The nerds/outcasts getting the hot chick has always kinda bothered me in movies and anime

That they can get any girl they want, regardless of their looks

A few of my friends actually have this sort of mindset.
That they can get a "Edward Cullen" or "Hayley Williams" to fall in love with them if they just believe in themselves and hold the hope

When they are severely lacking in the looks department



Looks play a heavy role in whom people choose to and not date. Denying this is rather foolhardy.
Obviously, looks aren't everything in a successfull relationship, but they do play a large role to kick things off.


For instance, to suggest this to be a common place scenerio for parties is something I highly doubt

Attractive people date other attractive people while lesser attractive people end up dating lesser attractive people
Because most people tend to aim for what's considered their level, their tier so to speak, and keep it at that.

Where an A Tier individual will date predominantly in the A and B Tier category with the every so often C Tier managing a spot
Same seems to apply to those on the lower end, D Tier, dating those who fit their appearance



Yet, there are those who hold that ideal belief that despite them being in F Tier, they'll somehow manage to score that S Tier beauty they've had their eyes on for the past 2 years

Holding an unrealistic viewpoint that they'll somehow defy all odds to get that "creme of the creme" girl
Lusting for such a girl is obviously human nature, but expecting her to fall head over heels for a guy that is a ol' pizza face McJoebob, heavy on the toppings, is completely unrealistic

And it bothers me so because of how their unrealistic desires only brings about lowered self-esteem to people who are lucky to have any

The other day at Denny's, my friend kept eyeballing this girl that was a set A Tier when he's barely making D Tier
When her and her sister got up to leave, he tried to plug in his best pick-up line, but got insta-shot down when she almost ran past our table to avoid him.
As much as I love to laugh at his misfortunes, I couldn't help but feel sorry for how he's trying to aim so high up when he should be shooting for someone on his own level

Where he's practically in a 90:10 MU where he can't counterpick and the stage won't do jack
To where there ends up being absolutely no point in aiming to win the sexiest girl ever when you don't got the tools to even compete with the top Tiers

Honestly, a D tier individual (maybe not an F tier) has a chance with an A or even S tier if they just bother to learn the Match-up.
Your friends mistake was using a poorly spaced pick-up line approach. Those A tier ladies have probably seen that approach a thousand times and went straight into auto-pilot, opting for an Airdodge>pivot>dash>moonwalk evasive manoeuvre.

Don't get me wrong, looks are indeed important, but looks alone won't interest a women or even men for long. Personality is key. Walk tall with head held high, dress well, project confidence. Non of that pick-up line crepe, get people talking with intriguing statements that are unpredictable.

Kudos to guys dating women out of their league/punching above their weight.

Honestly, ive been told im a B tier, A at most, but i have a poor self image and think of myself as a D tier, so i already have the mindset that i cant get an A tier and aim lower. Some are A tier, know it, love it, and take advantage of it all day. Some are F tier but think they are B tier because no one will tell them that they aren't.

Attraction for a girl is much different from attraction for a guy. For example, when guys see girls, they almost instantly know how attracted they are to the female, in a short few seconds. This is because guys' attractiveness towards women is based on physical attributes, mainly. It's genetic hardwiring...I'll explain in a second.

For a girl though, notice how they are the ones to "choose" the guys? And they always have to get to know you before they date you, lots of times before they even do anything with the guy...Yeah, this is because the way a girl is attracted to a guy, is if he has the personality traits she is looking for. Looks don't matter nearly as much to a girl as they do to a guy.

A good ratio is, for guys, 20% of the attraction is personality, the other 80% is based off looks, and for girls it's flipped. 80% personality in the guy, and 20% looks.

Why?

Goes back to caveman days. The important things back then were staying alive, and producing offspring. (Survival and Replication, still our 2 main goals as humans) In terms of the staying alive part, the males in the tribes, which were small tribes back then, not only hunted for food, but were also in charge of fending off other tribes or enemies. Hence, women were attracted to the strongest males that were able to protect and hunt the best.

Nowadays, that translates not to the "strongest guys," but the "leader of the group" so to speak. In college and high school and even middle school, girls are attracted to the leaders of the the social groups. It's been hardwired in since the caveman days. It also translates to other things like confidence, the ability to protect loved ones, (Not so much having a good job to pay the bills, but more along the lines of being very decisive with their decisions, and very reassuring) Other things factor in like humor, spontaneity, (Mainly cuz women live in the moment, and want to experience a wide variety of emotions, unlike most men).

Now, as for guys to women...The guys did the "surviving" so what they were looking for was to produce offspring, carry on their legacies and pass down their teachings. They naturally chose the most physically attractive women, (facial symmetry, large breasts=healthy offspring) to have the highest chance of producing strong, healthy offspring. And if the girl was female, she would be attractive to other men.

So, even though the op probably thinks he's right haha, and it is a common misconception, it's actually very very possible for "ugly" looking guys to get hott girls.

I would normally agree, but then I remember that I have personally experienced the "nerd gets the hot chick" deal.

I don't think of myself as being a particularly attractive male, and I'm on this site so it's safe to assume that I'm definitely a nerd. Sure, I have other non-nerdy hobbies, but I'm still the pale, glasses-wearing, video-gaming nerd.

Still, with all that going against me, I managed to date - who I believe to be - the most attractive female in my school for a year. We really clicked personality-wise, and that's what did it. I think females are usually much less shallow than guys, and in fact, a lot of girls go for the "nerdy guy." Some girls like that kind of thing.

Oh, and on top of that, I didn't even initiate the relationship.

Following what you've said, a D Tier (even with huge MU knowledge) will fail more often than win

Wherelse a B Tier individual with the same MU knowledge will have a much easier time scoring an A Tier

I can't say I particular agree with the ratio with women and men
Both search for looks

Although many women look for a strong personality in men, they don't look for it in a guy that's ugly to begin with
They search for it in attractive males that rank higher

Obviously, I accept the probability of a F Tier guy scoring an A Tier women
But the probablity is very low and lacking so much on a consistent level, that I continue to percieve that higher Tier people end up dating high Tiers while lower Tiers can't hope to compete


There are low Tier "heroes" often shown in movies and even RL scoring the S tier chick
But I very much compare that to what's seen in Smash

It shows it's possible, but the lacking consistency for the rest has me believe otherwise in altering my view on this particular matter

Well, it's true that sex out of wedlock is more accepted now, and it's also true that there are religious people who target homosexuals for discrimination. But in all honesty, I've met tolerant religious people, and I think it comes down to a personal choice. A person can choose to follow a doctrine as interpreted by someone else, or they can make their own interpretation. And I've seen people take things from their religion that I would have not expected, being an outsider.

I know it's easy to make snap judgments on people, especially when they are a part of a larger group identity, but just because he's Christian, it doesn't mean he's torturing himself. Some people don't get laid until their late-20s. Some people don't start dating until that point. And it's definitely not just the Christians.

Or maybe I just know a whole lot of socially maladjusted people. Actually, that might be it.

It's rather bothersome when people group your entire "religion"

Personally, I have qualms with how "Christians" approach being gay as well as the entirity behind it
I don't think being gay is a problem


For the second part, I could care less for sex
It's not what I look for in a relationship, mostly because of how critically I view it
My being christian hasn't pushed my mentality to "do not want" but rather find deeper meaning behind
From my secular view, I once saw sex as the most disgusting thing, but now I view it as an incredible experience that I don't wish to dampen with some random chick I'll only see for a few months just cuz she "got dat ***"

So for me, I'm hardly "torturing" myself by not being a hounddog
