I think it speaks volume that they decided to reboot Battletoads before Banjo.

I don't think anyone at Microsoft really cares about the IP. Spencer just saw a chance to get some good publicity and potential money for an IP they don't seem to want to do anything with.

TBH I really do feel this way about Banjo as well.

Microsoft seems pretty content only putting him in as the odd cameo here and there for some 90s nostalgia points. If they were planning to ever do anything with the IP, I feel like they would have already done it by now. I also feel like some of Banjo's supposed popularity and how far the games supposedly reached is exaggerated a lot sometimes.

Speaking of mii fighters, if you had to play as yourself (don't pretend you all haven't done this), would you be a brawler, a gunner or a swordie? I'd be a gunner cos imma love me some projectile spam

I use swordie for my own mii because disjoint gang rise up, but I'm also partial to brawler because I love the impact and weightiness of their hits. I hate using gunner though, I just suck with them.

Given the leaker IndieGamerChick, Microsoft's plans for Nintendo, and the Rare spirits data or whatever it was in the code, I think Banjo-Kazooie has a good chance at making it in Smash.

However I want both them and Steve/a Creeper so I don't care who gets in first unlike most people.

I mean, in fairness, it is a waste of time. Speculation that is. It never effects the game because we usually only start once the game is announced, and that's when they've already decided on the roster. It becomes guesswork and hallucinated theories.

Speculating right now is a waste of time because they've already decided on the characters. No amount of campaigning will change that.

And yeah it sucks to say but games are a business. They'll always make the best business decision for everyone involved. That's why I've been waiting 15 years for a new F-Zero. Not much you can do.

Another note, this kinda feels like K.Rool in Smash 4 all over again lol, who actually had a lot in common with Banjo before he got in.

-Both talking animals created by western company Rare.

-Had their glory days in the mid-late 90s until they faded to obscurity into the 2000s and onward.

-Both had their last appearances in 2008.

-Highly requested for Smash with their main arguments being irrelevant, western made, and Microsoft owned which didn’t even apply to Rool.

-Eventually they both become hated now due to how often they’re speculated by the hardcore side.

Hell,’s initial reveal is what officially sparked my support for Banjo in the first place, if Sakurai can be aware of Rare content and revived them, then it apply to a certain former Nintendo series owned by another certain company.

You don’t know what it’s like. With every game you always have a few things you want to see. Usually you get at least one of those things. Not me. Usually I get nothing I want. Ever.

I don’t get the characters I want in fighting games. I don’t get new installments in the game franchises I like. The movies and shows I like all die. I don’t get any money because nobody hires me. I don’t get love because I’m a physically repulsive being. All I get is sadness, disappointment, and loneliness. So yeah. I’m gonna fight as hard as I can to try to get what I want because it ****ing sucks being this miserable all the time.

While I share the same view you have, it is worth to note that K.Rool is owned by Nintendo. This means that the Kremling isn't hard to negotiate with Sakurai or the Smash team since Nintendo is free to use him in any way they want to.

With Banjo, you have the barrier of Microsoft, who will want to share their most profitable character over any of the other ones they own.


That being said, I can see Banjo getting in after Steve on a supposed Fighter Pass 2.

I’ve tried to get into other games, but I hate RPG’s and their respective elements. I hate open worlds and non-linearity. I just can’t get into those kinds of games, and that’s all that gets made now.

There's also stuff like Devil May Cry 5, Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled, Yoshi's Crafted World, Team Sonic Racing, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Battletoads and some more titles that aren't open world or RPGs coming soon.
