I have arachnophobia, am home alone, and there is a spider who's body is the size of a ****ing half dollar making a web on my back patio.

Let it be said, that I am scared ****less right now. Knowing it is there and it is alive.

I am actually to afraid to attempt to kill it.

Suggestions?

take a hockey stick and beat the living **** out of it

if you don't have a hockey stick then use a broom, if not a broom get a vacuum.

Some sort of object that's more than 3 feet long.

I own a vacuum, it does not have a hose. No sports objects considering no one in this house plays sports, and no broom. We don't bother to clean outside. (We clean the floor inside with disposable sponges and paper towels)

That being said, I couldn't use the vacuum even if it did have a hose. No power outlet would reach.

That wouldn't even kill it. T_T All that'd do is knock it off its web, onto the floor, where it will crawl. And possibly take residence elsewhere around (or in) my house.

Spiders don't eat people. If it really bothers you that much, load a water gun with oil or something to that effect, and shoot it.

Poor thing, I should at least give it the courtesy of a burial in my trashcan instead of leaving it there. Nah, I find it amusing to look at its crushed corpse.

You can drive over to my place and save it if you like. I'm generally against killing things unless I have too. But no one else is home. T_T and I don't happen to know any spider lovers in my area.

Or I've been cowering upstairs. Scared to venture downstairs to the computer, which is 5 feet from the door to my patio.

I'm male, and 16. And I act like a 2 year old when it comes to spiders.

You know what's interesting? Apparently the average person eats about 10 spiders during their sleep in a lifetime. Like, by the time your a teenager, two spiders have probably already crawled down your throat and been digested while you were sleeping. Awesome stuff huh?

Also, baby spider nests are hilarious when you disturb them. Poke them with something and they freaking go nuts. I don't normally kill spiders, cause I like spiders, but one time I found this big fat one and was compelled to see what would happen if it hit a solid wall at a high velocity. So I picked it up and whipped it sidearm at the side of my house. Splattered spider guts everywhere within almost a foot radius.

But yah, no need to be scared of spiders. They can't hurt you and most don't bite at all. Daddy Longlegs are the only spiders with venom deadly enough to kill a human, but their fangs are so brittle that they can't even penetrate human skin.

So either move to some place cold, like Greenland, Iceland, or other Arctic regions, or just get a pair of shoes hold them right in front of the ******* and crush him in between the shoes. I think that it should work quite well either that or get a flame thrower, those tend to work quite well.

if insect's/spiders are removed from the planet life will slowly deteriorate and after 50 years, it will be completely gone... they're at the bottom of the food chain, we need them

Thank you Nysyarc, but you have one fact that is only partially wrong.

Other spiders have venom powerful enough to kill you, if not treated. (EG: Black Widow)

Well see without spider it is not the fact that an organism eats spiders it is the fact the spiders keep the world balanced. Without spiders, no matter how much I hate them, insects would over run the planet, wiping out most of the food, including us. The spiders help contain local populations of insects, without them the world would probably be worse.

Quoting for emphasis and so we can look at those beautiful spiders some more. Spoken like a true non-arachnophobic Teran. That's how we do. Although, another type of spider to watch out for is the Huntsman Spider (I think that's what it's called). They actually prefer to live indoors and their venom can get you pretty sick if they bite you.
