i think being effective at PKs (kicking a ball from a set spot) is significantly less important and impactful to a game to any number of individual things, including straight line speed (100 m dash), agility/dexterity (i dunno, could be anything), and endurance (maybe run a mile or something)

consider that, what, 80-90% of penalty kicks go in? how much skill can you glean from that? (that's a pretty direct analogy to resolving basketball games with a free throw shooting contest)

the only player that's truly getting tested in PKs is the goalkeeper, and it's pretty well-established that most saves in PK situations are lucky guesses

i think a 12 x 100 relay event would be legit
