I don’t want smashboards to turn into this, so I’m thankful for the mods and their purpose

I feel like this would just devolve into Gardevoir porn, badly drawn dongers and Pokemon inflation fetish art.

I agree that standard Mementos is kinda iffy to fight on, the massive color contrast is very commanding.

The P3 version is really nice, though.

Which is too bad. A semifinal match with a Rivers in the Desertb playing would be really ****ing amazing.

I've been arguing with a friend about the Mementos colour as he really loves the P5 victory music waaaay too much. My argument in favour was that the blue is really nice, it just makes me want to go OOOOH YEAH BADADADADADADADA MMMM BABY BABY BADADADADADADADAAA

i feel like understanding context clues is important when it comes to handing out infractions

like i know i sound like a salty broken record at this point but eating a 2-point trolling infraction for a light-hearted mutual ribbing between friends feels dickish when the thread hornyposts so much and you never see anyone get warned yeah

i mean it's pretty obvious in most cases when people are being sarcastic about something, especially when said thing is being done in the form of a popular meme

like maybe just check these people's prior interactions before hitting them with 1/3 of a ban?

and i get that younger users look at the thread but come on

if a kid is scarred by someone saying "eat my fword" on this thread then they've probably been placed in an asylum from **** we've talked about in the past week alone

also saying "gang weed" as a very small part of an overall gamers rise up joke should not be a 2-pointer when people get away with much worse **** but that was like a month ago and i don't want to sound like a salty broken record that owns a tardis

Nah, talk as much as you feel like. But if it carries on too long in the thread you can always carry it on in a PM, or group PM with those who want to be involved. Discussion is healthy.

To clarify my comment though, because I want to be clearer, I feel like there's a difference between an administrator's role and a moderator's role. I've been both. As an admin, you can afford to be more lax and guide your staff with a gentler hand. How you approach situations or vocalize to your staff how you want to approach situations can change the direction of the site as a whole. As a moderator for a single forum, as I am, you don't have that same liberty. If mods A, B and C would infract for Post X, and mod D wouldn't, then there becomes a potential issue of perceived favoritism or a simple inconsistency that brings into question the legitimacy of the infraction.

Essentially, moderators need to keep up with the stream, admins dictate the stream itself. And I have more experience as an admin than a mod, so shifting my perspective is my goal for the sake of being consistent with everyone else here. If I'm hanging out in the thread and let a post go, then another mod comes in half an hour later, sees the post and infracts, that's where the "blindsided" thing comes from. Consistency is key.

IMO, infractions should be more "last resort" than "go to", but the reality of it is that infractions are designed to essentially do nothing at all unless you are constantly getting them. We didn't have a similar system set up for AllisBrawl. Mods could basically only edit/delete posts and then tell an admin or a super mod to get involved. That was it. Infractions are helpful for keeping track of past behavior and automatically applying temporary bans if the user's been a problem for multiple separate mods. Not using the infraction system as designed kind of defeats the purpose.

I disagree about the infraction system. In THEORY, it should maybe do nothing, but in practice just because you have to build up a few, doesn’t mean it feels like any less of a punishment for someone on the receiving end. And my point wasn’t to never use it, it was to use it appropriately with context and proper priorities in mind, as opposed to at the whim of whoever happens to see it. It may be of convenience to you guys, but I just find it a little weird that people are preempting potential possible future minor issues to save the dignity of a small fraction of people, at the expense of making rules and enforcement confusing and wholly irritating for the people who are already here and have been for a bit.

Reading your post tbh gives me the idea that you’re not exactly seeing where I’m coming from. Like I said, I’m aware of the difference between the positions here, absolutely and thoroughly so the first bit made me a bit confused like “okay... why are you telling me this” haha. I’ve made it very clear that I don’t blame the mods because they aren’t really in control of what they need to do and are all just trying to do their job in the boundaries applied to them.

I personally think Mementos is fine and it really should be given a chance at the very least because it seems people's issues with it are just small nitpicks that wouldn't be a problem in an actual match.

That's why it was scatterbrained. It became more of a stream of consciousness on my thoughts pertaining to the current conversation as a whole rather than a direct reply to your post, because I kept getting up and doing something else then coming back to the post and writing from wherever I left off.
