So if K Rool and Ridley were both added because of the Ballot, I wonder which one finished higher.

So, assuming Smash is now 20, what was everyone's first experience with series?

I remember Melee being played at my cousins' house, but I was pretty young then, so I don't think I played it that much

Then, fast forward to some time in either 2008 or 2009, we're at our cousins' house once again. This time, they had Brawl... Being older, and already getting hooked on gaming thanks to the Wii craze at the time (who I'll also thank my cousins for introducing me to), I picked up a controller, and picked :yoshi2:... It was a blast. So much so, that it was basically tradition that whenever we went to their house, one of the first things we did was play a couple rounds of Brawl. My family loved it so much, that we ended up buying our own copy of it, and it was likely our most played Wii game...

So, if it weren't for Brawl, I probably wouldn't be on these boards, or part of other multiple Nintendo fandoms... So I'm gonna take a second to thank Brawl for introducing me to Smash, and a ton of other amazing Nintendo franchises.
I had a GameCube as my first home console but never got Melee, though I was sort of aware of it. Brawl was my first game and I remember some of the build up to it: I wasn't part of any speculation communities at the time, but I do remember the daily Dojo updates and being really excited when Olimar got confirmed. I miss the Dojo tbh

My first experience with Smash was when I was I very little with Smash 64. I've been playing Smash since I've been old enough to hold a controller and have put countless hours into every installment.

It's a very special series to me, as I have pretty much grown up with it, lol. The latest Smash game is something I will always return to multiple times during the course of a year, no matter what else I'll may be playing at the time. :)

I inherited my older brother’s copy of Smash 64, so I’ve played Smash for as long as I can remember. I mained :pikachu64: back then and thought I was so good via my ability to spam Thunder, ahaha...
(Also, having to wait until I was actually about 13 years old to play both Melee and Brawl due to the T ratings was so painful...)

It's Link. People speak to him in grunts and gurgles but he still understands what to do by reading the text bar - despite the fact he can't talk himself.
Link’s so reliant on the text boxes that it’s also the only way he can respond back to people, as he can’t speak but can still answer back in the text boxes.
It lets him reveal a side of him nobody can hear otherwise... like in that text box in BOTW where Link can only respond back with puns, ahaha...

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
What magic does she even have? Whipping her hair I guess...?
She keeps that but she doesn't have her magic meter anymore so no spells like Fire Balls or Pike Balls that every other installment has. Despite that I feel the pirate gear upgrades makes Pirate's Curse feel like a regular Metroidvania instead of a slower paced one as you don't have to stop to transform all the time

So...anyone know why ZSS is holding a Killing Edge in Shantae’s spirit battle?
Shantae ends up losing her genie powers at the end of Risky’s Revenge so in Pirate’s Curse she obtains and uses gear from her enemy Risky Boots to compensate, which includes a Scimitar.

Shantae’s game on the GBC is a visual masterpiece for the console.

I was 5 in the year of 2004, I believe. As a gift, my parents got me the Gamecube I've had for at least 14 years now. One of the games that came with it was Melee. As usual for a kid at that age, I didn't know who anyone was aside from Mario lol. But I had a ton of fun playing it. I remember playing the game constantly, and pretty much coming close to finishing all of the challenges in challenge mode.

Flashfoward to somewhere around 2009, I practically begged for Brawl as soon as I saw it. Once my mom and dad finally agreed to let me have it, I played it first thing I got home. I put in my Wii, and the first thing I remember was playing through the entirety of The Subspace Emissary, being blown away by the cutscenes, having fun with the boss battles, and getting absolutely livid at The Great Maze. Out of all of the Smash games, Brawl is the one I've had the longest history with.

When 4 came around, I was pumped. I remember constantly visiting the website to see which characters would be added, and getting excited to see Shulk being added. When the 3DS version came out, I played it constantly when I had free time in school, some of my teachers even commented on how much I carried around. Nevertheless, I had fun with 4, despite that I felt it lacked solid single player content aside from Smash Run.

And finally, here we are with Ultimate, a game I consider to be the greatest game ever made, with every single character returning, badass newcomer inclusions in the form of Ridley, Simon, K Rool, and Incineroar, and if Joker is anything to be indicative of, it looks like it's only going to get crazier.

Without Smash, I wouldn't even be half the biggest gaming fan I am today. Smash introduced me to amazing series such as Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Metal Gear Solid, Xenoblade Chronicles, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy, and Castlevania. Smash will never not be fun to play for me, no matter where it goes in the future.

This is my favorite game series of all time, and nothing is going to change that.

Thank you Sakurai, for making the greatest game series in history!

I can’t think of a bad game made by Sakurai.

He mostly makes dope stuff.

Her magical transformations are one of the biggest mechanics in the series and iirc in one or more games in the series she had other magic like fireballs and revolving iron saw ball things.
Yeah I completely forgot about that for some reason and only remembered when I had already posted it.

I'm guessing because the sword is supposed to resemble her purple hair-whip from her own games when it glows purple.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is a great game made terrible by it's control scheme.

I was really bummed when he said they weren't going to remake it on Switch because it SOOO deserves it.
