I'm just curious who you guys think will raise up on the tier list. Also, which low tiers have potential? Personally I love Game and Watch.; however, the only tournament I went to ( it's difficult with my random location ) I decided not to use him. It was mainly a lack of confidence, but I feel that many times I perform better with him than falco, since few people know the match up. He also has great priority and a relatively decent recovery. despite his many, many flaws I believe he has potential. So, I ask again, which characters in the lower tiers have potential?

Some suggestions:
Pikachu - thanks to AXE
Luigi ?

This kind of discussion should probably take place in the tier list thread

if it takes place in the tier list thread no one will read it. but for up and coming characters I can see low tiers becoming more viable because...well I dont really need to say it. but I would love to see someone counter pick another low tier against young link or against jiggs.

Not just because of the Jiggs matchup, but Young Link deserves to be above Link. He has so much more combo potential and more useful projectiles. I discovered this at Apex.

I think a fair amount of the low tiers should be rearranged, actually. BUT, remember that the tier list isn't "who's better", but "who's more likely to win tournaments".

I'm looking forward to when Ylink actually becomes the standard couunter to puff. I'm sick of seeing Hbox beat everyone, in part because they hardly know what they are doing against a top Jigs. Peole should troll him by picking up Ylink as a counter. I've seen Vanz and Axe with Young Links lately.

Hbox would probably beat other Young Links pretty easily.

The matchup is even. YL is not at an advantage, I've seen Hbox say it on the boards and Armada told me recently.

Young Link is probably at an advantage when the puff is not playing the matchup correctly though. It's probably viable vs every puff player than hbox.

well according to the way tier lists are created. I guess young link is gonna be top tier if he continues to come in first place at internationals/nationals

Yoshi is the last hyper-undeveloped character left in this game.
What? No way. Tons of characters are nowhere near their potential. What, do you think G&W and Roy are developed despite each having like 2 serious players total in their entire history?

I mean they're still garbs but its not like any of the people playing them were world beaters either...I'm sure if some super-duper amazing player came along they'd uncover a ton of stuff and revolutionize the metagame.

And hell, maybe they could even make it out of R1 pools. Anything can happen!

If a Young Link tailored his style to beat Jigs I don't think Hbox would have an easy time at all. At the very least he'd have a harder time than he would ****** there Foxes yet again.

Low tier characters can perform well based on how little the opposing player may know about the match up and how well you can use that character's tricks that other players would be surprised by making the match in your favor as well as winnable.

Most characters under Pika are underdeveloped, but they're still not going to rise much because that would require characters who are still subjectively better to go down. There would just be less of a gap in between them all, with some of the order shuffling around below link/yl.
I honestly think that GaW can be higher than he is now.

Watch is at least better than roy just on overall match-up spread, he at least keep a solid grab game against floaties that combo till mid late percents. All roy really how that's noteablely cool is doing decent vs fox/falco/falcon and I could see someone getting lucky enough to have that happen most of the tournment.

I was thinking there would be a rise in dk because I heard more and more dks pop up and rockcrock isn't bad. But didn't seem to happen.

Javi was a breath of fresh air for fox that will likly case fox to stay top

Puff won't move after seeing h-box staying that high up for so long.

Could see marth dropping due to lack of marth love and armada being 1/2 best still hoping for mango.

Random hack hype maybe kirby up? More than bowser/pichu has seen for a long time.

Other than changes in minds on low/bottom tiers very little change.

Maybe ics? If chok prove his puff tactics with fly. Wobbles did queit well.

Well, just because :younglinkmelee: won a SET, you really shouldn't put :younglinkmelee: in the top tier. He will get wrecked pretty hard by like :sheikmelee: and :falcomelee:.

I can see him moving up, but nothing that far. lol.

I really hope people had a chance to watch Hbox's Ness and Armada's YL (against fox) on Prog's stream. It really provided a glimpse of the untapped potential in these characters and helped show that hbox is pretty damn technical even if people don't see it with Jiggs.

I am not sure if Ness is worthy of moving up but his FAIR seems to be exploitable.

I honestly believe Kirby should be a few spots up, below yoshi for sure though. Definitely above Bowser at the least.

Minnesota has a kirby on their pr, and there's a really good kirby player here in wa that takes sets from high tiers.

Imo kirby has a lot more potential than most other low tiers, the only problem is that kirby can't really kill anything.

Kirby is so hard to use, but I definitely agree. Almost like a weaker version of jigglypuff. I would love to see a kirby place in a tournament.

i see fox moving down. hate me all you want for saying this, but falco is clearly the better character overall
I think fox and falco are even, I personally think it's harder to get technical with falco than fox because of his slow jump i.e. wave shinning or shield pressureing. There really isn't much of a difference, it's all based on player skill. imo

Itsharder because the timing is slower? That's a terrible arguement.

Javi made me think they were equal again.

What kind of potential does kirby have? The most recent fresh air in his metagame was rolling. Look up hack vs ice. Really besides that his metagame hasn't changed much since wavedashing being used and bair fences. I know dj nintendo made it out of pools with bowser and took a match off of sfat.

At lower levels marth is God tier get back f-smash only counter is a pocket kirby.

I really should start blocking off a lot of posters due to the raw levels of that. wtf L-cnacel less foxs don't work even at low levels cause they spam sheild grabs.

Lol, not random people. I'm talking about the other top players who he ***** consistently. However I don't think this is going to become a popular strategy because players simply aren't that concerned abut fighting Jigglypuff because of how few they are, and then they run into Hbox and get ***** smh.

Yoshi has jank, but he's really really flawed so I don't know how far he can actually go.

I think Luigi is slept on. There are more good Luigis then there are any other mid tier character. His offensive game is ridiculous, he doesn't need grabs to get **** going (unlike a number of other mid tiers), has solid finishers, good combo game, really great movement on the ground (although he gets exposed in certain matchups as a result) and he's JANK. Jank is very underrated in this game, and Luigi is just brimming with it.
