Well hey guys, I thought this could maybe be a medium to talk about rap and what was good per month. I try to listen through every album monthly although I'm a little behind since albums are long. lol

The main thing in my mind when listening is lyrical content, so if you enjoy more radio-based hip-hop you probably won't enjoy what I have to say. These are just things I've wanted to talk about somewhere but it seems hardly anyone in my actual social life even knows good rap exists. :I

Anyways, here are some things from January:

A$AP Rocky ~ LONG.LIVE.A$AP = 4.5/10

When I heard ****in' Problems, I had extremely low expectations for this album. When I heard 1Train, I sort of saw a glimmer of hope. This is a very mediocre album, which in my eyes is a nice way to say bad. At times A$AP has been able to show the ability to be a good rapper, but the commercialism is hurting him. The featured artists within the album is a fairly bad list, with some okay showings by Kendrick Lamar, Yelawolf, and Danny Brown.

Wax ~ Continue = 8.2/10

It's great to finally see Wax making a splash outside of the internet scene and making the Heat-Seekers chart. Overall this album is great, with Wax's usual intelligent lyrical value. Definitely something to listen to if you haven't. The singles seem to be sort of off-base (Toothbrush seems offputting from the rest of the album) but overall this was a really good album.

Jean Grae ~ Dust Ruffle = 7.7/10

Listen to this here

It's always great to listen to the rarity of a good female rapper. Nicki Minaj is horrible. There are a few overt sexual themes, which I usually don't find being a good rap topic for either gender, but it's okay. This album is quite reminiscent of 90's rap which is one of the reasons it is good. Overall a great album from under Jean Grae's bed.

Red Pill & Hir-O ~ The Kick = 9.2/10

Album of the year may have already been released for me now. This is a great album with rhymes with positive message and good idea. This album is very similar to things that Atmosphere would release, so I definitely recommend this. If you haven't listened to this album yet do it now. Lyrically great, thoughtfully great, production great, not going to go wrong here.

OTHER ALBUMS: (I'd recommend anything rated 7 or above)
Sho Baraka ~ Talented 10th = 6.1/10
Vast Aire ~ A Space Iliad = 6.2/10
MC Eiht ~ Keep It Hood = 6.7/10
Slum Village/Mick Boogie ~ Dirty Slums 2 = 7.7/10

Tell me what you guys think of these albums. ^_^

I like the ASap tape. It's not really lyrical, but the beats are interesting and he carries the vibe well.
I love the Wax tape. His flow is nice and he really has his own style and approach to hip hop. Real fun and laid back with alot of jam band type elements.
I ain't know Jean dropped something. I might check that out.

Nicki is ugly and sexy at the same time to me. Ugh, I just don't know. I feel like her ***** would be extremely loose haha

on another note, I think Trinidad James just gained some respect from me

I lost all respect for Jean Grae when she started talking **** to me and Suspect on Twitter.

That ***** Don't Kill My Vibe remix was done to perfection. Both Jay and Kendrick went above and beyond.

What do y'all think of the XXL Freshman 13?

Schoolboy Q
Logic
Action Bronson
Trinidad James
Dizzy Wright
Joey Bada$$
Ab-Soul
Angel Haze
Kirko Bangz
Travis $cott
Honorable Mention: Chief Keef

beat reminds me of Dela, Ybm kinda reminds me of Coss

solid track

I'm actually kinda curious what that boy ybm thinks about that new lil wayne joint haha

I Am Not a Human Being..2

anybody gonna check for that?

I never care about the freshman class. I don't know what determines your "freshman year". Dudes have all been rapping for a minute. Except Trinidad James. I heard him say in an interview he just "started" rapping like less than a year ago.

What does SWF think of Utada's R&B (esque) album "This Is The One"? What about Azealia Banks, and Kreayshawn? Personally a fan of all three.

Yeah, Japanese-American Phenomenon Utada ~

I saw Kreayshawn in concert. She was rolling ballz and I was so jelly. She also is even better live rapping than she is on her songs. All her music in concert has much sicker bass in it. I also saw Rye Rye as well. Luh her too.

Also, Azealia Banks and Lady Gaga song confirmed. No idea if it will be released though.
