I would love to get great comrad Prostitute Love on this 'best players' list. He have won many Ukranian and Russian tournaments, even with Fox, Falco, Prof. Mario.

After watching a bit more play from PP and mango, I think you're actually right on PP being the better player. I'm hesitant to switch him with hungrybox though.
I have a really hard time with putting PP above Mango with the thrashing Mango gave PP at RoM4 and some of PP's recent tournament losses. Course I guess if Mango is really retiring it makes sense but I don't believe he's 100 percent done yet.

^Your economy aint that great. What is this anyways, top 10 countries of 2012? I think we need to stop **** riding our nations right now. They all suck in comparison to finland anyways. This goes for Mike Haggar too.

Call me when you guys have your moonbase and I'll talk about moving you ahead of finland :awesome:

Edit: wow I guessed Finland too, not sure how relevant this source is though

I prefer this list http://news.xinhuanet.com/english2010/photo/2010-07/19/c_13404124.htm :awesome:

This one seems to split them into top3 in each continent, but iirc the US is below top20 in the world list. :)

Edit: Google says the US is actually 10th there now too. Congrats :D (Norway is also above Denmark now it seems. Damn, lol :p)

Edit2: Now I found a list from 3 days ago and Denmark is back at #1 with US at #11... Lots of time wasted on this silly thing. Better stop now ;_;

The list that I believe you're referring to is pretty lulzy. Princeton (#1 or 2 in the US according to most sources) at 13, with the University of Michigan at 14? OK bro. These QS peeps have got to be brits who've never visited america before. Their methodology is whack as ****--citations per faculty member? number of international faculty? Yeah, those correlate 1:1 with how good a school is

The Times has all US for top 3, as does the ARWU. So in two (the more reliable two) of the three major ranking systems, we take gold, silver, and bronze, as well as 25 of the top 30 or whatever.

Even with your (cherry-picked) list, you have to admit that the US would win a crew battle there. we've got like 12 of the top 15. There's pretty much no argument for any other country in the world--or even the rest of the world combined--being our equals in higher education.
The US population is about that of UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy combined. You'd hope so, wouldn't you?

And UK, france, germany, spain, italy, russia, china, japan, uzbekibekibekistanstan, and the entire rest of the freaking world combined have nothing on our colleges. Give up, bro. We win.

Now if you're arguing that on a population-to-college level, the UK is equal to us and the rest of the world is a barbaric backwater where they're either spoon-fed through life like in Scandinavia or left to die unless they win the one-in-a-million lottery that is immigration to the US, then yeah, I can get behind that. You guys can be like a mini-america across the pond. Represent, lil' bro.

I'd drop mango below pp and possibly switch pp with hbox, though they're pretty even so it could go either way. Other than that I'd switch wobbles and had and your list would be pretty accurate.
then it wouldn't be his list anymore

and why is it not already accurate

who are you to say what is accurate and what is not

nobody you are

edit: and today i learned my ancestors founded the 28th best university in the world

Mango is still amazing but he also barely plays any more and its making him rusty. People are only paying attention to the last handful of tournaments rather than the whole of last year. Mango did a bit better at two tournaments but he still has a pretty negative record. PP/hbox is sort of a toss up, hbox is more consistent but PP tends to play better against top level players overall. Also my phone autocorrected hax to had. Hax is definitely the best current falcon, though s2j is on the come up, but he has a tendency to 50/50 with a lot of players. Granted they are high level players and a lot of them are west coast with crazy falcon practice but still.

If Mango barely played anything and also played with random chars but still place 2nd and 3rd when he came back. That proved he is better then everyone that placed below him at those 2 events.

Maybe I'm wrong but Mango has been top 3 at major tournaments for the last year and more except at Pound 5 where he went all secondaries. Also when going Falco he's 8-2 against PP in tournament matches. How does all this add up to a negative record? He's had one bad major tournament in the last year not the other way around as you implied.

This topic was made early, it's asking for the best players of 2012, and since 2012 isn't even half over, we can't really be making accurate lists at this point.

My assumption was that we were basing it on how they've been playing since end of last year/2012. Otherwise the title "Top 10 players of 2012" is misleading.

Mango better come back on the boards after that one.
Too bad the mods/admins won't let him. They can never think outside the box, but this site its run by kids so what can you expect. I'd say several years of being banned is more than enough punishment. I'm sure it had a small affect on his early retirement too. Perma-ban should be for attempts on crashing the site, ample amounts of porn, death threats, etc. **** is ridiculous.

^They offered to him to remove his ban and he basically told them to go **** themselves. Maybe ban wasn't originally justified but the fact that he isn't back isn't the mods' fault.

What do they expect? The length of the ban was stupid to begin with. I am one of the few that know exactly what happened.

mango would come back, he's just not the type of person to apologize for stupid **** or beg to the shidiots that have the power to unban him.

I agree that it's a little early in the year to be asking who is the best player of 2012. I'm hopeful that we see some new top players emerge, though. There's a certain lack of excitement in trying to predict the placing among a specific eight to ten players. Nothing is as awesome as seeing a player emerge from out of nowhere to rock a national tournament.

I thought he was supposed to apologize for something he did or something like that and they offered it to him in exchange for that.
Yeah, I get that, but like Ace said, what did they expect? It really sounds like they were just trying to make Mango look unreasonable, so they could justify the ban more easily.

Ridiculous. Didn't know people think mods are that dishonest.

I was against the ban in the first place, but if Mango's ego is too large to simply take the offer to come back, that's his fault, not the website's. Have no idea how people are blaming the Smashboards mods here, but I guess they're the scapegoat for everything in online communities.

It's either that, or they were being extremely naive.
