I say long drive > day at the beach > food > long drive home. No need to call up anywhere :D

Day trip it is lol. It would be far too late to secure a spot at a camp site. Where is good?
Rye beach sucks really bad. As does the beaches close to Rye like Dromana/Rosebud/Sorrento. Otherwise the actual area is okay.

Besides the close-by beaches like Chelsea (my personal fav <3) I found the best beaches to be along the Great Ocean Road. Lorne/Torquay/Apollo Bay is my suggestion.

If we aren't going to a beach and people have other ideas then post something dommit.
