Where the dash dances/foxtrots at?

I've been noticing in a lot of videos of Marth in Brawl No one seems to do dash dances or foxtrots. It's very easy to do Marth's dash dance and I find it very useful in many situations where id run away dash dance back to do dancing blade. or do a foxtrot on one side and do an fsmash counter... I think eventually this advance technique will progress his metagame. And as soon as I find my adaptec game bridge... I will post some videos of where I actually applied dash dances/foxtrots and it actually helped me get a K.O. I'm surprised there isnt chatter or use over it. So my question is. Where is it at?

not only that but i use dash dance and then dash attack out of it. good for marth but it's also useful for meta and falco too. it's so good and fast. it's a quick mindgame. i been asking this question to myself also. i guess other players get into the heat of moment and forget they can dash dance and fox trot.

I don't really know actually... I used to dash dance all the time in melee. Tripping is definately one reason, but not the only one. Maybe if someone won a tournament or two while utilizing dash dancing and fox trotting, it would become popular again?

Even if tripping didn't exist, not being able to shield during opening dash frames + Marth's loooong opening dash frame makes this bad. Not to mention it really isn't useful at all in most situations, you could just walk instead. Walking = tilts + shield etc. still accessible

Every once in a while, I use it, but walking is a better option, as I said on the other thread about this (don't know why we have two threads on the same topic) walking is ftw.

yeaah, I couldn't agree with NEO more. the only time I could think of really using it is when your opponents have the chance to airdodge and get in a move or so to punish your lag.

You don't think Marth's have tried to break dashdance and foxtrot.

Believe me, I spent hours trying to make use of it. Only real one is a fox trot right into a stutter step f-smash, but if you screw up it ends up being a dash attack so the risk is not worth the reward.

Walking around looks stupid but at least you have way more options.

Actually, I think walking looks sleeker and is more intimidating.

I've already made a thread about this, but since this one's more active, I'll post in this one. In the other

thread I said dash-dancing might be useful, and it seems that everyones given up on it. I think we should

at least give pivoted tilts (especially d-tilts) a chance.

I know I posted this in the other thread so sorry if I'm spamming this one, but this seems pretty useful

for marth.

Dashdance really doesn't give you a huge spacing advantage anymore, couple this with fewer easily accessed options from a pivot and...well...*thumbs down*

its been proved that tripping is random. a guy hooked up a wavebird to 4 slots (same frequency 4 controllers) and picked mario on BF and did dash dances, pivots, and fox trotting, and they tripped at completely different times.

I do it, A LOT. It's very useful into fB and sometimes into fSmash. I'm uploading my videos to GameVee now since I now record at 720x480@60fps.
I'll have a lot more but you can see them here:

http://www.gamevee.com/user/ShortFuse/videos

The youtube onces come out stretched (since it's originally widescreen) and kill the 60fps with some jerk 15fps or so and looks weird. The Gamevee ones don't have synced audio so I would suggest you mute it.

I have a bunch more Marth video I'll be uploading so keep watching it if you want to see more of it.
There's also a few videos against Kirk's Ike on youtube if you look for it

I could be wrong, but Marth seems to have one of the faster walks in this game.

Running and possible tripping is unnecessary. Walking gives you more control too.

i watched one video, and everytime you "dash danced" it was either useless, or you could've easily just dashed once and it would've been safer to avoid tripping and looked less dumb

imo dash dancing randomly just looks really stupid

to anyone maining a character, it's really important IMO that they don't get caught up in all of the mostly useless technicalities. dash dancing with marth, all of that stupid wing ****/arrow looping **** with pit. none of these things make or break the character

you, myself, as well as anyone else needs to focus MAINLY on maximizing the usefulness attacks, trajectories, etc. provided and mastering them

Throw that P***y at me? B***h I think Im Babe Ruth
Lol he's right.

There's a time and place to do everything and unfortunatly dash dancing and fox trotting aren't the greatest things to do.

I find my self dash dancing and fox trotting around like a wild man every now and again  but it doesn't really give a huge advantage or anything it just makes you look faster. But it makes you look even dumber when you get hit while doing it lol.

All I'll say is if you can make it work do it but walking is a better option

But what about looking cool? It's not a good Marth if it's not a badass looking one. :chuckle:

i randomly dash dance when my opponent is near

just to make them attack prematurely

i sometimes DD mad , to get hit by my opponents , so i can quickly upB

because UPb has invincibility frames so any attack they do gets punished

but hey thats just me .

i foxtrot to pivot RAR ,

sometimes i foxtrot pivot reverse fair to bair but i have only done that twice in my life LOL

so yeah my marth does DD and pivot

I find pivoting easy, just foxtrot but instead of doing one foward, you do foward-back and then press B or A or Cstick

Tapping one direction lots of times to only play the opening dash animation. Searching isn't a Critical Hit, it's more of a Great Aether - It wont kill ya. =)
