Anybody getting alot of errors lately when trying to load to eshop? I keep trying to download Earthbound, and I apparently bought it, but I can't find the download anywhere, and I just keep getting kicked out. My connection is fine and I just don't even know.

Really stumped here, can't seem to find people with similar issues.

Have you checked the Download Manager in the menu when you press the home button? Otherwise, I don't know because I can't buy anything from the eshop.

Well, I finally got it to go through. It seems like I need to race through the eshop as fast as I can, HOPING it doesn't disconnect me, to download the game. I got it to work, but it spat in my face when I tried to get Mega Man X. At least I have Earthbound now.

Download manager didn't have anything before apparently, because it didn't even get the download, just the payment. Afterward, sure.

Not real happy with this development, but I'm sure it'll pass...some day.

It could have something to do with your Wii U conflicting with your wireless connection. That's what it sounds like. I remember my Wii having issues like that (it was a real pain) and I had to buy a new router all together anyhow. Though, I don't think you'll need to take that drastic approach. Changing your wireless settings could help.

Wow, so Wii U update is live. It's the big one and I'm hearing that Wii games now have off TV play capability.

Xenoblade in bed then...?

Wow, I didn't think that would happen.

I have some virtual console games I'd love to play on the gamepad.

I'm curious about how it works with the wiimote, it would be nice if anything that required pointing could be done with the touchscreen/gyroscope.

Unfortunately controls can't be mapped to the gamepad which makes me disappointed with the update.
It still requires Wii controllers. It's a shame that they couldn't just map pointer to the right analog. It might not solve every game's problem, but it's a solution to some games.

But the Wii U gamepad has a built in sensor bar at the top, so games with pointing controls still work.

Ha, I thought the same thing too. Xenoblade in bed. Damn it.

As always, the last day of the month and towards the end of the season. Typical Nintendo. I kinda expected more but eh... Whatever.

That's unfortunate, Majora's Mask and the Ace Attorney games would have been perfect on the gamepad. :(

It's harder for me to see myself using it. Maybe I could get a little dinner table and set the gamepad up on the stand.
That actually sound nice now that I think about it.

This is great since the TV I use normally is high up with no where else for it to go in the house. It makes playing Wii games on it especially terrible.
Coffee table + gamepad here I come

I had a lot of doubts on Super Mario 3D World. But after seeing the new trailer, the game looks damn amazing. I'm excited to see what else they'll reveal.

I mean, I guess. Being a kid and seeing those outfits was whatever...but now seeing Mario in a cat outfit as an adult just comes off as a bit too silly to me. I dunno. I'm old. I guess as long as they don't have Mario playing with a ball of yarn or jumping at laser pointers, I'm good.

I'm very hesitant to even touch the Wii U now that Nintendo's confirmed so many Wii U games won't offer online. It feels like they're sinking into an even deeper pit of laziness after making a console that has no where near the distinguished nature of the Wii, not launching games with it, and frankly alienating a lot of people in this online world.

Thoughts? Is it really too difficult or bad for Nintendo to at least include online on games hyped to oblivion for multiplayer prowess than many people won't be able to touch to its fullest extent...or much of any extent?

I want the Wii U to thrive, but it's like Nintendo's trying to make it fail at this point.

I do agree that Nintendo should try to focus more on online play. Right now, the only Wii U game I really see having online play is Super Smash Bros (I do not know if other current games on the system do). Why not make a new F-Zero game that features online multiplayer? They could also make a good multiplayer shooter that makes use of the Wii U Zapper, such as a Metal Combat sequel. In mine opinion, what Wii U could really use right now are some solid online competitive games--after all, gamers (in general) like to socialise.

I really like the Wii U, but unfortunately there are next to no titles on it to which I take a strong interest. Honestly, the only reason I MIGHT buy one this year is because of Sonic: Lost World and Super Mario 3D World--and once I am done with those two games, I probably will not touch the console until Super Smash Bros, Zelda Wii U (not Wind Waker HD), "X", and Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem come out.

Ironically enough, Sonic: Lost World won't feature online for the Wii U, but it will for the 3DS. Which is really leading me to believe Nintendo's rooted in selling the Wii U like the Gamecube/n64 instead of the Wii.

And I agree, no reason until the games you listed come out. I just can't see SM3DW garnering my interest when I can't even use the multiplayer as my family takes no interest in Mario and my friends would rather stay home and play COD.

I guess we're entitled to our own opinions, so I'll say that I don't buy games because they have online. I mostly buy games (especially Nintendo ones) for what it already offers outside of its online capabilities. If its online, great! An extra plus. I'll definitely say that Nintendo needs to focus more on online games for future titles, but I don't really think its the lack of online that's causing the downfall for the Wii U.

That's not really Nintendo's fault though. Nothing they can do about that really.

I'll be honest, I was never really on board with the whole online thing to begin with. Maybe it was because I was raised primarily on single player, or maybe its because I'm fairly introverted and I see video games as my "alone time" but I never really put any thought into Nintendo's lack of online support. The way I see it, if you're really looking for that in a console go pick up a PS4 or an Xbone, or just stick with PC.

Different strokes I suppose.

While Nintendo really did drop the ball on some aspects of the console, I also feel sorry for them for trying to please Nintendo fans.

They're pretty much supporting the majority of the Wii U and the 3DS on their own at this point (moreso the former).
I honestly wonder how many Wii U owners actually brushed off TW101 (which is a GOTY candidate to quite a lot of people) and still complain about games.

Probably the same amount of people who owned a GCN and brushed off all of its games because they wanted the GCN to be a PS2 but then in retrospect are all like, "Durr... where did all of these games come from?"

Truth be told, I, too, am more of a solitary gamer than a social gamer. When I was talking about online play, I was really thinking more of others than myself. Although, I do enjoy online play once in a while.

I probably will never buy a Sony or Microsoft console, simply because they have virtually no titles that suit mine taste in games.

I have considered getting The Wonderful 101 as well. The game really caught mine interest after seeing its Nintendo Direct trailer. Mine only concern right now is whether or not the game has ample replay value.

And yes, it is rather saddening to see Nintendo struggle all by themselves. Hopefully the Wii U will attain more third-party support in the future.

This is why Nintendo needs to outsource their IPs. They are way too slow at coming out with games given the lack of third party support. Outside of Retro Studios, does anyone else make games for them? Imagine if Nintendo put their trust in stupids to make a Kirby, F-Zero, Metoid, Yoshi, Wario/Waluigi games. You could have a "major" release every quarter with other games in between such as Xeno-whatever or TW101.

Honestly, the main reason I don't bother with the Wii U (outside of online and third party support) is because I feel like the games have become too stagnant. Just feels like it's NSMB, Mario Kart, Mario 3D. Rinse, repeat. As a gamer, I feel like Sony offers more. Everything for someone. Different genres, stories, eras, etc.

They've been doing so slowly. We've gotten Monster, Team Ninja, Next Level Games, TOSE, Good-Feel, and Grezzo this gen and last. The latter mostly on enhanced ports.

Monster has done its fair share. But yeah, NLG, Good-Feel, and Retro like you said are the ones that really stood out.

I haven't gotten around to getting the game due to prioritizing other games. It is definitely the next Wii U game I plan to get. There's so many games I want across 3DS and Wii U. Hence why I dropped my PS4 preorder. Sonic Lost World, Watchdogs, Rayman Legends, Mario 3D World, Pokemon X and LoZ Link Between Worlds- this is enough content for me. And of course, those upcoming indie games. I can't wait for my Shovel Knight download code to arrive in December.

But I really need to get W101.

Luckily it's plummeted in sale price. It's $10 off on Amazon already, hasn't even been a month. I'll wait for it used or cheap new.

Hmmmmmmm SM3DW looks fun but I have a feeling it will be more "hey here's 100 1-UPS so if you come across anything that would be challenging you can try all day. Challenge? Pfft nobody wants that."

Nah. It doesn't look like a cakewalk but it doesn't look THAT hard either. Can't really say much about the difficulty or challenge of the game as of now :|

But hey, there were barely (Or none) any 1-ups in the videos of the levels in the game so... there's that I guess. And hey, them water levels

It's hard to make an accurate impression of the scale of anything from just two sub-five minute trailers.

I'd be all for it if multiplayer wasn't stifled for so many. But even Super Mario 3D Land was a good level of challenge in the special worlds...or maybe I just have god awful depth perception and am having a resurgency of my SM64 days of ground pound-to-slide off the stage.

3D Land had lots of fun hard levels, but you had to painfully make your way through a myriad of easy ones before you get there, which was annoying.
