Does anyone happen to have a Wii optical disc cleaner? (So i can play dual-layer discs (like brawl))

If so I would definitely appreciate it if they could let me use ^_~ ;; Can't play brawl otherwise.
I'll bring the lens cleaner for ya guy. But definitely send them both (disc and console) to nintendo afterwards. It's free and they give you a new copy of brawl.

Tried Brawl- last night. So fun and hilarious. Unfortunately, only 15 chars are different in the version I have (there are other char codes but they aren't finalized). Can't wait until they release more characters! Anyway, we must have a B- setup at the meeting.

I got another SDTV--20 incher at the bargain price of $20. I actually paid the person with the Visa gift card we still had from the last money tourney we had. So now we have a max of 8 TVs: the one I just got, 2 I got from craigslist, 1 I had at home, Juan's 3 TVs, and Edgar's TV.

Andrew can't bring his roomate's wii so if anybody can bring a wii, please do so--we might need it.

Officers: please get to WEL 1.316 BEFORE 3pm (i.e. 2:30) so we can get set up on time.

When I move closer to campus, we'll probably have a 9th TV. 10 if you count my HDTV, which lags, though we can still play xbox 360 and ps3 on it.

I can't guarantee I'll make it by 2:30. I'll try my best though.

It is not easy to move 4 TVs and to get all the people required to do so moving. Juan not being able to drive this time also made it more difficult to start on time. We will do better next time.

In theory, we could just be less lazy and 3pm would work. But yes, I think the meeting should start at 4:30pm (with officers arriving at 4 or shortly thereafter). Would make it easier for us to start on time and gives people time to get some things done before they blow off the rest of the day heh. And the end time should probably be 11pm since we never finish earlier than that anyways.

Fun. Kal is still undefeated at Smash Club tourneys!! Wait for the results thread and videos (sorry, no commentary) for more details...

EDIT: ****, I f'ed up. I thought we could get away with recording vids in higher resolution (720x480 instead of 480x480) combined with a low bit rate. I saw that no frames were being dropped so I assumed it was working. But, in all the vids we recorded, within four minutes the video freezes. :( :( Also, some of the videos are again in mono. The connections probably weren't firm enough (although it could be linked to recording in higher resolution). Anyways, whenever I use an FAC laptop I will stick with 480x480 resolution, perhaps with a little higher bit rate (need to do some testing to see how much I can push it). But, yeah, nobody cares much if the video isn't super high quality.

On the plus side, the video that was recorded is high quality; maybe I'll upload what I have and call it "highlights" from the 2nd meeting heh.

I think 3pm is the perfect time to start these meetings. It's not too early or too late in the day.

btw, I found out today that I was accepted to this university. That means I can become a real member next year... right??

Assuming the club is still around, haha.
Kal, Edgar, Andrew, Justin and Vincent will need to pick it up. Maybe Hector too.

Sorry about the video problems. >.>

For the next meeting, we have to do a Brawl singles tourney and record some vids from that since I don't want to alienate non-Melee players.

We need to make a survey for members to fill out asking what meeting times they would prefer, what kinds of events they want, and generally what they want changed about the club. We could either email it or pass it out at the next meeting.

I just had a great idea (or maybe not so great):

We should start up a Bowser Challenge within the UT Smash Club. On the opening post, we could feature the people that have done particularly well and make it almost like a competition to see who can do the best. Of course, the people playing the Bowsers must be relatively good.

If you don't know what the Bowser Challenge is, it's pretty much a 4 stock 3v1 teams match (no friendly fire) on Fountain of Dreams with 3 (human controlled) Bowsers vs the challenger who can pick any character.

The goal isn't to win - it's to see how many kills you can get.

I think it'd be a fun addition to the club. No money involved, of course, just for shiggles.

We should have a silly tourney next meeting for Melee. Make it a $1 entry fee, random characters, all stages on.

Or like, $100 entry fee, Bowser FFA on Hyrule.

Alright, so who's interested in going to Dallas on Saturday and throwing in for gas money?
I'm interested! Not only do I want to see and possibly have an opportunity to be ***** by the one and only Darkrain but I could visit my brother while I'm around UTD.

I like it. We should record them too, with "commentary" lol.

Come to think of it we have never done any silly/weird events besides that quasi-low tier Melee tournament we did at the first meeting. Would be fun to have a random char tourney, a true low tier tourney, a brawl- tourney, a Falcon FFA where you have to fill a certain quota of falcon punches, or even something like what Kal suggested last time--everybody picks a comp and they fight in a singles tournament (could be pretty funny).

Alright, so I think my car is full now with Clay, Matt, Kal, and Mitchell. Perhaps we can fit a Melee setup or two in my trunk?

Does anyone else want to go? The way I see it, we tally up everyone that wants to go and distribute them evenly between JF and Tirno's rides. This way gas money is split.

Also, we should all wear some sort of Austin shirt or something. We'll have a big *** crew and it will be adorable. Whenever one of us is playing in tournament, we all cheer him on. Unless it's me vs. another Austinite. Then we cheer me on.

If JF has room I would be interested in going, mainly just to watch.
It'd be awesome to see Darkrain play in person.

Go team. We should make it a 10v10 crew battle instead. Let's all wear Austin shirts like Kal suggested. Then whoever wears a burnt orange UT shirt will be distinctly a college kid and we can cheer like we do for football. GO KAL!

I think we should all wear red. Not burnt ****ing orange. That color sucks.

I got a really nice new red shirt. Also a white eminem hoody. I can recite lyrics during matches!

"Will Smith don't need to cuss in his raps to sell records.
Well I do, so **** him and **** you too!"

In all seriousness, I do think we should all go as some sort of crew. Camaraderie and all that. Just think about how much everyone will hate us if Austin players always have people cheering them on! :chuckle:

I believe he has 4 open spots. I can't say for sure. I'll ask him to post in this thread.

Also, I don't understand why the color we wear needs to be associated with any particular campus. Not every Austinite goes to UT. It's ****ing stupid. >_<

I like red.

alright, thnx
actually, if we can get a head count before saturday, we could even re-distribute based on who knows one another better, it might be more fun that way

Yea, I technically have 4 spots open... I'm not a huge fan of driving a bunch of people home, but I can live with it. I've just never driven on a road trip (even a small one like this) with more than one or two people. Plus my car is new... so you have to treat it like it is your god :p

Also, red is not OU. The melee red looks nothing like OU's red. And there's no burnt orange color in melee :p
