ay. it's just a personal thing really. I put on Stillmatic/It Was Written on a weekly basis, I only listen to Illmatic on a monthly basis. I would probably call Illmatic a "greater" album in an objective sense but it doesn't keep me coming back as much as those two

Same with me I guess but the lyricism in Illmatic I couldn't deny lol. Had to put it first. I didn't put Stillmatic on because I felt my list would be overpowered with Nas even more than it already is.

i loved me against the world... i need to get that album in a cd.

oh, what is your guys' favorite neighborhood cd store? and what deals have you gotten?

for me, amoeba. theres one in berkeley, one in san francisco, and one in LA. the one in SF has a wayyy better clearance section. but over the times that ive went, ive gotten:

License to Ill: $1
The Don Killuminati: The Seven Day Theory: $1
Slim Shady LP: $1
Doggystyle: $3
ATLiens: $3
Funcrusher Plus: $1
Nature of a Sista': $2
Black Reign: $2
Illmatic: $4

also when you get 4 clearance items, the cheapest one is free. so i got like 8 albums for $11... forget which 8 though.

Just realized I never posted my 10 favorite albums! (Only posted 10 greatest)

1. Life After Death (yeah, I'm a Biggie fan)
2. Ready to Die (...MAJOR Biggie fan)
3. The Chronic 2001 (Dr. Dre is awesome, and he deserved every one of the 9 million sales from this album)
4. Graduation (may be a surprise, but I think Kanye was at his prime here both in rapping and in production)
5. Illmatic (I love The World Is Yours, NY State of Mind, and One Love)

Only ranked top 5 because after that there's somewhat of a drop-off. I usually don't like full albums, with the exception of the ones above. I identify with artists more than albums. So I'm gonna have to rank my favorite artists to be more accurate:

1. Biggie
2. Dr. Dre (not his rapping per se, but his production in combination with his ghostwriters and guest rappers)
--large drop off--
3. Tupac
4. Kanye West
5. Bone Thugs N Harmony (you heard me right, Tha Crossroads and 1st of Da Month are great songs and they did great guest verses)
5. Outkast
6. Wu Tang Clan (including all of the work from individual members)
7. Army of The Pharaohs (Jedi Mind Tricks + a bunch of other people)
8. Nas
9. The Game (Hate it or Love it, How we Do, Dope Boys, My Life, and Doctor's Advocate are all great songs)
10. UGK

There is something that is ALWAYS overhyped. And for me in music. It's pretty much anything Lil Wayne touches. I don't feel Cash Money/Young Money.

Baby.
Lil Wayne.
Drake.
Lil Chuckee.
Lil Twist.
Tyga. ( I've heard good things about him from respected people though)
Mack Maine.
Gudda Gudda. ( The worst one of all)
Nicki Minaj. (She is bad but she makes my peepee elevate)

This roster of people is oooooverhyped out the butthole.

A top ten is pretty tough for me but...

1.Illmatic

The other 10 aren't in any specific order

Moment of Truth
College Dropout
Reasonable Doubt
Ready to Die
Don Killuminati: The Seven Day Theory
Donuts
The Chronic 2001
OB4CL
Ridin' Dirty
Revolutionary Vol.2

Edit: Had to add Revolutionary Vol.2 because that was the 1st rap album I listened to over and over again for weeks before I was even a hip hop head.

Ode to Illmatic was on point though.

Don't like either of the OB4CL's. Don't like Raekwon.

Yeah I struggle to pay attention to dude after one song. That's lying, half a song. Only thing that persuades me to listen is the production.
