There were a few select moves I really liked in melee although they were almost useless

Downsmash
Upsmash
Dancing Blade
Counter
Shield Break

I loved these moves but they weren't very good. So I don't main marth in melee . But barlw gave these moves an up grade so that's what got me to play him in barlw...even though I don't reallly play the game cuz melee is bettah : D

I mained Roy because of the fire.
When I learned how sucky he was, I thought about trying out the higher tier characters, though I hated them.
Marth was easy to use.
I got hook'd.

And then Falco.
My friend was coming, and he mained Fox, so I tried out Falco.
This was BEFORE I knew he was dominating.
He was easy to use.

To this day I main Falco, Marth, and Captain Falcon on Melee AND Brawl.
They've just stuck to me.
And sometimes Roy and Fox (or in Brawl's case Ike and Fox).
Wolf is not as much fun as Fox and Falco are.
He's cool, but he doesn't have great throws.
BUT, when I DO use him, he rocks.

In Smash64, I could play with any character, and I played with all twelve, though I think mostly with Ness. I was non-competitive back then.

Melee came. I bounced around tremendously, only became competitive in the last year of Melee (before Brawl) and Marth was my main in the time.

He's grown on me so much since then, I can definitely say he'll forever be my Brawl main, though I play lots of characters.

Mostly Ken. Before my enlightenment of wavedashing and shffling, I used Ganon and Sheik.

Then i looked up pro games of ssbm and found Ken, and I bowed and worshiped and folowed in his footsteps.

(later, M2K was inspiration)

Ike's blue too.
Ike and Lucario they're my secondaries, how'd you guys know?

AHM BLUE. A DABADEE DABADAI.

Lucario's blue, too! D:

Anyways, I originally liked Marth because of his elegant flow about him and his incredible reach and quickness.
Sorry to say but, That's what she said!

Honestly though I wanted to play Roy in melee, and my brother said he'd already "Clamied Roy" so he made me play Marth. An hour later he gave up playing the game ever again because he couldn't beat my Marth.

Tha'ts funny about "claiming" the chars.

When me and my brothers were younger, we would partition all of the characters amongst ourselves.
My little bro got stuck with all the gay chars and me and my older bro got the good ones.

I remember how serious we were with our chars. It was considered a huge taboo if one of us even picked someone elses character even for 1 match. I never used Mario for 3 years after the game came out. Even if it was at a friends house. After about 3 years, we got older and realized what a stupid rule that was.

Lol, memories...
