-Melee will over shadow everything sakurai ever does. It's kind of sad really. It's his magnum opus, the one people will remember him for, and it seems to me that he doesn't really like melee that much.

Sakurai has stated that he feels Melee is the sharpest game in the series. So he does like it a lot.

And people don't remember him for Melee in particular. In the end, more people actually own Brawl, as it's the best selling game by far. In reality though, most people just value the series as a whole. And to go deeper, people are generally attached to whichever Smash game they grew up on, or were able to follow the hype for. Others might remember him for his other creations too.

-Smash 4 is going to be brawl 2. I've already seen hitstun canceling in the direct. This is bad news. On one hand nothing is final, on the other one were mad close to the launch of the 3ds version. I don't expect such large revisions this late in development, and we already know not to expect large differences between the two versions.

Except, y'know, we can't be sure if it's even hitstun cancelling. Most likely isn't though, because, as many people have pointed out, characters have a dust cloud trailing behind them while they're in hitstun. And you'll notice that when said cloud dissapears, only THEN are they able to dodge.

I thought they should have had dlc in the form of mini smash games for other companies. Have HR contest, break the target and basic battle. Once you beat the first two with a character it would unlock in smash bros.

-Tom Nook should've been the AC rep
-Rhythm Heaven doesn't need any representation
-Pac-Man and Bomberman are the only 3rd party characters I feel the series could use at this point
-The games should have different character rosters. With the WiiU version coming out after the 3DS, you would think that the time in-between would be used to add more characters
-We will not get a roster over 50

Jigglypuff is so unique and important to the meta game though. That overshadows being "just another" Pokemon character.

Haha yeah it's an odd opinion, but the way I see it saying that Yoshi doesn't count as a Mario rep is like saying Luigi doesn't as a Mario rep.

If there are 6, I would like Mewtwo to return, but part of me wonders if Sakurai will bring back Ivysaur instead

But y'know? If he brings back Ivysaur instead of Mewtwo, sure, I'd be upset for a while. But I think Ivysaur is also extremely fun to play, so I wouldn't mind him coming back, either.

I think that it would be very odd to bring back Charizard and Ivysaur for the Gen I pokemon. That is just super random.

Trust me, I agree. I suppose this is a way for me to mentally prepare for any disappointing scenario in which Mewtwo does not return. I see Puff's return as inevitable, and so the question for me becomes, "will there be a 6th Pokemon?" And if there is, will Sakurai troll me and bring Ivysaur back?

While Chrono would be awesome, I think Pac-Man is more iconic to Namco.

I don't understand why people want Pac Man so much. I can't remember the last time he actually felt relevant, especially to Nintendo history. The only 3rd party character that deserves it is Mega Man.

- Anyone who doesn't want Ridley as a fighter should just refrain from playing videogames as a whole.

I'm disgusted at the amount of Ridley hate on this thread...also midly disgusted at the Sonic hate.

This is an unpopular Smash 4 opinions thread, so i let everything out. Also, i am also sad to see the Sonic hate here, but that's everywhere so im used to that by now. I love the Sonic series and thats all that matters.

I believe my opinions are pretty unpopular...

• I love cuts and the roster needs them. The more logical ones there are, the more fresh characters there'll be.
• It would be unattractive for the roster to have more than 55 characters. 50-55 is ideal for me.
• Mario should have 6 reps with Paper Mario filling the spot.
• Zelda should also have 6 reps, now that transformations are out. I'd be fine with Tingle or Vaati filling that spot (though I prefer Vaati).
• Even though I think he'd be a decent addition, I loathe Ghirahim.
• I still wish that Impa had replaced Sheik.
• Pokemon should have 7 reps with each generation represented. If I had it my way they would be:
  • Pikachu
  • Charizard (Him and Pikachu are Gen 1 mascots, with Zard being the needed fire-type)
  • Chikorita (Represents 2nd gen, much needed grass-type and starter form, plus it's popular and it's another quadruped, which adds some diversity)
  • Gardevoir (3rd gen rep, represents fairy and psychic type, plus has mega evolution and is extremely popular; would replace Jiggs)
  • Lucario (I dislike him, but he's popular, has a mega evolution, and represents 4th gen)
  • Genesect (Legendary 5th gen rep, only bug-type legendary in Pokemon, super cool design, would be ridiculously interesting)
  • Greninja (6th gen water-type rep)
• I would be ecstatic if Fire Emblem had 3 reps, even though 2 is fine.
• I've always wanted Ephraim in. Lance-using lord with teal hair rather than blue? Unph. If not him, a magic or axe user would be cool.
• I despise clones, and always have.
• I love Sakurai and am aware that he's killing himself for this game, but I still selfishly wish he'd invest more time in creating more fitting, accurate, and creative movesets and just add in like, obvious choices, i.e. making Mario use FLUDD in hover mode for his Up B, and using the ground pound for his Down B.
• Mother only needs one character. Ninten and Lucas could be alternate costumes for Ness or vice versa.
• I like WFT's inclusion and am in love with Villager's inclusion.
• Though I don't like the series much myself, Isaac should have a spot.
• I would absolutely love it if Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, or Simon Belmont were to be added (though I'd be fine if they weren't).
• Pacman and Miis would be great additions and I don't get the hate for them.
• If you haven't noticed already, variety and diversity are the things I want most in the roster, second to logical inclusions. The more wacky and different the characters are the better.
• EDIT: From the direct I actually thought that Ridley was playable and Sakurai was just teasing us. If Ridley had been a non-playable boss character, I feel Sakurai would've just shown us his full figure. Plus, he looked playable to me for some reason because of the uncanny animation (btw I don't care if he gets in or not, just my 2 cents).

That is very unpopular. But I actually agree with some of these.

Characters:
-All characters in Brawl (with the exception of Pkmn Trainer and his other Pokemon) should return.
-Clone characters like Ganondorf and Falco should be completely revamped to be completely different from the characters they mirror.
-The only 3rd party characters should be Sonic and Mega Man.
-there should be more representation for Donkey Kong and Fire Emblem in particular.
Stages
-I think there should be lots of returning stages
-stages should be varried in design without just being Final Destinaton or Battlefield clones.
-DLC stages should be offered.
Single Player
-I'm glad the story mode from Brawl isn't coming back.
-all, if not most, modes in single player should be able to support co-op.

And having 2 versions of the same game is awesome.
