Happy Bay Andre!!! :D

Also Vlade maybe. Lol. Just woke up so it might be a little late. I guess if I left nowish I could get there 12:30 which would mean 3 and a half hours.

I vote one of the North vs South events to be Poker/Mahjong

Don't think anyone knows how to play Mahjong but Poker will be fun (and Jesse or Andre will win lol)

Andre!!!

お誕生日おめでとう!
He said "He's going to bomb the crap out of your Northern State" :p

Not sure how team poker would work, though lol... Regardless, it doesn't matter if people don't know how to play, they will learn if they want to compete (put it this way - I would be very shocked if ALL of one team were pros at anything and ALL of the other team had no idea what it was :p Very very very very unlikely...) Plus, if there's enough notice for each event (see below - Event Scheduling or something) then it'll give the knowledgeable people some time to teach the others...

Anyway, here's what I've got as a rough rough draft for the NvS thing... If anyone's got any comments/questions/amendments/additions, speak up quickly before the trolls come in :D Note: I haven't developed a scoring system yet, but I would imagine it'd be pretty straightforward - 1 point for a win, no points for a loss... And rules regarding forfeiture and stuff I guess would be event dependant... So that's why most of the stuff below is pretty general xD

--------------------------------------
NORTH VS SOUTH COMPETITION

OBJECTIVE: To see which side of the river is the better, using various team-based events.

SCHEDULE: At least one event per month, held on a Sunday. The first event will be Laser Tag (or so I assume given all the discussion), and then each subsequent event will be decided upon by the losing team of the previous event.
[If the first event is Laser Tag and you guys want to come to Dark Zone, then I’ll have to be here to get cheaper prices. I’m going away from the 5th-20th of January though, so keep that in mind. Alternatively, you can have it while I’m away and pay full price, but it’s up to you.]

EVENT SCHEDULING (done by the losing team):
- Losing team has the responsibility to decide on an event, decide on the amount of competitors per team for that event, and the Sunday on which it is held. They are responsible for booking anything that needs to be booked, as well as acquiring any equipment necessary unless the other side has access to that equipment.
- The event must be held within one month (four Sundays) of the previous event.
- Failure to organise the event will result in a technical win for the other side, and the one month time limit for the next event will be reset.
- There should be like a set amount of notice for each event, like the event and date/time has to be officially announce one week before the day or something, so that people can learn how to do stuff and arrange their teams before the event...

EVENT RESTRICTIONS:
- Cannot be Super Smash Bros. (if we were going to play Brawl, we may as well have a tournament, no?) [Considering extending this to “Cannot be video games”, but I’m not sure that’s in the spirit of the competition and thus would like to get better feedback on that first :p]
- Must accommodate teams (either an actual team game with a number of people per side, or an individual game where the scores/results are combined somehow to form a team score/result).
--- INDIVIDUAL EVENTS must not have the same person playing twice in the team unless agreed by both sides. For example, if the game was Badminton Singles, Vlade would not be allowed to play more than once for his team unless both teams agree. This prevents teams from abusing one member’s skills.
- Teams for each event must consist of AT LEAST 4 people total, but cannot exceed the amount one side can produce
- Must not be too expensive (limit of $30 or so?)

PLAYER/TEAM RESTRICTIONS (if any):
- They must have attended at least one Brawl tournament (this will stop people from inviting random strangers to play for us – we started the argument so now we should have to settle it :p)
- If a team is to have “reserves” on the day of the event, it must be agreed upon by both sides beforehand. Of course, this will mean that the other side can have the same amount of reserves if they so choose :p

ORGANISATION:
- I would be happy to “host” this competition on the Boards (by hosting I mean managing a thread on the FFFF Boards to keep everyone up to date on the competition and keep it moving along), but if someone else has more experience and would like to take the reins I would still like to see a separate thread for this away from the Perth thread (given how quickly the Perth thread moves)...

AMENDMENTS:
- Like tournaments, any of the rules can be changed/added/omitted if both sides agree...
-----------------------------------

Once I get some feedback I'll make a 2nd draft, with more formalities like proper paragraphing and omission of colloquialisms :p

NORTH VS SOUTH COMPETITION

this objective is nul and void. I am north. north wins. gg.

on another note, i would prefer it if people called me Rick or Eisen rather than Techno being Techno is an old alias of mine. also the fact i'm not really used to having a nickname of any form. the only nickname i've ever had was Grr.. it either resembled another old alias of mine or because i rage fairly hard. i know Technodeath is my forum name and people only know me by Technodeath most of the time, but i'd prefer the two i've mentioned. it was Mostly likely have to be Eisen due to the fact Ric/Richard/7 has probably claimed the name >_>

Rick / Eisen. you choose.

Jesse told me not to use force or anger in this post. "Just b Smooth" or something like that he said.

if i must i'll go and make another account just to stop confusion between the three Alias's im known by.

ALSO. my brother is a ****ing **** **** piece of **** spilling coke on my floor and doing a half ***** job at cleaning the **** up ****

What's wrong with some individual events, and just the winning player claiming the win for the team? Like, have 8 man poker table, last man standing wins the event for his team.

Because one person being good at something is not a good representation of the team, and we'll get people whinging when it happens... Case and Point: Rocky... We all know basic statistics - the higher the sample size the more accurate the mean...

Plus, if we have an 8 man poker table, it's a free for all... I would much rather play proper FFA poker than develop some sort of team game for it :p But, that's my opinion - if everyone else thinks it's a good idea to do FFA poker for one of the events, then don't let one person stop you :D

So North guys who's in?
Well, since it's going to be a series of several events, I reckon we should create a pool of players for each side that we can add to later, just so we know who's affiliated with what side and then we can pick and choose who we want for each event (or have tryouts if you're REALLY organised, but I'm too lazy for that **** xD)

I know South has:
Me
Marty
Marty's friend Dean
Graeme
Bob
Babbs?
Mic (I think he's South?)
Jon (Jesusface)
Sean (Fractal)
Andy
Pete
Marx
Marx's Friend (Ben?)

North has:
Rick (if he wants to come down from Gero :p)
Kane
Trill
Richard
Sam
Alister
Andre
Trav
Glenn?
Alex?
Alzi
Jupzon

Anyone I forgot??? Pretty even numbers :p

idea for a competition: karaoke night.
We appoint a judge who decides who has a better general level of karaoke skill,

Laser tag first is our best option it's what started this and everyone agrees on it. I'd say counter picks ahould have a certain way to tell who won like sports, I'd imagine it would be hard to find an unbiased judge for karaoke who'd want to listen to us sing :p Alternatively singstar coudl be the judge.

Alright let's get some team names going! Or we could just have north and south.

EDIT: Also, who's actually going to whine about someone winning a meaningless game of fun?
>Looks East<

Lol lol lol Singstar competition :p I would be trying to avoid that like the plague xD If it was Guitar Hero 4/5 then sure, at least that has some good tracks on it :p [I say this after playing Singstar once, over 4 years ago, and having to listen to people try to sing the Veronicas.... *shudder*...]

Another thing though - if someone is going to counterpick something like a video game then the losing team needs to tell us under what conditions the game is to be played... With Singstar, for instance, they'd have to come up with a list of Songs to be played through... With a fighting game, you'd need to let everyone know how many wins to get the match, time limits, etc... I'll add that to the next draft under Event Scheduling :D

With Laser Tag, though, if we go to Dark Zone I suggest we book a Lockout (I'll check prices later) and have 8-10 per team and play 2 normal games (one hour) and tally the scores for both games;

OR (and this is my preferred option :D) we book a 9pm-1am session for $30 per person (which is also private), and play a few League [team kill on, reloading, penalty scoring, etc.] games for fun to learn how to play it before playing two PROPER NvS League games for the competition, and then finish up what time we have left to play some friendly games of the other formats :p The latter option will definitely be more expensive, but we'll also get 4 times the gametime, be able to play a proper League style format for the NvS (more competitive, no luck involved lol), also allow people to learn how to play before the actual match and also have time for some of the other non-standard games...

If we could get our act together really quickly, I'm free this and next Sunday (27th Dec and 3rd Jan respectively), but I fear getting many people to make it that early might be a bit difficult (we need at least 16 people to have a 9pm-1am session)... I'm only going away for 2 weeks, so I'll be back on the 20th, and we can organise it for the last Sunday of January (the 31st)... We could also do it on the 24th, but I would be getting outta there before 11pm as I have to get up amazingly early on the 25th :p

Mic is North,Jupz...

Anyway, since it's further away, and we were planning on doing it for Pete's Bday as well, let's work for Laser Tag on the 3rd of January - 9pm to 1am ^^ I need to know a few of days in advance so I can book it, so I'll say as a cutoff I need definite numbers by the 29th December (which is the day I'm conveniently working, too :D)

Who can attend??? And is everyone happy with playing at the Willeton Zone store???
SOUTH
Me
Pete

NORTH
Trav
Mic
