Games where you generally have to spend a lot of time grinding suck. Including WoW, Run,escape, RoM, Pokemon, etc.

I dunno... it was for me for a while, and then I got tired of it. Its best incarnation is probably stuff like battle.net; you know, the instant lvl100 with EV setup how you choose battle stuff.

I tried playing through Pearl recently and I just got utterly turned off by random encounters. Ironically, I had the patience to endure them when I was in middle school, but can no longer stand them. Perhaps it has to do with my time becoming too valuable to spend grinding. Or watching the the rest of the RPG genre actually progress past this stupid function while the Pokemon series stubbornly clings to outdated mechanics.

In any event, I might play silver/gold with some codes to set random encounter rate to 0 unless I'm holding L/R, and then set experience gain to 1.25-1.5x or something. I'll drag this game into the modern era whether it likes it or not.
