....?

Your loss. Kage, DaShizWiz, and Hax played it at Apex and all loved it.

wtf do you have your sc2 rank in your sig

ARE U PROUD OF BEING GOLD???
You jealous cuz you ain't got one.

Which is why I said near perfect. I don't want characters being changed at all (Unless it's texture hacks cuz that's not game breaking.

yea, but i'd rather still just wanna play Melee. I'd rather not hack Brawl just so it plays like Melee. I mean, Project M is cool and all and they've put alot of hardwork into it but, i'd rather play Melee.

Kk Thanks :)

another question :

Wont we only be able to do the online with Project M owners who have the game :o

Or does this work with brawl too xD?

I'm hoping Project M had way more players than brawl playing it.

Also advertising would help this :D
