Here's one I've been thinking about for a while;
Smash Bros. came about through the combined efforts of Iwata and Sakurai. Now after last week's incredibly sad news, and Sakurai's declining health many are considering there may not be a new Smash for the next console.
The unpopular opinion: Smash can, and should, continue without them both.
Sakurai and Iwata have set all the ground work. A Smash game that hasn't been worked on by Sakurai will not automatically be dreadful, it might not exactly be the same, but it doesn't automatically be awful.
Heck, it's not like Sakurai's always done things everyone has universally loved; tripping, SSE fanbase split, clones, getting rid of the Break the Target minigame for whatever reason, Smash Tour, cut vets, some feel SSB43DS was a waste of dev time, amongst others.
Smash can and should frankly continue even if Sakurai decides he's done for good. It didn't stop Kirby continuing on without him, why should Smash stop?
Considering that Super Smash Brothers has probably overall generated the most amount of avenue for Nintendo between the games, the DLC, the amiibo line(gotta collect em all), the Gamecube Smash controller and, if you can find it, the Gamecube adapter, it seems like business suicide to discontinue one of your most successful and popular franchise because the men behind it's conception are gone or too ill to be as involved as before.
