I started playing Marth back a while ago when a small time tournament actually banned Fox as a playable character. This put me in a bind since Fox was my favorite since the 64 days and of course he was a beast in Melee. Now since I hadn't really practiced with any other characters and I didn't really like Falco just yet I decided Marth was the one that I knew the most about from message board discussions. So after I won that tournament with Marth he quickly became my secondary character in Melee.

Now since Fox has declined some in Brawl I actually am liking Marth a lot more in Brawl. Which is why I have made him my main.

Fire Emblem 4 was and still is my favorite game of all time.

Unfortunately Sigurd wasn't playable, so I picked up Marth and Roy as replacements. In general I've been an FE fan since way before the US release, so they were good choices for me, and their overall playstyle fitted me.

Eventually, as I got better, I also ended up picking up the zelda/sheik combo, so those 4 characters became my Melee mains.

So, when Brawl came out, I decided to concentrate on one character and give everyone else secondary status... and my Fire Emblem fanboyism came through.

Doesn't hurt that I'm a fencer.

Probably the masculinity overflow. But seriously, I didn't really ever exactly choose him. I liked him a lot in Melee, just playing casually with friends. The sword-tipper thing was awesome, so I'd use him, though not exclusively. I also played as Zelda a lot, among others. But I just found that Marth and I worked well together. So I drifted towards him. And now he's my main. Gotta love the blue hair too.

At first my lil bro used Marth, I kept criticizing his playstyle (using info from these boards and videos) because he kept losing to me. Then just to spite him I practiced for a few hours and beat his Marth with mine, I've been working on improving my Marth to be a strong alternate ever since. Plus his high-precision playstyle is a refreshing change from my usual Fox-flurry every now and then.

When Melee come out and I realized my previous main Kirby got nerfed to hell, I started looking through the roster for a new character. Actually, I hate all the Nintendo characters and have never been able to fathom why legions of people are so enamored with a bunch of cardboard cutout mascots with absolutely no distinctive character or development. I'd heard of Marth in the rom translation community at the time and was surprised to see him in the roster, so I just went with him since I didn't really like anyone else. I stuck with him because I like fast characters and the only other sword user was slow as hell.

His deep blue eyes just seem to suck you in...
I also use him because I liked him in melee =] (and to prove that Roy sucks to all my friends D< )
He's seriously awesome ^_^

Marth has no gimmicks, no cheap strategies. How good someone is with Marth is based purely on skill. He's for purists.

And anyone who gives me crap about that first sentence can compare him to any other character and know it's true.

Ya, true, played snake at the beginning, figured out he was super broken, decided I needed to find a new main, and then i searched the roster and then I found Marth and loved all his attacks, and just the way his sword moves and flow with all of his attacks. l also like how his sword glows, its cool.:)

*edit Marth has one semi-cheap strategy in the infinite grab release against Ness and Lucas, but you don't have to rely on that to beat those characters.

always like ppl w/ swords, and the fact marth is is pretty mobile in air, and mixture of fast and slow attacks, and the variety that u can get with marth, such as even the simplest attack has 2 hitboxes, and different knockbacks, SO much room for improvement with any marth, and of course, the epic ken combos and he comes from an aWESOME game

I decided that Crap-tian Falcon wasn't for me. His playstyle was ridiculously sick, and his manly tiara kept me interested.

There was Link in SSB64...
Then he got slow and I had trouble beating anyone ever...

I picked Marth at random, fell in love with his speed and combos, and then it was on.

I always used Fox in N64...till Melee came out, I really didn't like the changes. Somehow I got hooked on Marth in Melee and still with him now...I just got to get use to the different length of his sword :(

The Counter is what lured me in.

That, and Marth is the girliest Nintendo character ever. Yes, that means girlier than Peach. Lawl.

I have a plan to master all of the female characters of Brawl. Since Marth is one of those...

But seriously, I like a quick swordsman, Link and Ike don't suffice, and Meta Knight just isn't for me.

back in the melee days i played a good link but my friend kept destroying me with roy. i was an inexperienced player he was too but he was better than me. i came across marth. i was scared to use him because my friend told me he was way weaker than roy. i read the ssbm guidebook and i found out that he could spike and hits harder with the tip. so i practiced with day after day. my friend still destroyed me but then i got better and better when i finally beat him. i was so happy. from then on i never stoped playing with him because i kept owning. that's why marth will always be my main.

But seriously, I was tired of getting my *** handed to me as Ganon by Marth's beastly spacing, so I decided to pick him up in my mad quest to find a secondary. I like him a lot so far, but I don't know if I'm going to stick with him or not. Time will tell...
