Beatles Rock Band is a really fun game! Not extremely challenging but that doesn't bother me. Anyways, I got an extra mic for it that we can use for commentary.

Rohan now has a laptop and a car! These will be of great help to the club. *applauds our esteemed club aide*

SSB64 is now out on VC in the US! Only $10. I might get it eventually but playing it with a GC controller might feel wierd.

The main thing I'm worried about with the current spring schedule is having that fourth meeting featuring a major Brawl tourney with prizes on Saturday March 13. Will most people be going home for spring break around that time? Maybe we should move this meeting up a week to Sat March 6.

I have a cheap bluetooth dongle. $5 says that it allows me to use my bluetooth device with the computer, therefore allowing me to **** at smash and simultaneously commentate on my own games.

Good news or best news?

laptop definitely, I'll know in the next few days about the car cuz if so I'll need to get a C permit, and it'll cost my dad roughly $900 (insurance) to keep the car rather than sell it.
So in any case, be prepared our esteemed president to bring your car if we want to save our esteemed treasurer some trouble.
And I can't exactly tell my dad we need it for smash club, he thinks it'll be for wal-mart runs, and if we want to eat somewhere far off campus.
As for the laptop, its got a great processor from what I understand, and 4GB of RAM, so I'll be happy to provide it as a recording set-up as long as Jamal doesn't throw his controller at it (no offense homeslice).
In fact, anyone who wishes to touch it other than myself must first pass a rage test, except Clay cuz its like impossible for him to get mad.

lulz, if you actually showed up more you'd realize I don't john nearly as much as you think I do.
:p
Eh, I see enough online to make my case lol

I recently played a Peach back in Houston (one of the best Peach's in Brawl for Texas but still a **** good Peach in Melee). It was funny too b/c he dusted off his Melee disk and didn't have his memory card, so I could only play as Falcon/Fox/Falco (after I quickly destroyed some wire frames =P)

What I just realized is that no one plays Peach in Austin, which makes me =(

I had to play Fox just to have a chance in a matchup I've never really tried out. But when he took me to Mute City, GG.

I eventually ***** w/ Falcon though, those Pawnches made a big difference haha

I could try and pick up Peach, but every time I do, kittens start dying. My Peach is pretty bad.

What do I have to do with it?
I was just trying to make a point to Justin that what happens on this board is not a reflection of what happens in the club.
Obviously you and I have had a number of debates in the thread, but we always get along fine in the actual club meetings.

Yeah, I dunno how people do it, but I'm gonna try to pick her up (she'll be just as crappy as my other characters)

And @Rohan, hopefully I'm there for more meetings, I just had a lot of things going on during the last part of the fall semester

OK, so I was playing this pretty ok Sheik player in Houston (not as good as Jamal haha) and I was playing Fox. I took the first game w/ my crappy Fox (Uair festival basically) and then he chose his counterpick stage... Jungle Japes.

I got destroyed (at least the KlapTrap got a kill for me)

That is all =D

I always turn a bunch of counterpick stages on when Clay and I fight cuz I tell him one must learn to fight on those stages if an opponent chooses it as a counterpick, and he always complains.
Some of them are genuinely annoying though, like Jungle Japes.

I need my Hyrule Temple practice then LOL
Not a bad idea actually, I still haven't really applied counterpicking in any sets. Plus, anytime me, Matt, or Jose play, we're always going to the same neutrals

That's not a great idea. A better idea is to have the loser counterpick. There's just no point in practicing Falcon vs. Marth on a stage like Green Greens.

You still get a pretty good feel for the stage though
Some people counterpick random stages like that b/c they're comfortable w/ the stage. Doesn't hurt to know your stages and how to punish mistakes on a certain counterpick.

I guess if you're completely unfamiliar with the stages, it's not a terrible idea. Still, for anyone remotely familiar with the stages, your best bet is to find a group of 3 other players, play winner stays, and for the incoming player to counterpick stage. The more variety the players have in character choice, the better you'll actually learn to handle such counterpicks.

If there's anyone in Austin who wants to go to FS8 let me know, 'cause I'm considering driving myself.

I just hope mom thinks it's a good idea...

I do not mind playing on counterpicks, it makes things a bit more interesting when you don't always pick one of the few simple neutral stages. But neutrals are better for serious matches. I suppose I could practice on a counterpick and utilize one of those stages to win a set but I feel it's more honorable to stick with neutrals.

Well it'd prolly be better if we randomed the neutral stages, which we already do, but then the next match the loser gets to pick the stage, instead of just randoming all the time and only playing on neutral stages.
We'd still be playing for fun, but at the same time getting practice for serious matches, where you do need to be prepared to play on a stage you may be unfamiliar with.
This is of course only talking about Brawl +, not Melee cuz I'm already at a serious disadvantage.
And I don't take "Barlw" seriously anymore.
If only Sakurai could re-release the game with all the gayness removed.
Like, I was playing Richard and his bros today in Brawl +, whom they all say they prefer over Brawl cuz its faster, but I got sick of kicking their ***** after a while. In some matches I was actually forced to sandbag, which is rare. So if only the game was released that way, I wouldn't have that problem, cuz after all this time I've found that just playing noobs over and over again actually makes me worse. I get used to playing below my level, so when I face either Josh or you, it's at times overwhelming.

even fighting noobs can be helpful. and i dont agree with you about the "gayness" in the game. im glad its NOTHING like melee. melee takes great skill, and i commend people that are able to get through it, but its too freaking technical. at least with brawl there is no like wavedash or something that all players need to learn to even be decent at the game.

The difficulty of technical skill in Melee is exaggerated. Wavedashing and L-Canceling (and shffling) are not that hard. Cut me a ****ing break.

Also, Rohan, your post gave me an inoperable brain tumor.

It doesn't have anything to do with honor. If everyone was "honorable" like that, we'd only ever play dittos, let alone matches like Falco vs. CF. Being at a disadvantage is a normal part of competitive play. Also, you're sort of biased, Falcon is sort of fail on non-neutrals.

Edgar doesn't know anything about honor. He went C. Falcon in a low-tier tournament. What a ***** *** *****.

^^^This.. all of this haha

Captain Falcon's best choice in terms of CP's would probably be Brinstar (just watching Scar/SS take spacies to that stage IMO), and even that stage works against him sometimes
