lulz, as long as yall don't break it.And everybody thank Rohan for how he will let the club borrow his new laptop for recording once he gets it for xmas.
Ooh, then I wouldn't need to bring a car. You could get a class C parking permit for $74, the lots are on the other side of the stadium. This would be a huge relief for Juan, who drives everything everywhere. My parents have also decided to get a new car, so I may have one next semester.
We must play when you get here. Tuesday, right?I think i need to practice movement in melee, don't always feel totally in control dashdancing and wavedashing around like how to get faced and spaced the right way.
Since classes start Jan 19, our first meeting for Spring 2010 will be either saturday Jan 23rd or the next saturday, Jan 30th. Do you guys like the 23rd? I'm thinking the times should be 3-10pm, doesn't start too early and doesn't end too late.Hope to make some meetings next semester, in fact lemme know when first one is so i can ask off
well thats a bit excessive dont ya thinkNobody quits melee; once you get a taste of the melee competitive scene, you will be playing until you are too weak to hold the controller or you die, whichever comes first.
i say the 30th. ppl coming back, some would probably be focused on their classes for a little bit. 3-10pm is fine with me, sounds perfect really. if u do a $50 visa gift card this time, i suggest u either NOT have a second place prize (unless u still got the other gift card) or NOT do another money event for the semester.Since classes start Jan 19, our first meeting for Spring 2010 will be either saturday Jan 23rd or the next saturday, Jan 30th. We could start thinking about the event that this meeting will feature. We'll probably do one or two of the events we were planning to do last time but never got around to: smash 64 singles, melee doubles, or brawl crew battle.
Again, our first major event w/ entry fees and prizes will not be until the second meeting. We could start thinking about what this will be too since we do want to start advertising early. Perhaps Brawl singles since our last major tourney was Melee singles. Entry fee will be $5 again and the top prize may be a $50 visa gift card.
yea didnt catch the whole 'limit posting' comment....
I wish we could limit who posted in this thread. Then again, I'd probably ban everybody.
Except Clay. He rules.
Oh, speaking of a money event, if he does provide a $50 first place prize, there's no reason to not hold more. The larger the prize, the more people show up, so we'll make the money back anyway. At least, it works that way in theory.
In other words, whether we host additional events with cash prizes is dependent on how our previous events go, not on the prizes. The prize doesn't really come out of our pockets, after all.
Yeah, but that was due to limited planning on our part. We don't need a particularly high entrance fee. If we advertise a $75 total prize, then, at $5 per entrant, that only requires 15 entrants to break even. That's not outrageous. With good advertising, that's an extremely easy goal to hit.yea didnt catch the whole 'limit posting' comment.
u may think larger the prize, more will show up, but when u think about entry fees too, u gotta make it high enough to counter it. and some of the prizes they got in the past, though small figurines, those came from juan's pocket i think
u make a valid point. yea if we advertise for a good while im pretty sure we can get a good turnout. kal how about u determine when the major event should be since YOU ARE the event coordinatorYeah, but that was due to limited planning on our part. Really, an event in one of our first few meetings is a bad idea. We need time to advertise. For example, we could start advertising in January and have an event in March or April. The problem is that our Melee event had only one or two weeks worth of advertisement. And even then we still broke even.
Thnx for the tip, but of course there's no guarantee.Ooh, then I wouldn't need to bring a car. You could get a class C parking permit for $74, the lots are on the other side of the stadium. This would be a huge relief for Juan, who drives everything everywhere.
Yeah, we'll just be like DBR and not DI (even though we don't really DI to begin with) so that our combos look coolerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJj_5EZyi34
This video has inspired me. We should screw petty tournaments over who's objectively the best and remember what's really important in life. That is, we should hold competitions for style and pure awesome. Slow-motion knees, wombos combos, team combos, and all sorts of ****** **** ftw.
Kind of a stretch, but i'm sure it should work outOk, I made a calendar with all Spring 2010 meetings with Google Calendar. It looks like we can fit in 8 meetings next semester if we start on Jan 30 and do every other week. The last meeting would be the Saturday before dead days, May 8. I figure we could have major events on the 4th (March 13, day before spring break which could be a problem...) and 8th (May 8) meetings. The former should be Brawl singles and the latter probably Melee singles.
