From what I understand these are both very popular opinions.

I suppose so. I wasn't too sure about the Wario one though. Most people seem to like his current moveset. But looking back, most people still would like Toon Link to stand out more. Seeing as he has so much to pull from.

If you're referring to the original Mario Party on the N64, then sure. That game is more competitive than anything.
I think Tic-Tac-Toe is more competitive than Smash. That has GOT to be an unpopular opinion. At least Tic-Tac-Toe is balanced, Sakurai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really, go for three corners first, and you can never lose, only win or draw.

I wouldn't mind if Miis got in as playable characters. Though I neither fully support them nor am I against them. I can see why Nintendo would include them. And they'd help the game sell better.

I'd just be more surprised if Nintendo didn't go this route then if they didn't.

Yeah, tic tac to is broken.

The person that moves first, if they know what they are doing, can ONLY win or tie.

The person going second can only tie the game. The only way the second player can win is if the first player doesn't know what they are doing

Oh man the reminds me of a movie I watched once. A old movie. At the end this kid had to make a super duper smart computer over heat by playing Tic-Tac-To against it because it is impossible to win at that game, only come to a draw every single time. I forget the movies name however.

That is why you play "Rock, Paper, Scissors" (another more balanced game than Smash) to decide who goes first.

See, the problem with rock paper scizzors is that there will always be at least a millesecond or two discrepancy between when people put out their fingers, allowing for unfair play.

This is true, the one thing that I have learned on Smashboards... nothing is balanced.

Here is another unpopular opinion I have after watching Evo 2013 (Smash).
It is rational to ban items for no apparent reason; however, infinite combos are allowed at the "highest" level of play. SMH.

Fighting games where both characters have the exact same stats and moves are balanced

What is this thread doing?

My unpopular opinion: I wouldn't mind Miis as long as they had an interesting moveset and aren't villager 2.0. Or more accurately, Game and Watch 3.0

Ridley's massive amount of support does not make him a "shoo-in." He had that in Brawl as well and all he got was a boss battle

-Considering the amount of nerfing that would be required to make Ridley playable, I'd much rather they just leave him a huge, fast boss character or hazard

-Even considering Mii's importance to Nintendo, I hate the idea of them being playable... mostly because I hate their voices.

-It was stupid to not include a Golden Sun character in any Smash game, and if they miss this one too, I think Nintendo has given up on the franchise.

-"Clone" characters or semi-clones aren't a problem if their movesets have significantly different ranges/knockbacks.

I really don't want Namco's rep (assuming they get one, since they are working on the game) to be a Tales character. Not only do I dislike the series but the last thing we need is another sword character.

Although if they got a caster from the series into the roster to diversify the game I would be okay with that.

No they aren't, some people (especially new players) are better at one side of the screen (usually facing right) than the other, as they often have trouble reversing the inputs. :awesome:

- I don't want the inclusion of Miis mostly because they are a representative mascot of the most extreme degree of casual play (Wii Sports) and may discredit the appeal of SSB4 to potential newcomers

- I also don't think the Mii should be included because the Wii generation already has a technological representative in Wii Fit Trainer (G&W= G&W handheld, ROB=SNES, WFT=Wii)

- However, I would support Miis in SSB4 if there was little marketing of them. It'd be a stain on the franchise to market Miis as a crux for SSB4 fighters

- I don't think this thread about unpopular opinions should delve into arguments about why others' opinions are stupid/wrong/illogical/etc as it clearly has...

- Sakurai's tyrannical control over Smash Bros and intransigent approach to fan requests (characters, tweaks, engine changes, graphics, modes, styles, etc) will lead to fan dissatisfaction and possibly alienate fans

- I prefer the less-technical aspect of Brawl, it makes it feel like more of a beat-em-up fighter as opposed to tactical/strategic puzzle fighting game

- I think ROB is a great, unique character who is also extremely important to Nintendo history and ROB shouldn't be cut

- Melee is overpraised by people who hop on the bandwagon simply due to 1) conformity and 2) its use as a competitive tool. This also leads to aversion for Brawl when, although without technical aspects or speed, Brawl just as competitive among friends

I have an impossible dream where the Brawl and Melee wars can come to an end and we can all agree that SSB4 is the best game in the series when it comes out. It's not gonna happen, but I wish that it would...

-This thread makes me worry for smash 4

-This game will be very exciting to watch, but will be as easy as Brawl.
(Due to faster gameplay than Brawl)

-I hoped this game would be basically Project M but perfected and with the dream team cast.

-I hoped they cut/redesign all clones, and limited every game series to three characters max. (Except Zelda and Mario)

Reason:
1. Brawl was easier to follow what was going on, while Melee you had to comprehend the skill level to be able to enjoy it at the competitive level.

2.Melee was great because of two skill levels you could play it at. If they did a Melee 2.0 with Brawl's fluidity I would be absolutely grateful for that and thank based Sakurai.

3. Clones have no business being there. Especially when the games differ like Ganon and C. Falcon.(What they did with Mario and Luigi was perfect. Fox/Falco had the right idea.)
and because it would expand interest and variety in between the playable characters. (Because those are their main series)

  1. I would rather have Viridi than Palutena
  2. I would rather have Stanley the Bugman than K. Rool or Dixie
  3. I would rather have Byrne than Ghirahim

-Kirby doesn't need any newcomers.
-Star Fox doesn't need any newcomers.
-Dixie Kong is more likely to get in than K. Rool.

-I think Jigglypuff and Toon Link are wastes of character slots
-I think Simon Belmont should be treated like a 1st party character when considering character slot eligibility even though nobody even mentions him
-I don't want Chrom or Lucina to be the new Fire Emblem reps
-I actually want to be surprised with some character choices that people aren't demanding
-I think people that are suggesting 1 dimensional characters like Little Mac and Balloon Fighter are completely misguided
-I think Isaac has more of a right to be in the game than Geno, Palutena, Dixie, Shulk, or Anna

I think that Spyro, as long as he's not the one from Skylanders, would be amazing.
I also support Nowi from Awakening.
Pac Man and Little Mac are bad ideas.
Pokemon Trainer should not return.

Let me throw my two cents in.

-Mario, Pokemon, and maybe Zelda all deserve to have 5 playable characters
-Bowser Jr. isn't a very likely character in my eyes.
-Even though SMRPG is one of my favorite games, Geno would be an awful character to add.
-My most supported Zelda newcomer is Tingle
-Pokemon Trainer, Squirtle, and Ivysaur should all be cut and Charizard should his own character.
-Lucario deserves to stay alongside Mewtwo, due to his popularity alone.
-Jigglypuff needs to go (sorry Jiggly fans, but she's just not as significant as she used to be).
-Even though I support just about any DK rep, I don't see Dixie Kong happening any day soon.
-Metroid may very well not get any new characters, much to my dismay.
-Kirby's Epic Yarn deserves to be represented in any way outside of a playable character.
-Fox and Wolf deserve to stay, but Falco needs to go.
-F-Zero is perfectly represented with Captain Falcon alone, but I wouldn't mind seeing a new F-Zero character added.
-Lucas won't be cut.
-Earthbound isn't a complete franchise, and I feel Porky would be the best character to add to complete it.
-I hate Chrom and am completely, 100%, against his inclusion.
-I don't think Roy will be returning.
-Hades and Medusa will never be playable.
-Palutena and Magnus have an equal chance at being playable.
-Pikmin has the perfect amount of representation in SSB4 right now.
-Villager is the only Animal Crossing character we'll ever need for Smash, and Tom Nook would be a horrible addition.
-I see Mii becoming a playable character, which terrifies me to say the least.
-R.O.B deserves to stay because he is extremely important to Nintendo's history, possibly more so than Mario.
-Takamaru seems like a pretty redundant character due to his similarities to Marth.
-Sukapon and Mach Rider are the only retros I support for SSB4.
-Snake will not be cut.

Sorry for the wall of blue text, I just wanted get that all off of my chest.

I can't believe this is unpopular but here it goes.

* Smash 4 should come out July at the earliest.
