I wanna test out my 2 hr. Piranha Plant skills against some real people (and not in FFAs for once).

K. Rool wasn't demanded until Brawl, and even then the demand only really grew after Diddy got added. Smash 4 was the first time K. Rool was really snubbed.

I posted this in the Piranha Plant thread but I think it bears repeating here.

I will admit, I was a bit peeved Piranha Plant got in at first.

But after playing the character...holy hell. This is an insanely fun and quirky character. I love everything about him. The victory animations, his moveset REALLY gells with me...I am considering maining.

Even if I don't end up maining, 10/10 Sakurai...10/10.

We also know Chrom was considered for Smash 4. Who knows when Sakurai considered K. Rool.

Chrom definitely had it easier. On the other hand, he also got it harder due to Palutena's Guidance and Robin/Lucina's Trailer.

I recall there was some demand back in the Melee days. It was probably very little though.

No question, he's likely getting in over Banjo...
But I'm not sure if even he's guaranteed to make it.

We need to keep in mind that Steve is a western third party, it would take a lot more work to make him (or any western character), with language barriers, and possible travel costs to meet with the creators/owners. Would Nintendo/Sakurai want to go through the extra hassle?

I'm just not sure yet, but I hope so...

Ah, I see. So the reason that Piranha Plant's Classic Mode is called, "New Bloom" is because he only fights Ultimate's newcomers.

Honestly, I was wondering why there wasn't a classic mode route like this in the base game. We had one for returning veterans and Echoes after all. I think this is a nice idea for our first DLC character!

Of course, there was no way to know if all Echoes would have the same changes as their base character. Peach and Daisy are the only time among this patch that happened(and they had the best reason for more differentiation). Chrom/Roy has differences. Though they do share a lot of changes sometimes. Ken and Ryu got many similar ones.

The case of Samus/Dark Samus is interesting, they have the same change for down-b (''Reduced vulnerability'') but Samus got an additional buff (''Extended the range of the missile and reduced the vulnerability when using the move in the air'').

tbh kind sad that the chrombo was nerfed bc it was hype as hell but at least you can still do it as long as you have stock advantage so that's nice

also i'm so happy they didn't touch shulk lol

Chrom got Falcon Punched so hard he couldn’t even compete for a spot in Smash 4...atleast K Rool was declined reasonably

It's obvious that similar issues will happen with Echoes and their home character. They have the same moveset. Most of the time a glitch/problem will affect the other. So this is expected.

Having differences is probably so users can enjoy them differently. Too bad they aren't giving proper changes to the only pair that could actually use it alone for differentiation.

Regarding the supposed DLC leak: I'd be ok with Steve, hyped af for Doomguy and Ryu Hayabusa, and really the only one I'd be kinda bummed about is Erdrick, because I don't care about Dragon Quest and would prefer Sora, Geno, or Chrono as a SE Character. BUT if Piranha Plant has taught me anything, it's that Sakurai will pour his heart into making a very fun moveset for whatever character makes it in, and I'm sure I'll end up being happy with all of them, even Erdrick.

We still don't know if the leak is accurate though, despite Verge endorsing it.
